The TangShan Research Institute of Group Technology has been engaged in the develop-ment of GT for the light industry machinery building factories since 1980.Under its overall supervisionmore than 8 factories have applied GT to drawing control and process planning,while 4 of them reorga-nized their machine shops into GT cells and the throughput capabilities were raisd immediately by 15 toeven 49%.Since the existing GT coding systems predict only the global characteristics of machine parts,theirapplication alone is unable to transfer all the information needed for the CAD/CAM integration in aCIM environment.From the very beginning of 1989,we started to study the feasibility of introducingconcepts of Functional Form Features into GT codes.Based on the exhaustive study of nearly 100,000part drawings from machineries for making pottery and porcelain appliances,cigarette,paper pulp,glass bottles,plastics moulding,beer and beverage filling etc.,a new GT/FFF coding system wasworked out and a corresponding set of standard drawings assembled from FFF primitives Was formulat-ed which can cover up to 65—75% of existing parts from light industry machineries.FFF based GTcodes greatly facilitate the standardization control of released drawings,accelerate the engineering de-sign and process planning,and certainly will play an important role in the future CIM organization. 相似文献

Modelling capability for products to be designed and manufactured plays an important role in order to effectively construct and utilize CAD/CAM systems. Product models should represent all the information about products, which is utilized in manufacturing processes. Therefore it is required that they describe functional structures of machine products, and include not only geometric information but also various non-geometric data, such as physical, technological and management data. Presently there do not seem to exist definite methods or theories for constructing product models. In this paper, we first investigate the whole manufacturing process, and propose a system structure for integration of CAD/CAM, in which product modelling plays a fundamental role. Then requirements for product modelling are studied thoroughly, and a new representation framework for product models is proposed. It consists of an object concept called frame, relations among frames and attributes, and it can incorporate the existing various modelling capabilities, such as solid modelling. We use this representation framework in combination with our solid modelling package GEOMAP-III, and show the effectiveness of this approach by performing illustrative design experiments. 相似文献

The trend to integrated information processing (CAD/ CAM) leads to some new requiements. Consistent information processing in the presparation of production and in the production process demands an efficient division of labour between man and machine, the future-oriented engineer having to be especially prepared for this. In the present paper the resulting new demands on training and education are formulated. The essential features of integrated systems of automated information processing are characterized, and fundamental problems of the complex decision findings are explained from the angle of the manufacturing engineering. Computer aided process planning (CAPP) systems have had limited success in integrating business functions and product manufacturing due to the inaccessibility and incompatibility of information residing in proprietary software. While large companies have developed or purchased complex order management and engineering applications, smaller manufacturers continue to use semi-automated and manual methods for managing information throughout the lifecycle of each new product and component. There is a need for reconfigurable and reprogrammable systems that combine advances in computer aided design (CAD/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) technology and intelligent machining with product data management for documentation and cost control. The goal of this research is to demonstrate an architecture in which customer service, CAPP and a costing methodology known as activity based costing (ABC) are incorporated into a single system, thereby allowing companies to monitor and study how expenditures are incurred and which resources are being used by each job. The material presented in this paper is the result of a two year university and industry sponsored research project in which professors and students at the Costa Rica Institute of Technology developed a software application for FEMA Industrial S.A., a local machining and fabrication shop with sixty five employees and both conventional and CNC capabilities. The final results represent not only a significant contribution to local industry and to the students’ education but, also to the continuing growth of CAPP. Implementing better decision making tools and standardizing transactions in digital format would reduce the workload on critical personnel and archive valuable knowledge for analyzing company methods and expertise. 相似文献

For accomplishing low-attended manufacture, step by step, it is necessary that information handling in technological production planning, management and shop control processes is organized economically. This is especially true with respect to computer-aided product development and production planning, faster order throughput, control of production equipment and delivery of information needed for high equipment utilization with a simultaneous increase in the volume of data processed automatically. These complex requirements call for a new type of approach in information handling technology (CAD/CAM) and corresponding layouts of workstations for the designer and manufacturing engineer. Modelling of changes in atmospheric radiation within the last decade is considered. First, vertical atmospheric radiation profiles are considered as a sample of functional variables and the dependence on time is estimated by a non-parametric regression (kernel smoothing). As a main result, parametric functional multiplicative regression models are provided. In particular, non-periodic models are motivated in a straightforward way by the observed data, while periodic proposals respect a hypothetical relation between atmospheric radiation and the 11-years solar cycle.
