| Abstract: | The phenomenon of the urban restructuring and expansion in most Chinese cities in the 1990s has attracted attention of scholars.The article analyzes economic,social cultural and political factors as driving forces of urban restructuring, and discusses different roles that the city planning has played in cities with different development strategies. |
