在软交换网络中,IP承载网的传输质量对网络的服务质量起着至关重要的作用.但由于IP网络很难保证提供特定的传输质量,所以对IP承载网的传输质量进行实时监测就很有必要.文中描述的监测系统能实时监测IP承栽网的时延,时延抖动和丢包率,可为软交换网络的维护和扩容等工作提供准确、及时的信息.文中描述了该监测系统的体系结构,给出了实现的三个关键技术.  相似文献

In a wireless multi-hop network environment, energy consumption of mobile nodes is an important factor for the performance evaluation of network life-time. In Voice over IP (VoIP) service, the redundant data size of a VoIP packet such as TCP/IP headers is much larger than the voice data size of a VoIP packet. Such an inefficient structure of VoIP packet causes heavy energy waste in mobile nodes. In order to alleviate the effect of VoIP packet transmission on energy consumption, a packet aggregation algorithm that transmits one large VoIP packet by combining multiple small VoIP packets has been studied. However, when excessively many VoIP packets are combined, it may cause deterioration of the QoS of VoIP service, especially for end-to-end delay. In this paper, we analyze the effect of the packet aggregation algorithm on both VoIP service quality and the energy consumption of mobile nodes in a wireless multi-hop environment. We build the cost function that describes the degree of trade-off between the QoS of VoIP services and the energy consumption of a mobile node. By using this cost function, we get the optimum number of VoIP packets to be combined in the packet aggregation scheme under various wireless channel conditions. We expect this study to contribute to providing guidance on balancing the QoS of VoIP service and energy consumption of a mobile node when the packet aggregation algorithm is applied to VoIP service in a wireless multi-hop networks.  相似文献

双向数字电视业务的开发和发展,是广播电影电视的数字化和产业化的重要推动力量,对国家信息化、社会信息化和家庭信息化的进程发挥着重要的作用。IP网络以其技术成熟、设备稳定作为数字电视相关业务有效承载网络,如何在满足IP网络中QoS(Quality of Service)要求下进行路由选择,已成为路由算法研究的重要方向。提出一种多约束条件下的自适应蚁群算法,该算法基于目标函数的信息素分配策略来自适应地调整蚂蚁的搜索行为,使多约束QoS路由优化问题得到了很好的解决,其运用在双向数字电视机顶盒网络组件中,提高了网络系统的吞吐量和避免了拥塞。  相似文献

The clear trend toward the integration of current and emerging applications and services in the Internet launches new demands on service deployment and management. Distributed service-oriented traffic control mechanisms, operating with minimum impact on network performance, assume a crucial role as regards controlling services quality and network resources transparently and efficiently. In this paper, we describe and specify a lightweight distributed admission control (AC) model based on per-class monitoring feedback for ensuring the quality of distinct service levels in multiclass and multidomain environments. The model design, covering explicit and implicit AC, exhibits relevant properties that allow managing quality of service (QoS) and service-level specifications (SLSs) in multiservice IP networks in a flexible and scalable manner. These properties, stemming from the way service-dependent AC and on-line service performance monitoring are proposed and articulated in the model’s architecture and operation, allow a self-adaptive service and resource management, while abstracting from network core complexity and heterogeneity. A proof of concept is provided to illustrate the AC criteria ability in satisfying multiple service class commitments efficiently. The obtained results show that the self-adaptive behavior inherent to on-line measurement-based service management, combined with the established AC rules, is effective in controlling each class QoS and SLS commitments consistently.  相似文献

Efficient utilization of network resources is a key goal for emerging broadband wireless access systems (BWAS). This is a complex goal to achieve due to the heterogeneous service nature and diverse quality of service (QoS) requirements of various applications that BWAS support. Packet scheduling is an important activity that affects BWAS QoS outcomes. This paper proposes a novel packet scheduling mechanism that improves QoS in mobile wireless networks which exploit IP as a transport technology for data transfer between BWAS base stations and mobile users at the radio transmission layer. In order to improve BWAS QoS the new packet algorithm makes changes at both the IP and the radio layers. The new packet scheduling algorithm exploits handoff priority scheduling principles and takes into account buffer occupancy and channel conditions. The packet scheduling mechanism also incorporates the concept of fairness. Performance results were obtained by computer simulation and compared to the well known algorithms. Results show that by exploiting the new packet scheduling algorithm, the transport system is able to provide a low handoff packet drop rate, low packet forwarding rate, low packet delay and ensure fairness amongst the users of different services.  相似文献

The MobileTV, IPTV, and DVB standards (DVB-H/T) have been defined to offer mobile users interactive multimedia services with quality of service (QoS) consistency analogous to TV services. However, the market has yet to provide effective and economical solutions for the real-time delivery of such services to the corresponding transmitters over multi-domain IP networks. The monitoring system proposed in this paper enables the QoS in the IP networks involved in the delivery of real-time multimedia content to the transmitters to be ascertained. The system utilizes the QoS parameters defined in MPEG-2 Transport Streams to detect problems occurring in the heterogeneous multi-domain IP networks. The ability to detect problems having an adverse effect on QoS allows appropriate control actions to be determined to recover the QoS across the composite IP network. The design and implementation of the proposed QoS-Monitoring system (QoS-MS) is presented, followed by analysis of experimental results that demonstrate the feasibility of the system.   相似文献

In the past few years, the Internet has grown beyond anyone's reasonable imagination into a universal communication platform. At the same time the cellular networks, with their ability to reach a person “anywhere, anytime,” have grown impressively as well. Thus the combination of mobile networks and the Internet into the so called “mobile Internet” promises to be an important technology area. The indications are clear: the cellular networks are rapidly adopting suitable network models for supporting packet data services. A key component of this packet data service model is quality of service (QoS), which is crucial for supporting disparate services envisioned in the future cellular networks. This article addresses the issues of scalable end-to-end QoS in metropolitan DWDM networks serving as transit networks for IP access networks. DWDM offering a few wavelengths has been deployed in the past in backbone networks to upgrade point-to-point transmission where sharing is based on coarse granularity. This type of DWDM backbone network, offering a few light-paths, provides no support for QoS services traversing the network. As DWDM networks with larger numbers of wavelengths penetrate the data-centric metro environment, specific IP service requirements such as priority restoration, scalability, dynamic provisioning of capacity and routes, and support for coarse-grain QoS capabilities will have to be addressed in the optical domain in order to achieve end-to-end QoS over a DWDM network. The recent interest in IP as the vehicle for transporting TDM and narrowband services stems from the possibility of using a common transport network for voice, video, and data, and the flexibility with which new services can be introduced. A key step in the evolution of networks towards a ‘broadband’ IP‐based environment is the ‘graceful’ interworking of the IP networks with the existing networks and services, particularly with the circuit switched telephone network. A ‘graceful’ interworking approach is one whose complexity is minimal and preserves the user's perceived quality of service (QoS). To interwork with a circuit switched network whose services are pre‐dominantly time‐sensitive, the IP network must essentially behave as a transparent ‘link’ in the end‐to‐end connection. Applications of video streaming and real‐time gaming, which generate large amounts of real‐time traffic in the network, are expected to gain considerable popularity in Long Term Evolution networks. Maintaining the QoS such as packet delay, packet loss ratio, median, and cell border throughput requirements in networks dominated by real time traffic, is critical. The existing dimensioning methodology does not consider QoS parameters of real‐time traffic in network dimensioning. Moreover, exhaustive and time‐consuming simulations are normally required to evaluate the performance and QoS of real‐time services. To overcome this problem, we propose an improved radio network dimensioning framework that considers the QoS of real‐time traffic in network dimensioning. In this framework, an analytical model is proposed to evaluate the capacity and performance of real‐time traffic dominant Long Term Evolution networks. The proposed framework provides a fast and accurate means of finding the trade‐off between system load, packet delay, packet loss ratio, required median, and cell border throughput. It also provides network operators with an analytical means for obtaining the minimum number of sites required by jointly considering coverage, capacity and QoS requirements. Providing good quality of service (QoS) in cellular IP networks is an important requirement for performance improvement of the cellular IP network. Resource reservation is one of the methods used in achieving this goal and is proven to be effective. The main resources to be reserved in a cellular IP network are bandwidth, buffer and central processing unit (CPU) cycles. Router CPU cycle is the time taken by the router to process the packet of the flow before forwarding it to the next router (hop). This paper proposes a model for CPU cycle optimization of routers for real‐time flows in a cellular IP network. The model applies both genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) as soft computing tools to optimize the CPU cycles and reduces the flow processing time at each router in the route taken by a flow. To complement classical enterprise wide area network infrastructures, IP (based) virtual private networks have been gaining ground, with the capability of offering cost-effective, secure, and private-network-like services. In order to provision the equivalent quality of service of legacy connection-oriented layer 2 virtual private networks (VPNs), IP VPNs have to overcome the intrinsically best effort characteristics of the Internet in this multimedia era. This article discusses the IP VPN quality of service (QoS) issue from a service provider point of view, where QoS guarantees are carried out at the network level as well as at the node level. Streaming video over IP networks has become increasingly popular; however, compared to traditional data traffic, video streaming places different demands on quality of service (QoS) in a network, particularly in terms of delay, delay variation, and data loss. In response to the QoS demands of video applications, network techniques have been proposed to provide QoS within a network. Unfortunately, while efficient from a network perspective, most existing solutions have not provided end‐to‐end QoS that is satisfactory to users. In this paper, packet scheduling and end‐to‐end QoS distribution schemes are proposed to address this issue. The design and implementation of the two schemes are based on the active networking paradigm. In active networks, routers can perform user‐driven computation when forwarding packets, rather than just simple storing and forwarding packets, as in traditional networks. Both schemes thus take advantage of the capability of active networks enabling routers to adapt to the content of transmitted data and the QoS requirements of video users. In other words, packet scheduling at routers considers the correlation between video characteristics, available local resources and the resulting visual quality. The proposed QoS distribution scheme performs inter‐node adaptation, dynamically adjusting local loss constraints in response to network conditions in order to satisfy the end‐to‐end loss requirements. An active network‐based simulation shows that using QoS distribution and packet scheduling together increases the probability of meeting end‐to‐end QoS requirements of networked video. IPTV与目前的3个运营网(有线电视网、Internet和电信网)及其业务直接相关。但不同运营商对IPTV业务有不同定位。电信运营商认为IPTV业务体现于电视节目在IP网中的组织和传送形式,有线电视网络运营商认为IPTV业务是利用有线电视网来提供数字电视节目和电视节目以外的信息服务。由于IPTV业务分为广播业务和交互型业务两大类,支撑这两类业务的承载网也相应地分别采用单向广播网和双向交互网,因而在承载网层很难融合。融合工作将在业务层发生,即充分利用已经存在的两个承载网来经济、高效地发展业务。IPTV中既拥有广播型业务,又拥有组播型业务,还拥有交互型业务,将是三网融合的开端。  相似文献

The differentiated services (DiffServ) framework is widely proposed as an efficient method for providing advanced IP services to large‐scale networks, with QoS requirements. However, the provisioning of such services in production networks has proved to be more difficult than initially expected, in defining, setting and verifying appropriate Service Level Agreements (SLAs). GEANT, the Gigabit core pan‐European research network, on a pilot basis introduced ‘Premium IP’ service, offering bounded delay and negligible packet loss to the European National Research & Education Networks (NRENs) that it interconnects. However, large scale provisioning of this new service requires the definition of efficient interaction procedures between administrative domains involved and methods for SLA monitoring. This paper focuses on these issues and presents the experience acquired from the early experiments in GEANT, as an example of hierarchical Gigabit multi‐domain environment, enabled with QoS provisioning to its constituent NRENs. This model scales more efficiently than the common peering Internet Service provider (ISP) commercial paradigm. The increasing demands of new services and applications are pushing for drastic changes in the design of access networks for residential and SOHO users. Future access networks will provide full service integration, resource sharing at the packet level, and QoS support. It is expected that using IP as the base technology, the ideal plug-and-play scenario, where the management actions of the access network operator are kept to a minimum, will be achieved easily. In this article we start by giving a historical perspective of the evolution of access networks. We then describe an IP-based architecture targeted for integrated support of broadband multimedia services, designed to be low-cost and easily manageable. We illustrate the different phases of a multimedia Internet access session, when using SIP for session initiation, COPS and DIAMETER for QoS policy management, and AAA and RSVP for resource reservation.  相似文献
