左手材料的奇异特性

摘    要:左手材料是指一种介电常数ε和磁导率μ同时为负值的材料。近几年在实验上取得了突破性的进展,尤其是在2003年,被美国的科学杂志评为当年十大科技进展之一。本文介绍了左手材料的概念、原理和它具有的负群速度、负折射率、理想成像、逆Doppler频移、反常Cerenkov辐射等种种奇异的物理性质。并回顾了这一领域近年来的发展状况。

Abstract:Left-handed materials,of which the dielectric constant ε and the magnetic permeability μ are simultaneously negative.Key experimental advances have been obtained recently and winning a place among the 10 breakthroughs by Science in 2003.Left-handed materials have many strange properties,such as negative refractive index,negative group velocity,perfect imaging,inverse Doppler effect and abnormal Cerenkov radiation.This paper introduces the concept and basic principles of left-handed materials and reviews the developments in recent years.
