The effect of the substrate on pitch wetting behaviour 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The wetting behaviour of a petroleum pitch (modified with a surfactant) and a binder coal-tar pitch was studied using different substrates. The results show that both the pitch and the substrate have a significant influence on wetting behaviour, and consequently, on their mutual interactions during the mixing stage. Low values of surface tension and viscosity in the pitches lead to lower wetting temperatures. It was found that with petroleum coke and magnesia as substrates, the wetting occurs at lower temperatures than with graphite and carbon black for all pitches. Moreover, experiments carried out with amorphous and crystalline alumina revealed that the crystalline order affects the wetting behaviour considerably. Thus, whereas the pitch wets the corundum (crystallized alumina), it does not wet the amorphous alumina (basic, acid and neutral alumina). 相似文献

A new online automatic optical inspection system (OAOIS) using digital image processing has been developed to measure the coarse particle size distribution. The OAOIS is composed of particle separation module, image acquisition module, image processing and analysis module and PC/PLC-based electric control module. Experiments were performed with non-uniform particles (1-100 mm). The particle size distribution, number of the particles, and accumulated weight percentages of particles are obtained by using the developed system. The experimental results show that the repeated precision of accumulated weight percentages is around ± 1%. To improve the reliability and accuracy of the OAOIS measuring results, the linear regression equation is applied to mapping the result of OAOIS to that of traditional net sieving system (TNSS). It has been shown that the developed system has a high accuracy and precision for coarse particle sizing distribution. 相似文献

Asbestos has been identified as priority substance for risk reduction and pollution prevention given its carcinogenic effects. Because of its wide occupational exposures and widespread use in commerce in the past, there is a big concern that it may present a general health hazard. Therefore, the identification of asbestos‐containing materials and their neutralization has become a topic plan of social prevention and intervention in many European and American countries. If the presence of asbestos in buildings (i.e., schools) is detected, the abatement program usually accomplishes the removal of the asbestos‐containing materials and displacement in controlled waste disposals (ex situ technique). Removal has many disadvantages: high costs, large production of toxic refuses, high risks of exposure for removal workers, and high risk of environmental pollution during and after the operations. Thus, the search for alternative in situ techniques has been recently promoted and full impregnation seems to be the best candidate given its reduced risks for both workers and environment, and its low costs. In this paper, a technique for the in situ full impregnation of asbestos by an epoxy polymeric resin is proposed, and the results of its application for the neutralization of either chrysotile or amphibole asbestos‐containing materials is described. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
