Function and application of PowerWorld power system visualization simulator

The paper introduced PowerWorld Simulator, a power system visualizing simulation software, developed by PowerWorld Cooperation and department of electrical and computer engineering of university of Illinois at Urbana Champion. PowerWorld Simulator can intuitively and visually display the power network operation. Users can build and modify different power system models and parameters. In addition, self-explained icons and menu can perform various operations to analyze power flow, fault, contingency, economic operations of the model. This paper elaborates the powerful functions of the simulator and its simple manipulation and compares PowerWorld with other power system. Through realizing a simulation model, analyzing and comparing study results, the accuracy and the broad application prospect of the PowerWorld are proved.
