The presence of multiple access interference and hardware complexity of the mobile terminal are two major burdens for multi-carrier code division multiple access schemes. Both burdens can be overcome in downlink by precoding the transmitted signal using the knowledge of the channel state information. In multiuser precoding techniques, the transmitter is optimised to combat channel impairments through the use of new spreading sequences that are obtained by solving an optimisation problem based on some criterion. Among these optimisation problems, the problem based on maximum likelihood is hard and complex to solve. In the proposed precoding scheme, the well-suited expectation maximisation algorithm is used to solve this problem. The proposed precoding technique is simulated and its performance is analysed and compared with some other precoding and detecting techniques. The results show that the proposed scheme considerably outperforms the previous precoding schemes.  相似文献

The channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter can significantly improve the performance of multiple-antenna systems. However, providing full knowledge of CSI at the transmitter may not be affordable in many practical cases. Thus, exploiting the partial channel knowledge to improve system performance seems to be attractive. An interpolation based limited feedback precoding scheme (ILFP) for MIMO-OFDM systems is proposed. In this scheme, both the transmitter and the receiver store the codebook of precoding matrices constructed offline using two-variable joint vector quantisation. Considering the correlation between OFDM subcarriers, they are divided into subcarrier clusters. At the receiver, precoding is carried out on the clusters, and then the precoding information is conveyed to the transmitter by limited bits of feedback. At the transmitter, the precoding matrices for each subcarrier are obtained by interpolation according to the feedback. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes.  相似文献

The problem of throughput maximisation in a wireless multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system using a quantised feedback, which is an appropriate model for practical systems with limited feedback capacity, is considered. Unlike the ergodic capacity that can be achieved through power control only, maximising the throughput in the block fading channels is based on appropriate rate control strategy. The optimal quantised rate control design for general MIMO systems is formulated and a gradient descent search algorithm to find the optimal solution is employed. It is seen that the proposed quantised rate control scheme with only a few bits of feedback considerably improves the throughput of a MIMO system. With the same amount of feedback overhead, the proposed quantised rate control with constant power is compared with the optimal quantised power control strategy with an optimised constant rate, and the result demonstrates the importance of rate control in throughput maximisation. The effect of quantised rate control in MIMO systems employing different automatic repeat request schemes is also investigated  相似文献

Multiuser scheduling is an important aspect in the performance optimisation of a wireless network as it allows multiple users to efficiently access a shared channel by exploiting multiuser diversity. For example, the 3GPP cellular standard supports multiuser scheduling in the high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) feature. To perform efficient scheduling, channel state information (CSI) for users is required, and is obtained via their respective feedback channels. Multiuser scheduling is studied assuming the availability of perfect CSI, which would require a high bandwidth overhead. A more realistic imperfect CSI feedback in the form of a finite set of channel quality indicator values is assumed, as specified in the HSDPA standard. A global optimal approach and a simulated annealing (CSA) approach are used to solve the optimisation problem. Simulation results suggest that the performances of the two approaches are very close even though the complexity of the simulated annealing (SA) approach is much lower. The performance of a simple greedy approach is found to be significantly worse.  相似文献

研究了大规模多输入多输出(MIMO)系统的预编码。针对小区间干扰和导频污染会对预编码的有效性产生较大影响的问题,提出了一种改进的全导频正则化迫零(RZF)预编码方法。该方法通过将有限的正交导频信号分配给小区用户来对预编码矩阵中的信道向量进行优化,得到优化后的全导频正则化预编码矩阵,并依此推导出新的包含导频污染函数和用户干扰函数的和速率表达式。另外,综合考虑基站天线数、用户数以及导频重用因子,优化其配置关系,从而用较少的用户信息和更高的导频重用因子来抑制更多的小区间干扰,有效地提升系统性能。实验结果表明,这种改进的RZF预编码算法能够较好地提高系统容量,在完全已知信道状态信息(CSI)和未完全已知CSI两种情况下的频谱效率及和速率均优于传统的RZF方法。  相似文献

The authors have designed an adaptive optical codes-based system for communications over the indoor wireless optical channel when large numbers of users access to the channel simultaneously. This system uses a code-division multiple access (CDMA) scheme based on the named random optical codes (ROC). The authors present the characteristics of this kind of optical codes and several results about its performance over noisy indoor wireless optical channels. Finally, the authors describe a CDMA system which adapts its performance to the number of users which are accessing simultaneously to the channel. The proposed system is able to maintain a target bit error rate adapting its data throughput independently of the number of simultaneous users in the optical environment, whenever certain conditions are accomplished.  相似文献

If a channel fades fast and the feedback rate of a wireless communication system is low, exploiting long-term channel statistics at the transmitter is more often practical than exploiting instantaneous channel state information. Statistical adaptive modulation scheme based on tap correlation information at the transmitter assuming an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system with fast mobiles has been proposed. The proposed scheme improves the system performance compared with uniform bit loading scheme. It has been shown that at low SNR, statistical adaptive modulation applied to a channel with high tap correlation results in better performance than that applied to a channel without tap correlation  相似文献

The problem of joint source-channel and multiuser decoding for code division multiple access channels is considered. The block source-channel encoder is defined by a vector quantiser (VQ). The jointly optimum solution to such a problem has been considered before, but its extremely high complexity makes it impractical for systems with medium to large number of users and/or medium to large size of VQ codebook. Instead, the optimum linear decoder with a much lower complexity that minimises the mean-squared error is introduced. The optimum linear decoder is soft in the sense that it utilises all the soft information available at the receiver. Analytical and simulation results show that at low channel signal-to-noise ratio region, the proposed decoder's performance is almost the same as that of the jointly optimum decoder and significantly better than that of the tandem approaches that use separate multiuser detection and table-lookup decoding.  相似文献

The authors address the problem of providing fair multimedia quality-of-service (QoS) in IEEE 802.11 distributed co-ordination function-based wireless local area networks in the infrastructure mode where mobile hosts experience heterogeneous channel conditions due to mobility and fading effects. It was observed that unequal link qualities can pose significant unfairness of channel sharing, which may thereby lead to the degradation of multimedia QoS performed in adverse conditions. A cross-layer adaptation scheme that provides fair QoS by online adjusting the multidimensional medium access control layer backoff parameters in accordance with the application-layer QoS requirements as well as the physical-layer channel conditions was proposed. The solution is based on an optimisation approach, which utilises neural networks to learn the cross-layer function. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed adaptation scheme can tackle heterogeneous channel conditions and random joining (or leaving) of hosts to achieve fair QoS in terms of throughput and packet delay.  相似文献

The authors investigate the idea of using cognitive radio to reuse locally unused spectrum to increase the total system capacity. The authors consider a multiband/wideband system in which the primary and cognitive users wish to communicate to different receivers, subject to mutual interference and assume that each user knows only his/her channel and the unused spectrum through adequate sensing. The basic idea under the proposed scheme is based on the notion of spectrum pooling. The idea is quite simple; a cognitive radio will listen to the channel and, if sensed idle, will transmit during the voids. It turns out that, although its simplicity, the proposed scheme showed very interesting features with respect to the spectral efficiency and the maximum number of possible pairwise cognitive communications. We impose the constraint that users successively transmit over available bands through selfish water filling. For the first time, our study has quantified the asymptotic (with respect to the band) achievable gain of using spectrum pooling in terms of spectral efficiency compared with classical radio systems. The authors then derive the total spectral efficiency as well as the maximum number of possible pairwise communications of such a spectrum-pooling system.  相似文献

Timing offsets (TO) introduce misaligned interferences and phase errors, which degrade the performance of channel estimation. The authors propose a new semi-blind channel estimator that can cancel the TO effects on channel estimation and work well in the uplink of multi-carrier code-division multiple access systems in the presence of TO. The proposed channel estimator exploits the spreading sequence information instead of pilots to accomplish semi-blind estimation. Since the estimated channel coefficients are affected by the users? transmitted data, the effect of the users? data needs to be reduced. For this purpose, the authors also propose two smoothing algorithms, division smoothing and optimisation smoothing. In addition, to extend the new estimator to the system where the number of active users is too large, channel estimation over multiple symbols is discussed. The simulation results show that the proposed semi-blind estimator works better than a conventional estimator in the presence of TO, and its performance is very close to the conventional estimator in the absence of TO. Besides, the proposed estimator is compared with a sub-space estimator in simulation, and the results indicate that the new proposed estimator can achieve the same mean square error performance over the duration of a single symbol as the sub-space estimator over the duration of several symbols.  相似文献

To compensate the performance degradation induced by polarisation mode dispersion (PMD) in high-speed optical transmission, a single-input multiple-output (SIMO) decision feedback equaliser (DFE) technique is proposed to combat all orders of PMD-induced distortion. The scheme is based on a new SIMO PMD channel model which utilises information embedded in both polarisation states. The performance analysis of the proposed PMD SIMO DFE scheme is provided along with explicit expressions for the filter coefficients. The analysis results show that the new scheme provides a significant improvement over using a first-order optical compensator and conventional DFE.  相似文献

Radio-over-fibre (ROF) has received increasing attention for its ability to enable broadband wireless access. This fibre-based wireless access scheme meets the demand for broadband service by integrating the high capacity of optical networks with the flexibility of radio networks (the optical and wireless channels are concatenated with one another). There are, however, impairments that come with this appealing technology. The nonlinear distortion of the optical link and the multipath dispersion of the wireless channel are two of the major factors. In order to limit the effects of these distortions, estimation, and subsequently equalisation, of the concatenated fibre- wireless channel needs to be done. An estimation algorithm for the fibre-wireless uplink in a multiuser code division multiple access (CDMA) environment is presented using pseudonoise training sequences. It has already been shown by Fernando et al. (2001) that identification of the fibre- wireless uplink is possible in a single user CDMA environment. However, the more difficult task of identification in a multiuser spread spectrum environment, which is more realistic, is shown. In the multiuser case, the cumulative effect of multiuser interference, multipath dispersion, nonlinear distortion and noise should all be handled together which makes it more challenging. Numerical evaluations of the developed algorithm show that a good estimation of both the linear and nonlinear systems is possible in the presence of 16 independent users and an signal- to-noise ratio (SNR) of 22 dB. The estimation accuracy increases with the length of the PN sequence.  相似文献

As a fundamental operation in ad hoc networks, broadcast could achieve efficient message propagations. Particularl y in the cognitive radio ad hoc network where unlicensed users have different sets of available channels, broadcasts are carried out on multiple channels. Accordingly, channel selection and collision avoidance are challenging issues to balance the efficiency against the reliability of broadcasting. In this paper, an anti-collision selective broadcast protocol, called acSB, is proposed. A channel selection algorithm based on limited neighbor information is considered to maximize success rates of transmissions once the sender and receiver have the same channel. Moreover, an anti-collision scheme is adopted to avoid simultaneous rebroadcasts. Consequently, the proposed broadcast acSB outperforms other approaches in terms of smaller transmission delay, higher message reach rate and fewer broadcast collisions evaluated by simulations under different scenarios.  相似文献

Most of existing work on resource allocation in TDMA and OFDMA systems assumes the availability of perfect channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter, which is rarely possible due to feedback delay and channel estimation error. In this paper, we study the effect of feedback delay and channel estimation error on margin adaptive resource allocation in a downlink OFDMA system. By using convex optimization framework, we find an optimal solution to the problem. First, we study the individual effect of feedback delay and channel estimation error on resource allocation by considering them exclusively. Then, we consider the simultaneous presence of feedback delay and channel estimation error and study their combined effect on resource allocation. We derive an explicit close form expression for the users’ transmit power and propose an algorithm for power and subcarriers allocation for each of these three scenarios. The algorithms have polynomial complexities and solve the problem with zero optimality gaps. Simulation results show that the system performance is very sensitive to feedback delay and is affected significantly by imperfect channel estimation. Our proposed algorithms highly improve the system performance in the availability of only imperfect CSI at the transmitter.  相似文献

针对大规模MIMO系统用配置单精度模数转换器(ADC)来降低系统能耗会导致系统损失部分性能的问题,提出了一种莱斯信道下大规模MIMO系统的采用混合ADC的随机向量量化(RVQ)改进方案。该方案在频分双工模式下,首先在基站端采用高分辨率ADC和低分辨率ADC混合的接收方案处理信号,使接收的导频信号和有用信号具有较高的转换精度;系统对导频信号进行信道估计后,再对信道状态信息(CSI)进行RVQ处理,以此减小系统的反馈开销;最后运用最小均方误差(MMSE)信号检测算法减轻由量化误差引起的的用户间干扰,从而达到降低能耗并减小系统性能损失的目的。实验结果表明,这种改进的RVQ方案能在降低系统能耗的基础上有效减小系统容量损失,并使其和速率接近传统的高分辨率ADC接收方案。  相似文献

为了进一步降低有限反馈系统的反馈量,提出了一种多输入多输出(MIMO)信道树形矢量量化编码反馈方法.对于具有时间相关性的信道,首先统计出在已知当前码字的条件下下一个码字出现的条件概率,然后根据条件概率进行条件熵编码,编码结果反馈到输入端进行波束成形.该方法利用树形码本提高最优码字的搜索效率,减少计算量;利用信道的时间相关性提高编码效率,降低反馈量.仿真结果表明,在具有时间相关性的信道中,采用所提方法能以较少的计算量和较低的反馈量获取与传统方案相近的系统性能.  相似文献

It is desirable to construct a transmission matrix with full code rate as well as full transmit diversity in the design of space time block coding (STBC). For an arbitrary complex constellation, only full rate and full diversity signal matrix with size 2 by 2 is possible, said as Alamouti Code. For a real signal matrix with a size above 8 by 8, it is also impossible to acquire full code rate and full transmit diversity simultaneously. An efficient selective receiver switching scheme is proposed for STBC with the full code rate and non-orthogonal design. In the proposed scheme with the aid of beamforming, the authors divide the received signals into two groups according to the encoded matrix. By this way, the authors can eliminate the interference from the neighbouring signals almost by half. The simulation results with the example of matrix demonstrate that the proposed scheme can provide the improved performance and more under imperfect channel estimation.  相似文献

In this study, the authors develop a novel cooperative transmission scheme ? distributed opportunistic incremental decode and forward (DOIDF) that employs the incremental relaying (IR) strategy in opportunistic relaying (OR) protocols. By exploiting limited feedback from the destination, the proposed scheme starts the OR plan only when outage event happens in direct transmission (DT). The outage probability of DOIDF is derived in detail, and the results show that DOIDF can achieve the same space diversity order as multiple input single output (MISO) and single input multiple output (SIMO) systems, which is the upper limit of cooperative diversity. By analysing and comparing the approximate expression of outage probability of various protocols in high-signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime, the concept of system overhead factor (SOF), which reveals the effects of channel allocation in cooperative protocols on system performance, is proposed. Subsequent analysis and simulation results show that DOIDF outperforms corresponding OR schemes in outage probability, spectral efficiency and SNR gain over DT.  相似文献
