This paper focused on the inspection methods of inclusions in cord steel wire rods at home and abroad. Four typical inspection methods were introduced and compared in detail. The technical characteristics and key technology of four methods were mastered. The key points of inspection methods of inclusions in cord steel wire rod were summarized. Particularly， the sampling area， type and name of the inclusions as well as characteristic morphology of different types of inclusions under optical microscope in four inspection methods were identified. The value and significance to perform inspection and quality control of cord steel wire rod inclusions were clarified.
