下塔吉尔钢铁公司,在设法提高平炉生产能力和使用寿命的过程中,对完善平炉结构和设备、采用机械化手段改进炉子修理系统、提高本厂生产的耐火材料质量与耐火材料的合理重复使用、完善炉子供热制度、用氧与压缩空气强化冶炼的方法以及保证炉子及其设备的定期检修和炉子检修质量与热工工作的逐工序检查都非常重视,从而缩短了熔化期和精炼期。炉子和设备的现代化该厂单上升道平炉采用废钢-矿石法炼钢,铁水配比为55～58％,固体氧化剂耗量为20～40公斤/吨钢。在炉子改造过程中,考虑了炉子热工和冶炼工艺的主要特点以及车间与全厂的发展前景(包括生态学问题)。
