The British New Town movement,which was rooted on Garden City, hadworldwide influence both in terms of urbanplanning theory and practice. By re-readingthe book "New Town-the British Experience"edited by Peter Hall, and reviewing thechanges of concepts of New Town planningand the worldwide experience of New Towndevelopment, the article argues, there aresome historic lessons should be learn againstthe renewed interests in new towndevelopment in some mage-cities ofcontemporary China.
