| Abstract: | This paper explores broadband transport technologies and network architectures based on the virtual path concept, and describes the implementation mechanism of layerization in public telecommunication neworks and the architecture of BISDN. Also, advantages of the virtual path and its impacts on transport network architecture are demonstrated. |
