Under the guidance of the Electric Vehicle Demonstration Act, administered by the Department of Energy, Office of Transportation Programs, the energy efficiency of a dc chopper motor drive was investigated [1]. With the aid of a data acquisition system, data points were taken for a parametric load profile at multiple constant speed settings. The data points were used to determine motor performance when energized from a dc source; and to determine motor performance and heat loss when receiving energy from the propulsion battery through the dc controller. Power losses in the dc controller and the propulsion battery were also determined during the latter test run. The constant speed and parametric load torque performance data are converted into constant power/torque variable speed data and presented graphically. 相似文献

DC chopper propulsion speed control is attained by a solid-state switch whose variable on-off duty cycle transfers a proportional quantity of pulsed energy into a motor. The pulsed battery current is alternately stored and expended within the dc motor and its series connected dc choke during each period of conduction and succeeding freewheeling operating mode. Hence an energy transfer is maintained transforming a high voltage low dc supply into a lower voltage higher dc demanding load. The transformation ratio is considered a controlled variable by simply controlling the on-off conduction duty cycle of its solid-state switch. This simplistic approach, however, fails to recognize that the instantaneous battery current amplitude equals the motor current demand during the switch ``on' period resulting in potentially very large peak power demands [1]. 相似文献

A comprehensive digital computer-based analysis using a state-space model which predicts the performance of a dc series motor controlled by a multiphase chopper is presented. The analysis is based on the formulation of system equations in multivariable state-space form and takes into account the nonlinear magnetization curve and the variation of field inductance with load current. The predicted results based on this analysis are shown to agree with the test results on a practical drive system developed for this purpose in which the dc series motor is driven by a microprocessor-based three-phase thyristor chopper. A solid-state induction motor speed regulating scheme using a rotor chopper-controlled external resistor is investigated. This control scheme provides continuous and contactless variation of rotor resistance and thereby eliminates the undesirable features of the conventional rotor resistance control method. A thorough analysis of the steady-state performance of the system is presented. Both dc and ac circuit models are derived to describe the performance characteristics when the chopper operates under the time-ratio control (TRC) strategy. Effects of machine parameters on performance characteristics are studied. Theoretical results from the model are verified by comparison with experimental results. The torque?speed characteristic of this speed control system is essentially linear for a particular time ratio. 相似文献

In this paper, comparative study of two schemes of four-quadrant GTO converter-fed DC motor drive is carried out. The schemes considered are (i) a PWM GTO dual converter and (ii) a single PWM GTO converter with a static reversing switch. Both of them offer superior performances compared to conventional line commutated converter-fed DC motor drives. The performances of the two schemes are compared for the case of both open-loop and closed-loop speed control systems.
