Causes of the Through Pricks on G105 Drill Pipes

On the basis of observation and analysis of the through pricks on G105 drill pipes, this article indicates that the occurences of such through pricks are due to improper maintenance of the pipes before and after use. The improper maintenance resnlts in severe pitting corrosion and stress concentration on the inner wall of the pipe and therefrom the corrosion fatigue failure. For the sake of increasing the service life of the pipes, more care should be taken to avoid corrosion on the pipes in storage.
