The first drift-tube neutron generator in Thailand, developed during 1980s under the support by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), was a 150 kV deuteron accelerator-based 14 MeV fast neutron generator. The accelerator was featured by a nanosecond pulsing system consisting of a beam chopper in combination with a beam buncher. Following the rapid development of ion beam technology and increasing needs for materials applications in the laboratory, the accelerator has been upgraded and modified to a large extent into a medium-energy ion-accelerator for time-of-flight Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (TOF-RBS) applications. The modification of the accelerator included the changing of the ion source, the accelerating tube and the mass-analyzing magnet, the upgrading of the pulsing system, and the installation of a TOF-RBS detecting system. The new accelerator is capable of supplying a 400-keV He-ion beam with ns-pulses for nano-layered materials analysis. This paper provides technical details of the modification. 相似文献

A high-efficiency inertial electrostatic confinement (IEC) neutron generator consists of linear IEC fusion chamber and ionization
chambers at both ends, connected by an externally applied magnetic field. A pair of deuterium beams is produced in the ionization
chambers that are positively biased so as to accelerate deuterium ions along the magnetic field towards the reaction chamber.
For the purpose of achieving high-efficiency, the counter-streaming beam column is focused to form a thin filament. Such a
configuration must avoid beam-driven instabilities such as the two-beam instability and Weibel’s instability. The stability
analysis is performed showing that these modes are stabilized by an externally applied magnetic field parallel to the ion
beams. The required magnetic field is less than several of 0.1 Tesla. Thus highly efficient neutron generator is potentially
possible with counter-streaming ion beams focused and stabilized by an external magnetic field. An example giving specifications

文章研究用混合D-T束密封中子发生器进行中子照相的14MeV中子慢化问题,提出了用高密度聚乙烯和铅相结合慢化14MeV中子的结构,实验证实,在源附近加一定厚度的铅层可以把热化比降低三分之一左右。这种结构的热化比是用水慢化14MeV中子的热化比的1/2—1/3。慢化体加铅后对中子束镉比的影响并不很大。 相似文献

To obtain multiple monoenergetic neutron sources and realize the on-site calibration of radiation monitoring equipment for nuclear-involved places,the structural characteristics and neutron source features of D-T neutron tube were analyzed;Monte Carlo method was adopted to simulate the effect of interaction between typical materials and different energy neutrons;multilayered shielding materials were combined and optimized to acquire the optimal scheme to shield the neutron sources from the neutron tube.On the base,a tapered alignment filtration construction was designed and Monte Carlo method was employed to simulate the effect of alignment construction.The result showed that the tapered alignment filtration construction can create monoenergetic neutrons including14.1 MeV,0.18 MeV and thermal neutrons and demonstrated good monochrome performance which provides multiple monoenergetic sources for the on-site calibration. 相似文献
