Lipid compositions of two non-conventional oilseeds (Irvingia gabonensis and Treculia africana) were studied. Total lipids were extracted by the Folch method and phospholipids were isolated by solid phase extraction. Fatty acid compositions of total lipids and phospholipids were determined by gas chromatography. Phospholipid classes and tocopherols were quantified by HPLC. The major fatty acids in I. gabonensis seed total lipids were myristic (41.4–48.9 %) and lauric (39.8–46.8 %) while those in T. africana seed were linoleic (29.1–31.4 %) and oleic (22.9–25.9 %). The principal fatty acid at the sn-2 position of I. gabonensis seed triacylglycerols was myristic (49.5 %) while that of T. africana was linoleic (50.6 %). Phospholipid content of crude T. africana seed oil was 3.3 % and that of I. gabonensis was 0.1–0.3 %. The composition and distribution of saturated fatty acids in I. gabonensis seed lipids suggest that it may contribute to cardiovascular disease risk factors among the Igbo people in Nigeria that use the seed as food ingredient.  相似文献

This paper focused on the main composition of Cephalotaxus fortunei nuts, the physicochemical property of its oils, the fatty acid profiles and the content of alkaloids and tocopherol in the nuts oils. And these elements were compared among three kinds of C. fortunei nuts and their oil. The results showed the C. fortunei nuts contained about 65 % crude oil. Meanwhile, the content of crude protein, crude fiber, moisture, ash and reduced sugar were presented, respectively. The important physicochemical indicators of the crude C. fortunei nuts oils were presented, including specific gravity, refractive index, viscosity, acid value and saponification value, etc. The contents of alkaloids were 0.41 % in NUT1, 0.24 % in NUT2 and 0.31 % in NUT3. The contents of tocopherol were low. The analysis of the fatty acid composition showed that the three kinds of oils were all rich in unsaturated fatty acids, oleic acid and linoleic acid, and the main triacylglycerols were dioleoyl-monolinoleoyl (OLO) and triolein (OOO). This work might help with the exploration of the applications of C. fortunei nuts and its oil.  相似文献

Chemical composition and physical properties of CW88‐OL and CW99‐OL cultivars of high oleic safflower seeds and their hexane‐extracted oils were determined. Dry‐based seed composition of CW88‐OL and CW99‐OL was: moisture = 4.29 and 4.23 %, oil = 42.29 and 46.44 %, Crude protein = 20.94 and 16.41 %, neutral detergent fiber = 28.11 and 28.49 %, ash = 1.55 and 2.01 %, phosphorus content = 2033 and 3995 mg/kg, respectively. Major fatty acids in oils were ~78 % oleic (O), ~13 % linoleic (L), ~5 % palmitic (P) and ~2 % stearic (St) acids, for both cultivars. The main triacylglycerols were OOO (~50 %), OOL (~20 %), SOL + OPO (~10 %), and LLP (~5 %). The oil composition of CW88‐OL and CW99‐OL in main minor components was: α‐tocopherol = 582 and 551 mg/kg, total sterols = 3996 and 3362 mg/kg, phospholipids = 22 and 21 mg/kg and wax content = 70 and 74 mg/kg. For both cultivars, density and viscosity of the oils between 25 and 55 °C varied from 903.4 to 912.6 kg/m3 and 63 to 23 mPa.s showing linear and exponential behaviors, respectively. The refractive index was 1.4694. The CIELab color parameters were: 89.69 and 89.53 (L*), ?3.72 and ?3.07 (a*), and 47.28 and 47.78 (b*) (CW88‐OL and CW99‐OL, respectively). Thus, the high oil content of the seeds and nutritional quality of the oil accompanied by low levels of waxes and phospholipids makes the cultivars studied promising for producers and consumers.  相似文献

Various components of Phoenix tree (Firmiana simplex) seed were determined. Oil, protein, moisture, ash, and fiber accounted for 27.8 ± 0.3, 19.7 ± 0.4, 7.5 ± 0.2, 4.4 ± 0.3, and 31.23 ± 0.93 % (w/w) of the seed, respectively. The acid value, peroxide value, saponification value, and unsaponifiable matter content of Phoenix tree seed oil extracted using the Soxhlet method were 3.73 ± 0.02 mg KOH/g, 1.97 ± 0.21 mmol/kg, 183.74 ± 2.37 mg KOH/g, and 0.90 ± 0.05 g/100 g, respectively. The total tocopherol content was 54.5 ± 0.5 mg/100 g oil, which consisted mainly of δ‐tocopherol (29.5 ± 0.6 mg/100 g oil) and γ‐tocopherol (13.8 ± 0.8 mg/100 g oil). Linoleic acid (L, 30.2 %), oleic acid (O, 22.2 %), and sterculic acid (S, 23.2 %) were the main unsaturated fatty acids of Phoenix tree seed oil. The saturated fatty acids included palmitic acid (17.4 %) and stearic acid (St, 2.9 %). The work shows the first report of sterculic acid in seeds of this species. This oil can be used as a raw material to produce sterculic acid.  相似文献

Physicochemical characteristics, antioxidant capacity (AC), and sensory quality of rapeseed oils available on the Polish market were analyzed and compared. The fatty acid composition (saturated fatty acids = 6.91–7.58%, monounsaturated fatty acids = 64.14–66.14%, and polyunsaturated fatty acids = 27.22–30.17%), color (T420 = 54.5–83.8%), amounts of free fatty acids (0.02–0.07%), primary (PV = 0.04–2.04 meq O2 kg−1) and secondary (AV = 1.02–3.21) oxidation products, phosphorus (0.38–1.62 mg kg−1), chlorophyll (0.002–0.068 mg kg−1), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (Σ4PAH = 0.00–2.50 μg kg−1) in the commercial rapeseed oils meet the requirements of the European Food Regulation and Codex Alimentarius standards. Moreover, total phenolic content (TPC = 40.3–467.9 mg SA kg−1) in the studied oils significantly differs from each other. However, the AC of rapeseed oils was analyzed using the novel iron oxide nanoparticle-based (IONP = 5552.1 − 18,510.2 μmol TE/100 g) method and the modified ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP = 55.7–280.3 μmol TE/100 g), cupric reducing AC (CUPRAC = 79.6–784.0 μmol TE/100 g), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH = 185.7–516.7 μmol TE/100 g), and 2,2′-azinobis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS = 465.6–2142.6 μmol TE/100 g) assays. Principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) were applied for discrimination of the refined rapeseed oils based on fatty acid composition, physicochemical parameters, AC, and sensory properties.  相似文献

The organic olives from Çine-Ayd?n (Turkey) were washed with tap or ozonated water for 2 and 5 min, respectively, and pressed to olive oil. The effects of wash treatments on fatty acid composition and several quality parameters of the oils were determined. The maximum values after 2-min ozonated water washes were 9.58 meqO2/kg, 0.73%, 2.44 and 0.16 for peroxide, free acid, K232 and K270 values, respectively, which were under the standard limits for extra-virgin olive oil. Five min of ozonated water washes also yielded acceptable results, except for a slight excess on K232 value. Ozonated water washes had almost no effect on fatty acid composition.  相似文献

The physico-chemical properties of two species of Bauhinia seed oils (Bauhinia variegata and Bauhinia malabarica, N.O. Leguminoseae) were investigated. The amounts of oil extracted from both seeds were 16%. Fatty Acid composition as determined by GLC for Bauhinia variegata and Bauhinia malabarica revealed the presence of linolenic (0.55%, 0.81%), Linoleic (36.84%, 47.26%) oleic (26.14%, 15.26%), stearic (16.95%, 19.29%), palmitic (19.52%, 17.18%) and myristic (traces, 0.20%) acids respectively. It has been observed that the seed variety influences to a great extent the distribution of fatty acids in the seeds oil. The residual meal after the extraction of oil contains 41% and 25% protein in Bauhinia variegata and Bauhinia malabarica respectively.  相似文献

The proximate, physicochemical, and fatty acid compositions of seed oil extracted from khat (Catha edulis) were determined. The oil, moisture, crude protein, crude fiber, crude carbohydrate, and ash content in seeds were 35.54, 6.63, 24, 1.01, 30.4 %, and 1.32 g/100 g DW respectively. The free fatty acids, peroxide value, saponification value, and iodine value were 2.98 %, 12.65 meq O2/kg, 190.60 mg KOH/g, and 145 g/100 g oil, respectively. Linolenic acid (C18:3, 50.80 %) and oleic (C18:1, 16.96 %) along with palmitic acid (C16:0, 14.60 %) were the dominant fatty acids. The seed oil of khat can be used in industry for the preparation of liquid soaps and shampoos. Furthermore, high levels of unsaturated fatty acids make it an important source of nutrition especially as an animal product substitute for omega‐3 fatty acids owing to the high content of linolenic acid.  相似文献

Seed oils sourced from West Africa are generally not well-characterized, but likely to have an untapped potential. This review aims to make an overview of fatty acid (FA) composition of unconventional seed oils from semi-arid West African trees and evaluate potential for new and enhanced uses and for improving local livelihoods and biodiversity conservation. A total of 111 studies on FA composition were found, covering 31 species. Only 69 of the studies (62%) were included in the review, as 38% had unreliable or incomplete results. There was a clear link between taxonomic kinship and FA composition. Over 20 potentially interesting and underexploited oils were found, including oils with properties similar to palm oil, olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and cotton seed oil. About half of the oils have promising potential for cosmetics. One third of the oils were relatively saturated, indicating properties for structuring food and heat resistance. Most of the species had multiple uses and oil production could be profitable in co-production with other non-timber forest products. Furthermore, establishment of sustainable oil production and domestication of oil trees could promote biodiversity conservation. Enhanced oil production in semi-arid West Africa is promising, but several practical constraints remain to be overcome.  相似文献

A continuous rise in demand for vegetable oils, which comprise mainly the storage lipid triacylglycerol, is fueling a surge in research efforts to increase seed oil content and improve fatty acid composition in oilseed crops. Progress in this area has been achieved using both conventional breeding and transgenic approaches to date. However, further advancements using traditional breeding methods will be complicated by the polyploid nature of many oilseed crops and associated time constraints, while public perception and the prohibitive cost of regulatory processes hinders the commercialization of transgenic oilseed crops. As such, genome editing using CRISPR/Cas is emerging as a breakthrough breeding tool that could provide a platform to keep pace with escalating demand while potentially minimizing regulatory burden. In this review, we discuss the technology itself and progress that has been made thus far with respect to its use in oilseed crops to improve seed oil content and quality. Furthermore, we examine a number of genes that may provide ideal targets for genome editing in this context, as well as new CRISPR-related tools that have the potential to be applied to oilseed plants and may allow additional gains to be made in the future.  相似文献

The physicochemical and fatty acid compositions of seed oil extracted from Thunbergia fragrans were determined. The oil content, free fatty acids, peroxide value, saponification value and iodine value were 21.70 %, 2.25 % (as oleic acid), 9.6 (mequiv. O2/kg), 191.71 (mg KOH/g) and 127.84 (g/100 g oil) respectively. The fatty acid profiles of the methyl esters showed the presence of 90.16 % unsaturated fatty acids and 9.84 % saturated fatty acids. Palmitoleic acid, which is usually found in marine foods and is unique in seed oils of botanical origin, was the major component (79.24 %). The oil can also be used in industries for the preparation of liquid soaps, shampoos and alkyd resin.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to compare the fatty acid composition, PUFA:SFA ratio, n6/n3 ratio, and TFA of different farm animal meats and offal products. These products were collected at a regional farm in Istanbul which is the most populous city in Turkey. The results of fatty acid composition analysis indicated that the major fatty acids of C16:0 (18.00–29.35 %), C18:0 (4.10–29.71 %), C18:1 (29.21–57.30 %), and C18:2 (1.37–18.60 %) were found in the samples. The total saturated fatty acids, total monounsaturated fatty acids and total polyunsaturated fatty acids content of the samples ranged between 30.00 and 61.83 %, 32.24 and 57.80 %, and 1.64 and 23.60 %, respectively (p < 0.05). Except for turkey abdominal fat, TFA content in all other samples showed a variation between 0.10 and 3.36 %. The PUFA:SFA ratio was higher in turkey meat (0.64) and was lower in sheep kidney fat (0.02). Moreover, the n6/n3 PUFA ratio changed between 2.90 and 22.28 (p < 0.05).  相似文献

Lipid content and fatty acid composition were determined in edible meat of fifteen marine fish species caught on the Southeast Brazilian coast and two from East Antarctic. Most of the fish had lipid amounts lower than 10% of their total weight. Palmitic acid (C16:0) predominated, accounting for 54–63% of the total amount of saturated fatty acids. Oleic acid (C18:1n-9) was the most abundant (49–69%) monounsaturated fatty acid, and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) was the predominant polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), accounting for 31–84% of n-3 PUFA. n-3 PUFA level were highest in Antarctic fish meat, comprising 45% of the total fatty acid content, which consisted of mainly EPA (16.1 ± 1.5 g/100 g lipids) and DHA (24.8 ± 2.4 g/100 g lipids). The amounts of EPA + DHA in g/100 g of lipids on the Southeast Brazilian coast and Antarctic fish species investigated were found to be similar: 42.0 ± 1.7 for Bonito cachorro, 41.0 ± 2.3 for Atum, and 39.4 ± 1.8 for peixe porco, respectively. All the studied species exhibited an n-3/n-6 ratio higher than 3, which confirms the great importance of Southeast Brazilian coast fish as a significant dietary source of n-3 PUFA.  相似文献

Specific structured lipids (SSL), previously produced by enzymatic acidolysis of coconut oil with different levels of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) as fatty acid (FA), using a sn-1, 3 specific immobilized lipase, were used to prepare randomized structured lipids (RSL). A fraction of each SSL was subjected to chemical interesterification with sodium methoxide catalyst in order to modify the FA positional distribution and produce the corresponding RSL. Both families of structured lipids (SL) containing CLA were physicochemically characterized. Then, analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to evaluate the effects of CLA content (10, 20, 30 and 40%) and FA positional distribution (specific and randomized) on physicochemical properties of SL. Free fatty acids (FFA), peroxide value (PV) and p-anisidine value (p-AV) were not significantly affected by either CLA content or distribution. As expected, the iodine value (IV) and saponification value (SV) were influenced by CLA content but not by FA positional distribution, while oxidative stability index (OSI) was affected by both factors. Dropping point (DP), cloud point (CP) and solid fat content (SFC) decreased with the increase of CLA, while viscosity increased with the level of CLA. The FA positional distribution affected practically all the evaluated physical properties of SL, except CP and DP.  相似文献

This study compared the profiles of fatty acids, phytosterols, and polyamine conjugates in conventional commercial corn oil extracted from corn germ and in two “new-generation” corn oils: hexane-extracted corn fiber oil and ethanol-extracted corn kernel oil. The fatty acid compositions of all three corn oils were very similar and were unaffected by degumming, refining, bleaching, and deodorization. The levels of total phytosterols in crude corn fiber oil were about tenfold higher than those in commercial corn oil, and their levels in crude corn kernel oil were more than twofold higher than in conventional corn oil. When corn kernel oil was subjected to conventional degumming, refining, bleaching, and deodorization, about half of the phytosterols was removed, whereas when corn fiber oil was subjected to a gentle form of degumming, refining, bleaching, and deodorization, only about 10% of the phytosterols was removed. Finally, when the levels of polyamine conjugates (diferuloylputrescine and p-coumaroyl feruloylputrescine) were examined in these corn oils, they were only detected in the ethanol-extracted crude corn kernel oil, confirming earlier reports that they were not extracted by hexane, and providing new information that they could be removed from ethanol-extracted corn kernel oil by conventional degumming, refining, bleaching, and deodorizing.  相似文献

Sesame mutants with closed capsules, determinate growth habit and wilt resistance, have been proposed to be suitable for intensive management conditions facilitating mechanized harvesting. The objective of our experiment was to determine the oil content and fatty acid composition of these mutants before they are placed on the market. Oil content and fatty acids were studied in 19 mutants, 6 breeding lines and 4 control source genotypes. The oil contents of the seeds ranged from 46.4 to 62.7%. The mutants had generally a lower oil content than the control genotypes except the wilting tolerant group. For unsaturated fatty acids, oleic acid was higher in the mutants and breeding lines while linoleic acid was lower in the seed oil. However, no mutants or breeding lines were found with radically different composition or with any undesirable lipid component. The closed capsule and determinate growth habit mutants need to be improved for oil content while their fatty acid composition is fine.  相似文献
