摘    要:Internet化学化工资源导航系统ChIN已经被公认为国内最有影响的Internet化学化工资源导航站点,也受到国际同行的肯定和关注。本文从ChIN的最新版本及其专门管理工具ChIN-Manager,基于概念的自然语言检索方法一隐含语义检索ISI应用于ChIN的研究、将ChIN无缝集成到化学化工虚拟社区平台的尝试3个方面来介绍ChIN在最近两年内的新进展。

Abstract:ChIN is a comprehensive directory of Internet chemical resources on Internet and is constructed on an information base approach other than a merely collection of chemistry related links. ChIN has been widely recognized in China. ChIN was summarized as a site with a huge set of evaluated resources for chemists of all disciplines by ChemDex Plus of ChemWeb. com. ChIN has been considered also as the best Internet chemistry resources index in China by ChemDex of University of Sheffield, which is a well known web directory of chemistry in the world. This paper will summarize the major progress of ChIN in the recent two years. A complete new version of ChIN is now available which is constructed with the aid of ChIN - Manager, a specific tool based on database for maintaining a flexible categories, for creating resource summary pages based on different data models and web publication of ChIN. A program called ChIN - LSI based on Latent Semantic Indexing ( LSI), a concept based searching method has been created in order to explore the possibility to improve the searching ability of ChIN over the existed full text searching and database searching utilities. The test results of ChIN - LSI up to present is encouraging although further tests need to be done. An effort under taking to have ChIN integrated seamlessly into a virtual community framework is also introduced.
