Abstract:A cluster-based energy-efficient data gathering protocol(CEDGP)is proposed for data gathering in the large scale WSNs(Wireless Sensor Networks).Firstly,a node competes for becoming a clusterhead according to its residual energy.Furthermore,clusterhead transmits the data to sink node by multi-hop method.In order to improve the energy efficacy,a intra-cluster scheduling method is used to control the number of active nodes in a cluster.Simulation results show that CEDGP significantly outperforms the traditional cluster-based data gathering protocols in terms of energy consumption and network lifetime.
