Application and prospect of metal-organic frameworks in petrochemical industry

Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)have been widely applied in the separation of olefins,oil purification,catalytic reaction,gas adsorption,hydrogen energy and other fields recently due to their high specific surface area,large porosity,functional pore structure and species diversity.This paper briefly summarizes the application of MOFs in petrochemical industry.Breakthrough progresses made in recent years were introduced in detail.In addition,challenges in developing MOFs materials,the research and development trend,and the possibility of the MOFs applied as an adsorbent,catalyst and membrane materials,as well as the profound potential impact on the field of petrochemical industry were analyzed.
