Abstract:There are several different nonlinearities in the turbine governor system, such as insensitivity, saturation of servo system, and frequency modulation dead band, which reduce the interaction between the governor system and torsional oscillation, and thereby improve the torsional oscillation stability of shafts. This paper suggests intentional incorporation of appropriate nonlinearities in the governor system to improve the torsional oscillation stability of shafts.
