Hierarchical Key Management for Dynamic Multicast Groups

In dynamic groups, an efficient and secure multicast key management is important. While the efficiency of re-keying is a main factor that influences the performance of secure multicast, grouping keys into logical tree and re-keying for users change are effective ways to improve the efficiency of re-keying and reduce the burden of key management and network. In this paper, we present a Domain-based hierarchical key management for dynamic multicast groups, in which a hierarchical and full binary logic key tree are proposed for re-keying. The investigation and comparison indicated that the efficiency of re- keying has been improved and it can also meet our design aims and requirements.
