An integrated laboratory for system modeling, simulation, real-time digital signal processing, and control is being developed at Bucknell University for undergraduate electrical engineering education. The laboratory bridges the gap between software simulation and testing of actual systems through a common visual programming interface. Students can explore the iterative process of developing a model and then refining the model until computer simulation results agree with experimental measurements. A liquid level control system is presented to illustrate the features of the laboratory environment. The key components of the laboratory are networked digital signal processing (DSP) hardware units and a simulation software package. The simulation software runs on workstations, and all of the laboratory equipment (including the DSP hardware) is connected to the Internet  相似文献

The authors present a real-time network using an optical-fiber transmission line and implement the prototype network system for a proposed integrated digital protection and control system. A single network structure is investigated which supports both protection and control functions. It realizes high-speed communications among the power equipment. As a communication protocol the IEEE 802.4 token passing bus protocol with fiber-optic medium is employed, taking substation environments into account. Two implementation schemes for the communication scheme are suggested which are based on the IEEE 802.4 specifications. An allocation method is presented for setting the network parameter and some performance indices are analyzed. Through the experiments, it is shown that the proposed prototype network system satisfies the necessary requirements in substations  相似文献

In this paper, a novel combined rate, power and cell control scheme that minimizes transmit bit energy while gracefully implementing the congestion control is proposed and studied. The reverse link in a code division multiple access (CDMA) system with a high degree of traffic fluctuation temporally as well as spatially is considered. The proposed radio resource management scheme attempts to reduce the interference power variation among base station antennas that can exist in a real radio network. Transmission rates of those users in the congested (non-congested) cells are decreased (increased); hence, the proposed scheme is appropriate for delay-insensitive variable-bit-rate applications. Minimization of average transmit bit energy is achieved, subject to maintenance of individual target Eb/I0 for each user. Two algorithms, one directly minimizing the transmit bit energy, and the other doing so indirectly using the measured pilot power, are presented. It can be shown that both algorithms select the optimal base station if forward- and reverse-link gains are reciprocal; however, the latter gain is decentralized and uses only the local measurements and is amenable for practical implementation.  相似文献

This paper presents a solution to the problem of digitally implementing backstepping adaptive control for linear systems. The continuous‐time system to be controlled is given a discrete‐time representation in the δ‐operator. A discrete adaptive backstepping controller is then designed for such a discrete‐time model. The effect of the modelling error, generated by the sampling process, is accounted for in the parameter update law by a σ‐modification. It is shown that all the signals (discrete and continuous) of the closed loop are uniformly bounded, with a region of attraction which is a K function of the sampling rate. An upper bound on the asymptotic tracking error is then given, and shown to be proportional to the sampling period. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Increasing use of electrical power to drive automobile subsystems, which historically have been driven by a combination of mechanical and hydraulic power transfer systems, is seen as a dominant trend in advanced automotive power systems. This trend manifests itself through the more-electric-cars (MEC) concept, which requires highly reliable, fault-tolerant, and cost-effective electrical systems. This paper introduces the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) Program and a series of multidisciplinary student team projects focused on applications of electrical systems in advanced automobiles. IIT's interprofessional course engages multidisciplinary teams of students in semester-long projects. It delivers a team-oriented project-based requirement within the undergraduate curriculum. Among its many benefits, the interprofessional course offers the opportunity to integrate the education and research environment of the university and, in this case, introduces students to the role of electrical systems in emerging automotive platforms that offer numerous research and technology application opportunities for electrical engineers.  相似文献

This paper addresses a study of fault‐tolerant control (FTC) for wireless networked control systems (WNCSs) in industrial automatic processes. The WNCSs is composed of many subsystems, which operate with different sampling cycles. In order to meet the real‐time requirements and ensure a deterministic data transmission, the time division multiple access (TDMA) mechanism is adopted in WNCSs. The data in WNCSs are transmitted following a TDMA‐based scheduler. According to the periodicity, WNCSs integrated with the scheduler is first formulated as discrete linear time periodic systems (LTPSs). Afterwards, a fault estimation method for LTPSs is developed under a H performance specification with a regional pole constraint. With the achieved state observer and fault estimator, an FTC strategy for LTPSs is explored. Finally, the proposed methods are verified on a physical experimental WiNC platform. 变电站数字化、智能化为站域信息共享提供了技术保障,因此开发了一种新型数字化集成保护控制(DIPC)系统。系统主要由设备层智能终端(IT)、合并单元(MU)和系统层多功能保护控制器(MPCU)三大核心部分构成,分别给出了它们的硬件架构和软件设计方案。该系统基于IEC61850标准,采用两级相量计算和保护起动判据,提高了保护的快速性和可靠性。测试结果表明,该系统可对故障作出快速、可靠的反应,其集成通信和运算能力满足保护跳闸的要求。  相似文献

The authors present the design of a laboratory with software and hardware structures for digital and physical simulation in the area of power systems control education. The hardware structure includes a physically based model of the power system. The software structure includes a special man-machine interface designed with a graphical user interface approach. This interface allows the user full control over the simulation and provides facilities for the study of the response of the simulated system. In the book (Adaptive Identification, Prediction and Control—Multi Level Recursive Approach), the concept of dynamical linearization of nonlinear systems has been presented. This dynamical linearization is formal only, not a real linearization. From the linearization procedure, we can find a new approach of system identification, which is on-line real-time modeling and real-time feedback control correction. The modeling and real-time feedback control have been integrated in the identification approach, with the parameter adaptation model being abandoned. The structure adaptation of control systems has been achieved, which avoids the complex modeling steps. This paper discusses an integrated teaching laboratory approach to multivariable control as part of final year undergraduate and graduate control courses successfully taught by the authors in recent years. The perceived jump in mathematical sophistication required of students and the uneasy fit with previously learned classical control material are eliminated. One such laboratory teaching situation is described in detail. This concerns the multivariable control of a two-input two-output coupled-drives apparatus where the control objective is the simultaneous control of belt speed and tension using the input voltages to the two servo drive motors as control inputs. As with classical single-input single-output (SISO) control, student tasks involve plant modeling, analysis, specification, design and implementation in that order. The multivariable control approach adopted is known as individual channel analysis and design (ICAD). Of particular value to students and instructors alike is the fact that this approach to multivariable control is very classical-like in its motivations and feel while fully cognizant of multivariable structure. As a result, multivariable control that directly extends classical control principles is well within the reach of final year undergraduate students in an integrated teaching laboratory environment  相似文献

We report on the development of a comprehensive, stochastic simulation methodology that provides the capability to quantify the impacts of integrated renewable resources on the power system economics, emissions and reliability variable effects over longer periods with the various sources of uncertainty explicitly represented. We model the uncertainty in the demands, the available capacity of conventional generation resources and the time-varying, intermittent renewable resources, with their temporal and spatial correlations, as discrete-time random processes. We deploy Monte Carlo simulation techniques to systematically sample these random processes and emulate the side-by-side power system and transmission-constrained day-ahead market operations. We construct the market outcome sample paths for use in the approximation of the expected values of the various metrics of interest. Our efforts to address the implementational aspects of the methodology so as to ensure computational tractability for large-scale systems over longer periods include the use of representative simulation periods, parallelization and variance reduction techniques. Applications of the approach include planning and investment studies and the formulation and analysis of policy. We illustrate the capabilities and effectiveness of the simulation approach on representative study cases on a modified WECC 240-bus system. The results provide valuable insights into the impacts of deepening penetration of wind resources.  相似文献
