NaradaBrokering has been developed as the messaging infrastructure for collaboration, peer-to-peer, and Grid applications. The value of NaradaBrokering in the context of Grid and Web Services has been clear for some time. NaradaBrokering-combined with further extensions to, and testing of, its existing capabilities - can also take advantage of the maturing of Web Service standards and specifications to build very powerful general mechanisms to deploy and integrate it with general Web Services. This paper describes a framework to integrate the NaradaBrokering substrate with Web Services.  相似文献

Much of the Web's success can be attributed to its simplicity. It offers a straightforward means by which static information could be published and interconnected on a global basis. The Web Services initiative effectively adds computational objects to the static information of yesterday's Web and as such offers a distributed services capability over a network. Web Services have the potential to create new paradigms for both the delivery of software capabilities and the models by which networked enterprises will trade. Today's Web Services technology, useful though it is, will be enhanced over the next 2-5 years by the harnessing of Semantic Web technology to deliver a step change in capability. Web Services provide an easy way to make existing (or indeed new) components available to applications via the Internet. However, currently, Web Services are essentially described using semi-structured natural language mechanisms, which means that considerable human intervention is needed to find and combine Web Services into an end application. The Semantic Web will enable the accessing of Web resources by semantic content rather than just by keywords. Resources (in this case Web Services) are defined in such a way that they can be automatically ‘understood’ and processed by machine. This will enable the realisation of Semantic Web Services, involving the automation of service discovery, acquisition, composition and monitoring. Software agents will be able automatically to create new services from already published services, with potentially huge implications for models of eBusiness. Having identified limitations in current Web Services technology, this paper will survey existing research in Semantic Web Services, most notably USA's DAML-S initiative and the European WSMF work, and describe BT's research into creating a set of tools to support next-generation Semantic Web Services. Web Services provide a technology for expressing the interactions between customer and business partners, as part of their business processes. Mobile Web Services apply Web Services technology to the mobile environment, enabling exciting new services to be offered to consumers on their mobile telephones, wireless-LAN-enabled PDAs and laptop computers. This paper provides an overview of mobile Web Services. It proposes an architecture for the deployment of mobile Web Services, highlighting the components required for Web Services to provide a personalised mobile service. Behind the hype of Web Services (WS) is the reality of a sound and functional set of technologies for integration. This paper describes how the pragmatic use of WS technology has resulted in better, cheaper and faster integration for BT in its core operational support systems (OSS) system interfaces. BT has embarked upon a programme of enabling key components and middleware layers in its customer handling stack to leverage the benefits of Web Services in addressing the challenge of real-time heterogeneous interworking. It is believed that the WS-enabling of these legacy systems has helped add years to their productive use and protected the huge investment already made in these systems. As well as giving ‘legs’ to such legacy systems, Web Services support the drive to implement a service-oriented architecture inside BT and this paper investigates the ways in which this is being achieved. In order to exploit Web Services on BT's mission-critical platforms we have had to understand and work with WS issues on a wide range of platforms, proving the interoperability, performance and security of the new technologies in large-scale enterprise integration projects. Integration has been the first ‘killer application’ for Web Services and this paper will describe some of the business areas that have benefited from the cleaner integration that Web Services offer. An electronic health record depends on the consistent handling of people's identities within and outside healthcare organizations. Currently, the Person Identification Service (PIDS), a CORBA specification, is the only well-researched standard that meets these needs. In this paper, we introduce WS/PIDS, a PIDS specification for Web Services (WS) that closely matches the original PIDS and improves on it by providing explicit support for medical multimedia attributes. WS/PIDS is currently supported by a test implementation, layered on top of a PIDS back-end, with Java- and NET-based, and Web clients. WS/PIDS is interoperable among platforms; it preserves PIDS semantics to a large extent, and it is intended to be fully compliant with established and emerging WS standards. The specification is open source and immediately usable in dynamic clinical systems participating in grid environments. WS/PIDS has been tested successfully with a comprehensive set of use cases, and it is being used in a clinical research setting.  相似文献

The Parlay X specification describes a number of Web Services that will provide a simple interface to telephony and other systems. Other telephony interface initiatives have addressed the needs of complex and niche applications. The Parlay X initiative has set out to address the needs of the wider population of application developers. These application developers should be able to create telephony applications with little or no knowledge of the underlying network. Version 1 of the specification is complete and should be released to the public in the near future. This version covers third-party call control, SMS, multimedia messaging, payment, account management, user status and user location. This paper discusses the motivation for these new initiatives and presents an overview of the specifications and also gives an insight into the implementations available. The tremendous potential of Web Services to revolutionise distributed computing has been the subject of intense excitement across the spectrum of IT professionals. The communications industry has also realised the potential for using Web Services for constructing communication solutions. However, as yet there are relatively few real implementations of the technology, especially when applied to the real-time communications space. This paper describes a case study of a BT product that uses web services to offer real-time communications capability. The experiences gained during the development and deployment of this service are described. Based on these experiences, a future service with a richer set of capabilities is then proposed. Security and Web Services are consistently reported among the top technologies of interest to businesses. Concerns about security are a major deterrent to companies considering use of the technology. This paper attempts to give an overview of the current state of Web Services security. The main body of the paper is a tour through key concepts used in Web Services security. Examples based on software demonstrators built by the authors are used to explain how the ideas are used in combination to achieve particular aims. In recent years, motivated by the emergence of ubiquitous computing technologies, a new class of networked robots, ubiquitous robots, has been introduced. The Ubiquitous Robotic Companion (URC) is our conceptual vision of ubiquitous service robots that provide users with the services they need, anytime and anywhere in ubiquitous computing environments. To realize the vision of URC, one of the essential requirements for robotic systems is to support ubiquity of services: that is, a robot service must be always available even though there are changes in the service environments. Specifically robotic systems need to be automatically interoperable with sensors and devices in current service environments, rather than statically preprogrammed for them. In this paper, the design and implementation of a semantic‐based ubiquitous robotic space (SemanticURS) is presented. SemanticURS enables automated integration of networked robots into ubiquitous computing environments exploiting Semantic Web Services and AI‐based planning technologies.  相似文献
