The process knowledge assets make a substantial contribution to the risk management (RM) for contractors in the construction phase. To effectively reuse these assets, knowledge extraction becomes a significant research area. This paper was designed to explore an approach to conduct knowledge extraction by establishing project risk ontology. Specifically, the study proposed the ontology-based risk management (ORM) framework to enhance the RM performance by improving the RM workflow and knowledge reuse. The ORM framework facilitated the identification, analysis, and response of project risks. This study validated the ORM framework through a case demonstration. Through the implementation and application, the results demonstrated that the ORM framework was able to apply to the RM workflow for contractors, and more importantly, it greatly increased the effectiveness of project RM.  相似文献

Different project goals provide different prerequisites for project work and team processes. Two important aspects of project goals are technological certainty/uncertainty and adequacy of goal definition. Product development projects and construction projects are different in these respects. The study explores differences between the two types of projects with regard to psychosocial aspects of the work situation. Data were collected by means of a questionnaire study (n=98). The items in the questionnaire were designed to investigate social processes, individual work environment, and input/output factors. Results indicate that there were more developed team processes in the product development projects, and that co-workers on such projects experienced development of professional skills to a greater extent. In general, social processes requiring conceptual co-operation and communication were less pronounced in the construction projects investigated. The paper discusses how the differences found between the two kinds of projects can be related to work settings. Possible implications for future research are considered.  相似文献

Past studies have indicated that project managers may be less likely to continue failing IT projects if they are able to perceive project risks accurately. Using the scenario of a failing IT project, a computer simulation-based experiment investigated the influence of individual self-efficacy and project risk factors on the perception of risk. Participants played the role of a project manager and managed a simulated IT project. The results suggest that project managers are likely to underestimate the risks of a project with endogenous risk factors as compared to a project with exogenous risk factors. Results of this study point to a ‘self-efficacy bias’ where project managers with higher self-efficacy may underestimate the risks of a troubled IT project as compared to project managers with lower self-efficacy. Further, risk perception mediated the influence of self-efficacy on the commitment to a failing IT project.  相似文献

Southern Cross Station is one of the largest public–private partnership (PPP) projects undertaken in Australia. In this project the architects played a significant role in developing an iconic design which has received international professional design awards and much media attention. In the media the architects' design was perceived as having impacted negatively on capital costs. Given these contradictory perceptions, the aim of this study was to better understand perceptions of the architects' role in relation to project risks arising out of their design. A survey of key project executives working in the PPP consortium responsible for delivering the project was undertaken. The survey was structured by a framework combining the PPP life cycle, project risks and the idea that architectural design can be viewed as a research and development activity rather than simply as a problem‐solving activity. The survey responses point to the fact that the architects mitigated technical and operating risks and their activities had little bearing on the project's substantial write‐downs. This counters media perceptions of the project that the design activities of the architects created more risks than they mitigated.  相似文献

This paper responds to the invitation to debate the theory of production in construction from the advocates of lean construction. In particular, it is a response to Koskela and Ballard's critiques of the theory of project management represented in the Project Management Institute's (PMI) PMBoK, and the ‘economics-based’ approach to construction project management presented by Winch. The paper reviews the theoretical and practical contributions of lean construction before addressing the specific criticisms made. It then suggests that lean construction theory has its own limitations and requires further development in the areas of the definition of process, the concept of organization, the theorization of risk and uncertainty, and its unitary concept of value.

Cet article est la réponse des défenseurs de la construction « au plus juste » lorsqu'ils ont été invités à la théorie de la production dans la construction. Il réagit, notamment, aux critiques de Koskela et Ballard sur la théorie de la gestion de projet représentée dans le PMBoK du Institut de Gestion de Projet et à l'approche basée sur l'économie de la gestion de projets de construction présentée par Winch. Cet article passe en revue les contributions théoriques et pratiques de la construction ‘au plus juste’ avant de traiter des critiques spécifiques faites à ce sujet. Il suggère ensuite que la théorie de la construction ‘au plus juste’ a ses propres limites et nécessite d'autres développements dans les domaines de la définition des procédés, du concept d'organisation, de la théorie des risques et des incertitudes et de son concept unitaire de la valeur.
