Abstract:Macroporous conducting C/SiO2 composite was prepared by in situ polymerization and vacuum pyrolysis in a novel silica macroporous carrier, using the conducting material as a substrate in which SbCl3 was introduced and converted into Sb2O3 through in situ hydrolysis. Recrystalization of Sb2O3 was carried out at high temperature to obtain the 3D macroporous C/SiO2/Sb2O3 (crystal) composites. The structure of C/SiO2/Sb2O3 and the electrochemical performances of the related lithium batteries were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetry (TG), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), electrochemical charge-discharge experiments and impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that the macroporous C/SiO2 composite was suitable for the use as an electrode in lithium batteries. As the most important feature of the new electrode, the 3D macroporous structure ensured an improved combination of the conducting and electro-active materials, which not only enabled Sb2O3 to exhibit high capacity but also played a key role in reducing the resistance and improving the cycling stability.
