Abstract:It was found that the wide application of underwater acoustic absorption polymer materials in underwater acoustic engineering and military fields. The development of underwater acoustic materials and the acoustic absorption mechanism was generally introduced. In order to improve the underwater acoustic absorption property, it is generally effective to add some inorganic or organic fillers in polymer materials. These fillers can change the acoustic wave from the longitudinal wave to shear wave at the boundary between the filler and the polymer material. Installation of cavities designed specially in polymer materials is often used in improving the underwater acoustic absorption property. Piezoelectric polymers, which can translate incident underwater acoustic signal into electric energy, are also used in preparing acoustic absorption materials. Other kinds of underwater acoustic absorption polymer materials and the acoustic absorption mechanism were also reviewed.
