The orientation relationship between magnetic domain and twins in the directional solidified Ni52Fe17Ga27Co4 magnetic shape memory alloy was analyzed by electron backscatter diffraction and magnetic force microscopy. The twin interface plane was determined to be \( \{ \bar{1}10\} \) plates. The magnetic domains walls with a misorientation about 5 deg belong to low angle boundaries. According to the orientation relationship between twins and magnetic domains, the intersection angle on the observed surface can be estimated.  相似文献

The effect of planar flow melt spinning (PFMS) parameters on the continuity, surface quality, and structure of 10-mm-wide Fe68.5Si18.5B9Nb3Cu1 ribbons has been investigated. The change in shape and stability of the melt puddle as a function of the processing parameter was studied using a high-speed imaging system and was correlated to ribbon formation. A window of process parameters for obtaining continuous ribbons with good surface quality has been evaluated. It has been observed that thinner ribbons are found to be more continuous because of higher ductility. The higher melt temperature leads to the formation of crystalline phase in as-spun ribbons, and this deteriorates the soft magnetic properties on annealing. The experimental results are corroborated with the numerical estimates, which suggest that the critical thickness for amorphous phase formation decreases with increasing initial melt temperature.  相似文献

An Fe41Co7Cr15Mo14C15B6Y2 bulk metallic glass with a diameter of 5 mm was prepared with the copper-mold-casting method. The corrosion resistance of this amorphous steel in sulfuric-acid solutions was determined by electrochemical measurements. The passive film formed on the surface of the alloy after immersion in the 0.5-mol/l H2SO4 solution for 1 week was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Electrochemical measurements show that the corrosion resistance of the amorphous steel in the 1 mol/l-H2SO4 solution is superior to a stainless steel (SUS 321), and is almost the same as Ti6Al4V, which shows that the amorphous steel has an excellent corrosion resistance in sulfuric-acid solutions. As the concentration of the sulfuric-acid solutions increases from 0.5 mol/l to 4 mol/l, the corrosion resistance of the amorphous steel decreases. The XPS result reveals that a bilayer structure of protective film formed on the surface of the amorphous steel in a H2SO4 solution. The compositions of the inner part of the film are MoO2, Cr2O3, CoO, and FeO, and those of the outer film are MoO3, Cr(OH)3, Co(OH)2, and Fe(OH)3.  相似文献

The glass series with general formula 15 Li2O–(85 − x) B2O3x La2O3 was prepared. Electrical and optical properties of these glasses were studied. It is observed that the conductivity of these glasses decreases while density, glass transition temperature and refractive index increases with the addition of La2O3. Ion concentration of La3+ in glasses, polaron radius, field strength, molar refractivity and molar electronic polarizability were calculated. The absorption coefficient and direct optical band gaps are evaluated using the absorption edge calculations. The different factors that play a role for controlling the refractive indices such as electronic polarizability, field strength of cations and rigidity of glass structure are discussed in accordance with the obtained index data.  相似文献

The electrochemical behavior of amorphous and nanocrystalline soft magnetic Fe79P13Si5V3 alloy in a 0.1 M Na2SO4 solution has been studied. Mössbauer studies show that the electrochemical characteristics of the alloy are comparable with those of an Finemet Fe77Si13B7Nb2.1Cu0.9 alloy, whereas the studied alloy is inexpensive and can be prepared using natural alloy ferrophosphorus containing vanadium and silicon.  相似文献

Aiming at devising new mold flux for Ce-bearing stainless steel, a fundamental investigation on the effect of Ce2O3 on properties of the CaO-Al2O3-Li2O-Ce2O3 slag was provided by the present work. The results show that adding Ce2O3 could decrease the viscosity of the slag due to its effects on decreasing the polymerization of the slag. The crystalline process was restrained by increasing the content of Ce2O3, and the crystalline phases also can be influenced by the slag structure. The crystalline phases were transferred from LiAlO2 and CaO to LiAlO2 and CaCeAlO4 with the addition of Ce2O3 to the slag, which could be well confirmed by the structure of the unit cell of the crystals.  相似文献

The high-energy ball-milling method was used for fabricating Ni50Mn36.7In13.3 fine-sized particles. The as-melt polycrystalline Ni50Mn36.7In13.3 alloy exhibits a 14 M modulated martensite structure at room temperature (RT). The atomic pair distribution function analysis together with the differential scanning calorimetry technique proved that the 14 M modulated martensite transformed to a metastable amorphous-like structure after ball milling for 8 hours. Annealing of the ball-milled particles with the amorphous-like phase first led to the crystallization to form a B2 structure at 523 K (250 °C), and then an ordered Heusler L21 structure (with a small tetragonal distortion) at 684 K (411 °C). The annealed particles undergo different structural transitions during cooling, tailored by the atomic arrangements of the high-temperature phase. Low-field thermomagnetization measurements show that the ball-milled particles with the amorphous-like structure or the atomically disordered crystalline structure exhibit a magnetic transition from the paramagnetic-like to the spin-glass state with decreasing temperature, whereas the crystalline particles with the ordered Heusler L21 structure present a ferromagnetic behavior with the Curie temperature T c ≈ 310 K (37 °C).  相似文献

The effect of Al2O3 concentration on the density and structure of CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 slag was investigated at multiple Al2O3 mole percentages and at a fixed CaO/SiO2 ratio of 1. The experiments were conducted in the temperature range of 2154 K to 2423 K (1881 °C to 2150 °C) using the aerodynamic levitation technique. In order to understand the relationship between density and structure, structural analysis of the silicate melts was carried out using Raman spectroscopy. The density of each slag sample investigated in this study decreased linearly with increasing temperature. When the Al2O3 content was less than 15 mole pct, density decreased with increasing Al2O3 content due to the coupling of Si (Al), whereas above 20 mole pct density of the slag increased due to the role of Al3+ ion as a network modifier.  相似文献

An attempt is made to find the effect of a hereditary structure on the physicochemical and structural properties of a solid and liquid Fe50Cr15Mo14C15B6 bulk-amorphous alloy in order to evaluate the possibility of using a precursor, i.e., a solid metal that has a genetic relation to the liquid phase, as an the initial metal of a heat involved in the formation of an amorphous structure. The structural state of the melt is estimated from the temperature dependence of the structural parameters, density, and surface tension with allowance for the validation criterion of the approximation of experimental points R 2.  相似文献

Annealing studies at different temperatures, as well as those conducted with 940 MPa hydrostatic pressure, were conducted on amorphous ribbons of Al87Ni7Gd6. The studies were performed to investigate the evolution of structure under different conditions and to particularly examine the effects of superimposed hydrostatic pressure during annealing. This amorphous alloy devitrifies at low temperatures via the precipitation of nano-crystalline α-Al particles. The effects of these various exposures on the amount of devitrification have been quantified using a variety of analytical techniques (i.e., X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM)). In addition, the effects of devitrification on the mechanical properties have been quantified using microhardness indentation and uniaxial tension tests. This article is based on a presentation given in the symposium entitled “Bulk Metallic Glasses IV,” which occurred February 25–March 1, 2007 during the TMS Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida under the auspices of the TMS/ASM Mechanical Behavior of Materials Committee.

Infrared brazing of Ti50Ni50 SMA and Inconel 600 alloy using Cusil-ABA and Ticusil filler metals has been investigated. The joints were dominated by Ag-Cu eutectic with proeutectic Cu in the Cusil-ABA brazed joint and with proeutectic Ag in the Ticusil one. A continuous curved belt composed of a Ni3Ti layer and a (Cu x Ni1?x )2Ti layer formed in the brazed Ti50Ni50/Ticusil/Inconel 600 joint. On the Ti50Ni50 SMA side, an intermetallic layer of (Cu x Ni1?x )2Ti formed in all joints, with x values around 0.81 and 0.47. Layers of (Cu x Ni1?x )2Ti, Ni3Ti, and mixed Ni3Ti and Ni2Cr intermetallics were observed next to the Inconel 600 substrate in the brazed Ti50Ni50/Cusil-ABA/Inconel 600 joint. The maximum shear strengths of the joints using the Cusil-ABA filler metal and the Ticusil filler metal were 324 and 300 MPa, respectively. In the Cusil-ABA brazed joint, cracks with cleavage-dominated fracture propagated along the (Cu x Ni1?x )2Ti interfacial layer next to the Ti50Ni50 SMA substrate. In the Ticusil brazed joint, ductile dimple fracture occurred in the Ag-rich matrix near the Inconel 600 alloy substrate. The absence of a detrimental Ti-Fe-(Cu) layer on the Inconel 600 substrate side can effectively improve the shear strength of the joint.  相似文献

Pure nanocrystalline hematite (40 to 100 nm) compacts were prepared and sintered at various temperatures (300 °C to 600 °C) and then reduced with 100 pct H2 at 500 °C. On the other hand, fired compacts at 500 °C were reduced with a H2-Ar gas mixture containing different concentration of hydrogen (100, 75, 50, and 25 pct) at 500 °C using thermogravimetric techniques. Nanocrystalline Fe2O3 compacts were characterized before and after reduction with X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and reflected light microscope. It was found that the fired compacts at 400 °C to 600 °C have relatively faster reaction behaviors compared to that at lower firing temperature 300 °C. By decreasing the firing temperature to 300 °C, partial sintering with grain growth was observed clearly during reduction. Also, it was found that the reduction rate increased with increasing hydrogen content in the reducing gas. Comparatively, grain growth and partial coalescence took place during reduction with 25 pct H2 due to long reaction time.

The distributions and precipitated amounts of M23C6 carbides and MX-type carbonitrides with decreasing carbon content from 0.16 to 0.002 mass pct in 9Cr-3W steel, which is used as a heat-resistant steel, has been investigated. The microstructures of the steels are observed to be martensite. Distributions of precipitates differ greatly among the steels depending on carbon concentration. In the steels containing carbon at levels above 0.05 pct, M23C6 carbides precipitate along boundaries and fine MX carbonitrides precipitate mainly in the matrix after tempering. In 0.002 pct C steel, there are no M23C6 carbide precipitates, and instead, fine MX with sizes of 2 to 20 nm precipitate densely along boundaries. In 0.02 pct C steel, a small amount of M23C6 carbides precipitate, but the sizes are quite large and the main precipitates along boundaries are MX, as with 0.002 pct C steel. A combination of the removal of any carbide whose size is much larger than that of MX-type nitrides, and the fine distributions of MX-type nitrides along boundaries, is significantly effective for the stabilization of a variety of boundaries in the martensitic 9Cr steel.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the mechanisms of carburization and decarburization of alloy 617 in impure helium. To avoid the coupling of multiple gas/metal reactions that occurs in impure helium, oxidation studies were conducted in binary He + CO + CO2 gas mixtures with CO/CO2 ratios of 9 and 1272 in the temperature range 1123 K to 1273 K (850 °C to 1000 °C). The mechanisms were corroborated through measurements of oxidation kinetics, gas-phase analysis, and surface/bulk microstructure examination. A critical temperature corresponding to the equilibrium of the reaction 27Cr + 6CO ↔ 2Cr2O3 + Cr23C6 was identified to lie between 1173 K and 1223 K (900 °C and 950 °C) at CO/CO2 ratio 9, above which decarburization of the alloy occurred via a kinetic competition between two simultaneous surface reactions: chromia formation and chromia reduction. The reduction rate exceeded the formation rate, preventing the growth of a stable chromia film until carbon in the sample was depleted. Surface and bulk carburization of the samples occurred for a CO/CO2 ratio of 1272 at all temperatures. The surface carbide, Cr7C3, was metastable and nucleated due to preferential adsorption of carbon on the chromia surface. The Cr7C3 precipitates grew at the gas/scale interface via outward diffusion of Cr cations through the chromia scale until the activity of Cr at the reaction site fell below a critical value. The decrease in activity of chromium triggered a reaction between chromia and carbide: Cr2O3 + Cr7C3 → 9Cr+3CO, which resulted in a porous surface scale. The results show that the industrial application of the alloy 617 at T > 1173 K (900 °C) in impure helium will be limited by oxidation.  相似文献
