In this paper, we describe the graphical abstractions for Grids and services that have been implemented within the Triana
problem solving environment. We provide an overview of the ways in which Triana interacts with services (e.g., Web and P2P
services) and then how we interact with core Grid components, such as resource managers and data management systems through
the extensive use of the GridLab GAT interface. We describe in detail the GAT philosophy and implementation and then show
how the various GAT primitives can be represented in an intuitive fashion within a Triana workflow. This approach, which we
refer to as the Visual GAT, differs substantially from other approaches because we do not tie our implementation to any specific
underlying Grid middleware technologies; rather, we base our implementation on application level requirements and model such
primitives from a user’s perspective by hiding as much complexity as possible without undermining the core capabilities required.
We provide a use case to demonstrate the Visual GAT implementation and show how legacy applications can seamlessly be distributed
and integrated in a dynamic fashion within complex data-driven workflow scenarios. 相似文献

Fahringer, ZENTURIO: A Grid Middleware-based Tool for Experiment Management of Parallel and Distributed Applications, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, 2003. http://authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S0743731503001977 (to appear)] is a semi-automatic experiment management tool for performance and parameter studies of parallel and distributed applications on cluster and Grid architectures. ZENTURIO has been designed as an Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA) – compliant Grid application built on top of standard Web and Grid services technologies. In this paper we first comparatively present various issues from our transition to an Open Grid Services Infrastructure (OGSI) – compliant prototype. Then we introduce a generic framework for solving NP-complete optimisation problems for parallel and Grid applications. We present a case study on high throughput scheduling for large sets of computational tasks on the Grid using genetic algorithms. Our algorithm has a complexity of
and delivers a fivefold improvement in solution over 500 generations in a Grid with uniformly distributed computational resources.

This paper analyzes some technical and practical issues concerning the use of parallel systems to solve multi-objective optimization
problems using enumerative search. This technique constitutes a conceptually simple search strategy, and it is based on evaluating
each possible solution from a given finite search space. The results obtained by enumeration are impractical for most computer
platforms and researchers, but they exhibit a great interest because they can be used to be compared against the values obtained
by stochastic techniques. We analyze here the use of a grid computing system to cope with the limits of enumerative search.
After evaluating the performance of the sequential algorithm, we present, first, a parallel algorithm targeted to multiprocessor
systems. Then, we design a distributed version prepared to be executed on a federation of geographically distributed computers
known as a computational grid. Our conclusion is that this kind of systems can provide to the community with a large and precise set of Pareto fronts that

在网格中数据密集型应用的管理由于需要综合考虑多种资源属性而变得非常复杂,本文针对该问题提出了一种有服务质量保证的数据密集型网格应用管理方法,该方法通过两个方面来保证服务质量,首先是通过基于数据可靠性的副本管理策略提高数据的可用性,其次采用基于任务截至期限的任务调度策略来动态调度任务.最后,给出模拟试验测试以及实际网格平台与实际应用的测试,测试结果表明本文提出的方法较其它方法有很大提高. 相似文献

Service-oriented architectures and applications have gained wide acceptance in the Grid computing community. A number of tools
and middleware systems have been developed to support application development using Grid Services architectures. Most of these
efforts, however, have focused on low-level support for management and execution of Grid services, management of Grid-enabled
resources, and deployment and execution of applications that make use of Grid services. Simple-to-use service development
tools, which would allow a Grid service developer to leverage Grid technologies without needing to know low-level details,
are becoming increasingly important for wider application of the Grid. In this paper, we describe an open-source, extensible
toolkit, called Introduce, that supports easy development and deployment of Web Services Resource Framework (WSRF) compliant
services. Introduce is designed to reduce the service development and deployment effort by hiding low level details of the
Globus Toolkit and to enable the implementation of strongly typed services. In strongly typed services, a service produces
and consumes data types that are well-defined and published in the Grid. This enables data-level syntactic interoperability
so that clients and services can access and consume data elements programmatically and correctly. We expect that enabling
strongly typed Grid services while lowering the difficulty of entry to the Grid via toolkits like Introduce will have a major
impact to the success of the Grid and its wider adoption as a viable technology of choice in the commercial sector as well
