| Abstract: | The history of China's historic city protection has been over 20 years, and more and more cities are taking the cultural heritage conservation seriously in China. This paper explores the leading issues in urban conservation and revitalization, based on introducing the experience and the latest tendency of heritage conservation of Europe and Japan, which is the conception changes from historic preservation to urban conservation, the thought changes from natural to historic environment protection, promoting the transform of community construction by citizen preservation movement, and applying GIS technique in the cultural sources management. |
