| Abstract: | By the end of 1990s,wind energy has gotten many countries' attention as one of the most important sustainable and environment friendly energy resources.The power of the wind has been utilized for at least 3000 years.In the modern time,we mostly use the wind power to generate electrical energy.The horizontal-axis wind turbine approach currently dominates the wind turbine applications.Researchers of many countries pay more and more attention to the vertical-axis wind turbine for its super excellent aerodynamic performance.So it arouses an interest in making a comparative study between HAWTs and VAWTs.This paper introduces the above two turbines and makes a comparative study about them,also reviews the historical development of the wind power electricity generation. |
