英语移就辞格的隐喻和转喻认知阐释

摘    要:构成移就表达的转移修饰语和中心词在逻辑上看似相悖,实为恰到好处的巧妙搭配。要生成和理解移就话语,把握转移修饰语和中心词之间的深层逻辑,就需要认知主体运用相似联想和邻近联想的思维方式。概念隐喻、转喻正是以相似性和邻近性为基础的两种认知世界的基本思维方式,能够揭示移就语义冲突表面下的合理逻辑,对于移就表达的生成和理解有着重要的阐释力。

Abstract:In transferred epithet, the transferred modifier and the center word are logically contradic- tory on the surface but they make a perfect match in terms of deep structure. To generate and under- stand such language forms, one needs to apply thinking patterns based on similarity and proximity. Metaphor and metonymy, generally recognized as two basic cognitive means, can shed light on how the transferred attributes can go with the center word which they don' t belong to and play an impor- tant role in interpreting the generation and comprehension of transferred epithet.
