Abstract:TiC/ZA43 composite was fabricated by XD and stirring casting techniques (0< V f <5.5%).The effect of TiC particle on microstructure and mechanical properties of cast TiC/ZA43 composite was investigated,and these phenomena were analyzed theoretically.It is shown that the incorporation of TiC can improve microstructure of ZA43 alloy,because TiC acts as heterogeneous nucleation floor.With the increment of TiC content,the tensile strength,yield strength and hardness of TiC/ZA43 composite have increased rapidly,and ductility of the composite has decreased to some content.The elevated temperature mechanical properties of TiC/ZA43 composites are superior to those of unreinforced matrix alloy.These phenomena were related to the change of load distribution in reinforcement and matrix,dislocation strengthening and fine grain strengthening are dominant when TiC content varies.
