| Abstract: | In the mock up experiment on full
wavetrain acoustic logging in carbonate rock, strong reflected waves outside the mock
up are observed between the refracted P wave arrivals and S wave arrivals on the full
acoustic wavetrains received in the borehole. Amplitudes of the reflected wave with air
outside the mock up are 10% 24% higher than those with water outside the mock up.
The experimental results show that it is feasible to detect the near borehole fractures
and their fluid properties in carbonate rock using full waveform sonic data. |
