The recent invention of magnetoresistive bipolar spin-transistors makes possible the creation of new spintronic logic families. Here we propose the first logic family exploiting these devices, extending emitter-coupled logic (ECL) to achieve a greater range of basis logic functions. By placing the wire from the output stage of ECL logic elements near spin-transistors in other logic stages throughout the circuit, additional basis logic elements can be realized. These new logic elements support greater logic minimization, resulting in enhanced speed, area, and power characteristics. A novel magnetic shielding structure provides this logic family with the crucial ability to cascade logic stages. This logic family potentially achieves a power-delay product 10–25 times smaller than conventional ECL, and can therefore be exploited to increase the performance of very high-speed logic circuits while broadening the range of design choices for a variety of electronic applications.  相似文献

The Cones synthesis system for automatic generation of VLSI implementations is discussed. Named for the cones in sequential logic, Cones takes behavioral models written in C and produces gate-level implementations in technologies such as standard cells and programmable logic arrays or programmable logic devices. Unlike conventional mask-programmed gate arrays, the logic, I/O functions, 7 and interconnections of Xilinx-programmable gate arrays, logic cell arrays (LCAs), are fully user programmable. The functions implemented in an LCA are determined by a configuration program that is loaded during system initialization, much like a programmable microprocessor peripheral. Powerful development tools allow the designer to progress easily from design conception to the generation of the LCA configuration programs. This paper addresses the co‐design of biologically‐plausible vision‐based algorithms applied to control the reactive behaviors of mobile robots and, especially, the control of collision avoidance in unknown and dynamic worlds. Microcontroller timer units and programmable logic devices both can create complex system timing functions. Using the Motorola time processor unit available on the MC68332 and MC68HC1GY1 microcontrollers and PLDs from Altera, we compared the performance and flexibility of these devices in applications that require various timing functions. 视频图像处理要求高速运算能力,在处理技术不断提高和算法复杂度不断提升的情况下,并行处理的可编程逻辑器件的高速运算能力和可重复执行多任务的特性在视频图像处理领域得到了极大的发挥。与传统的串行处理DSP芯片为核心器件的视频图像处理方案相比,单片FPGA芯片和嵌入其内部的NiosII软核处理器不仅能够达到运算速度的要求,而且成本更低、设计更简单。系统由I2C模块、视频译码模块、存储模块和检测模块组成,模块之间由Avalon总线链接。系统基于QuartusII、MATLAB和ModelSim软件工具设计与仿真,实验结果表明能够达到预期的要求。  相似文献

A problem of minimization of Mealy finite-state machines that is common in synthesizing digital devices on programmable logic devices is considered. The proposed approach uses an operation of gluing two states and represents the finite-state machine as a list of transitions. Cases when gluing two states generates wait states are described. Algorithms that minimize the number of internal states, the number of transitions and input variables of Mealy finite-state machines are given. The experimental results showed that when used to implement finite-state machines on programmable logic devices, the proposed method helps decrease the implementation cost 1.31 times on average and 3 times at best. Topical directions for further study of finite-state machines minimization methods are given.  相似文献

在电子领域中,测频是经常要用到的。但是传统频率计在测频时有很多缺点。本设计采用等精度测频、测周期的数字频率计的设计方案,选用单片机为核心,通过编程实现了闸门预制信号、同步控制、数据运算处理和实时显示的功能,并利用可编程逻辑器件CPLD(Complex Programmable Logic Device)的在线编程,实现了频率计的逻辑控制、计数等功能。本设计克服了传统频率计随着被测频率的改变而改变的缺点,在整个频率区域都能保持恒定的测试精度。  相似文献
