摘    要:随着多核体系结构的快速发展,如何充分利用多核系统提供的计算能力,同时对可靠性、可扩展性和协同性提供支撑成为软件面临的难题。本文描述了一种运行在多核平台上的分布式虚拟运行环境DVRE,它为应用程序的有效运行提供支撑。DVRE在虚拟化技术的基础上以Client/Server的结构取代传统操作系统整体式的结构,以核之间通信的开销来取代操作系统中系统调用和上下文切换的开销,这种方法利用了多核平台高度的并行性,显示了良好的性能与可扩展性,同时DVRE底层的虚拟化机制提高了系统的可靠性与安全性。

Abstract:Software faces a problem that how it exploits the computing power of the multi-core system and supports the reliability, scalability and synergy of system with the rapid development of multi-core architecture. The paper presents a distributed virtual runtime environment on the multi-core platform called DVRE, which supports applications running effectively. DVRE adopts the Client/Server structure instead of the monolithic structure of the legacy operating systems and the communication between cores instead of system calls and context switches based on virtualization. The method indicates good performance and scalability which makes use of the high parallelism of multi-core platforms. Furthermore, the underlying virtualization mechanism of DVRE improves the reliability and security of system.
