High wash-resistant antimicrobial textile finishing

There is a growing awareness of antimicrobial finished products among consumers that is also reflected in the media. In particular, aspects concerning toxicology and ecology are being discussed in public and among scientists. In this article, 2 different technological concepts for textile finishing with high wash-resistant antimicrobial properties are presented. The protection objectives of antimicrobial finishes are particularly found in hygiene-protected clothing textiles, bedding and home textiles. Here the focus is on protection from bacteria and fungi. In the case of home textiles and technical articles, the emphasis is on preventing fungi and algae infestation.
