Research on Inserting PMU in Automation System in Northwest Power Grid

The principle and functions of PMU(synchronized phasor measuring unit)are introduced briefly from the view of inserting the unit,the types of data processing,the communication flow between master station and slave station,and so on,are described. Several experiences show that PMU provides new technologies and approaches for the dynamic real-time monitnring of the power grid as the foundation of WAMS system,therefore,PUM plays an important role in secure,steady operation of the power grid.
