In this study, we synthesized the new kinds of semiconducting polymeric gels having negative (n-type) and positive (p-type) counter ions as charge carriers. The polyacrylamide gel was doped with pyranine (8-hydroxypyrene-1,3,6-trisulfonic
acid, trisodium salt), having
\textSO3 - {\text{SO}}_{3}^{ - } ions as side groups and Na+ as counter ions, so-called p-type semiconducting gel. The doping process was performed during the polymerization where the pyranine binds to the polymer
strands over OH group chemically via radical addition. In a similar way, N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPA) gel was doped with methacrylamidopropyltrimethyl
ammonium chloride (MAPTAC), having Cl− as counter ions, so-called n-type semiconducting gel. Here MAPTAC was embedded by copolymerization within the polymer network (NIPA). These semiconducting
gels can show different electrical properties by changing the concentration of the doping agents, swelling ratio etc. We have
shown that the pn junction, formed by combining p-type and n-type gels together in close contact, rectifies the current similar to the conventional Si and Ge diodes. 相似文献

The physicochemical properties of crude Nigella seed (Nigella sativa L.) oil which was extracted using Soxhlet, Modified Bligh–Dyer and Hexane extraction methods were determined. The effect of
different extraction methods which includes different parameters, such as temperature, time and solvent on the extraction
yield and the physicochemical properties were investigated. The experimental results showed that temperature, different solvents
and extraction time had the most significant effect on the yield of the Nigella oil extracts. The fatty acid (FA) compositions
of Nigella seed oil were further analyzed by gas chromatography to compare the extraction methods. The C16:0, C18:1 and C18:2
have been identified to be the dominant fatty acids in the Nigella seed oils. However, the main triacylglycerol (TAG) was
LLL followed by OLL and PLL. The FA and TAG content showed that the composition of the Nigella seed oil extracted by different
methods was mostly similar, whereas relative concentration of the identified compounds were apparently different according
to the extraction methods. The melting and crystallization temperatures of the oil extracted by Soxhlet were −2.54 and −55.76 °C,
respectively. The general characteristics of the Nigella seed oil obtained by different extraction methods were further compared.
Where the Soxhlet extraction method was considered to be the optimum process for extracting Nigella seed oil with a higher
quality with respect to the other two processes. 相似文献

Nitroso compounds were electrogenerated from (1S, 2S)-2-amino-1-(4-nitrophenyl)-propane-1,3-diol derivatives (derivatives of p-nitrophenylserinol) in a “redox” flow cell equipped with two consecutive porous electrodes of opposite polarities. In spite. of the relative instability in methanol-acetate buffer of the hydroxylamine intermediates produced at the first porous electrode (cathode), the nitroso derivatives were prepared in good yields at the second one (anode). A coupling reaction between some nitroso derivatives and p-toluenesulphinic acid led to N-sulphonylphenylhydroxylamines. 相似文献

Locoweeds (Astragalus and Oxytropis spp. that contain the toxic alkaloid swainsonine) cause widespread poisoning of livestock on western rangelands. There are
354 species of Astragalus and 22 species of Oxytropis in the US and Canada. Recently, a fungal endophyte, Embellisia spp., was isolated from Astragalus and Oxytropis spp. and shown to produce swainsonine. We conducted a survey of the major locoweeds from areas where locoweed poisoning has
occurred to verify the presence of the endophyte and to relate endophyte infection with swainsonine concentrations. Species
found to contain the fungal endophyte and produce substantial amounts of swainsonine were A. wootoni, A. pubentissimus, A. mollissimus, A. lentiginosus, and O. sericea. Astragalus species generally had higher concentrations of swainsonine than Oxytropis. Swainsonine was not detected in A. alpinus, A. cibarius, A. coltonii, A. filipes, or O. campestris. The endophyte could not be cultured from A. mollissimus var. thompsonii or A. amphioxys, but was detected by polymerase chain reaction, and only 30% of these samples contained trace levels of swainsonine. Further
research is necessary to determine if the endophyte is able to colonize these and other species of Astragalus and Oxytropis and determine environmental influences on its growth and synthesis of swainsonine. 相似文献

Ethanolic extract of aerial parts of Artemisia annua L. and artemisinin were evaluated as anti-insect products. In a feeding deterrence assay on Epilachna paenulata Germ (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) larvae, complete feeding rejection was observed at an extract concentration of 1.5 mg/cm2 on pumpkin leaf tissue. The same concentration produced a feeding inhibition of 87% in Spodoptera eridania (Cramer) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). In a no-choice assay, both species ate less and gained less weight when fed on leaves treated with the extract. Complete mortality in E. paenulata and 50% mortality in S. eridania were observed with extract at 1.5 mg/cm2. Artemisinin exhibited a moderate antifeedant effect on E. paenulata and S. eridania at 0.03–0.375 mg/cm2. However, a strong effect on survival and body weight was observed when E. paenulata larvae were forced to feed on leaves treated at 0.03 and 0.075 mg/cm2. Artemisia annua ethanolic extract of aerial parts at 1.5 mg/cm2 showed no phytotoxic effect on pumpkin seedlings. 相似文献

The sandalwood kernels of Santalum insulare (Santalaceae) collected in French Polynesia give seed oils containing significant amounts of ximenynic acid, E-11-octadecen-9-oic acid (64–86%). Fatty acid (FA) identifications were performed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry
(GC/MS) of FA methyl esters. Among the other main eight identified fatty acids, oleic acid was found at a 7–28% level. The
content in stearolic acid, octadec-9-ynoic acid, was low (0.7–3.0%). An inverse relationship was demonstrated between ximenynic
acid and oleic acid using 20 seed oils. Results obtained have been compared to other previously published data on species
belonging to the Santalum genus, using multivariate statistical analysis. The relative FA S. insulare composition, rich in ximenynic acid is in the same order of those given for S. album or S. obtusifolium. The other compared species (S. acuminatum, S. lanceolatum, S. spicatum and S. murrayanum) are richer in oleic acid (40–59%) with some little differences in linolenic content. 相似文献

The fatty acid composition of the seed oil of 19 wild legume species from southern Spain was analyzed by gas chromatography.
The main seed oil fatty acids ranged from C14:0 to C20:0. Among unsaturated fatty acids, the most abundant were linoleic, oleic and linolenic acids, except for Lathyrus angulatus, L. aphaca, L. clymenum, L. sphaericus and L. nigricans where C18:3 contents were higher than C18:1 contents. Palmitic acid was the most abundant saturated acid in studied species, ranging from 11.6% in Lathyrus sativus to 19.3% in Lens nigricans. All studied species showed higher amounts of total unsaturated fatty acids than saturated ones. Among studied species, the
ω6/ω3 ratio was variable, ranging from 2.0% in L. nigricans to 13.8% in L. sativus, there being eight species in which the ω6/ω3 ratio was below 5. The fatty acids observed in these plants supports the use
of these plants as a source of important dietary lipids. 相似文献

Ophrys flowers mimic sex pheromones of attractive females of their pollinators and attract males, which attempt to copulate with the flower and thereby pollinate it. Virgin females and orchid flowers are known to use the same chemical compounds in order to attract males. The composition of the sex pheromone and its floral analogue, however, vary between pollinator genera. Wasp-pollinated Ophrys species attract their pollinators by using polar hydroxy acids, whereas Andrena-pollinated species use a mixture of non-polar hydrocarbons. The phylogeny of Ophrys shows that its evolution was marked by episodes of rapid diversification coinciding with shifts to different pollinator groups: from wasps to Eucera and consequently to Andrena and other bees. To gain further insights, we studied pollinator attraction in O. leochroma in the context of intra- and inter-generic pollinator shifts, radiation, and diversification in the genus Ophrys. Our model species, O. leochroma, is pollinated by Eucera kullenbergi males and lies in the phylogeny between the wasp and Andrena-pollinated species; therefore, it is a remarkable point to understand pollinator shifts. We collected surface extracts of attractive E. kullenbergi females and labellum extracts of O. leochroma and analyzed them by using gas chromatography with electroantennographic detection (GC-EAD) and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS). We also performed field bioassays. Our results show that O. leochroma mimics the sex pheromone of its pollinator’s female by using aldehydes, alcohols, fatty acids, and non-polar compounds (hydrocarbons). Therefore, in terms of the chemistry of pollinator attraction, Eucera-pollinated Ophrys species might represent an intermediate stage between wasp- and Andrena-pollinated orchid species. 相似文献

Derivatives of 2,2-dimethyl-3-(2-methylprop-1-enyl)cyclopropanecarboxylic acid (chrysanthemic acid) are classic natural pyrethroids discovered in pyrethrum plants and show insecticidal activity. Chrysanthemic acid, with two asymmetric carbons, has four possible stereoisomers, and most natural pyrethroids have the (1R,3R)-trans configuration. Interestingly, chrysanthemic acid–related structures are also found in insect sex pheromones; carboxylic esters of (1R,3R)-trans-(2,2-dimethyl-3-(2-methylprop-1-enyl)cyclopropyl)methanol (chrysanthemyl alcohol) have been reported from two mealybug species. In the present study, another ester of chrysanthemyl alcohol was discovered from the striped mealybug, Ferrisia virgata (Cockerell), as its pheromone. By means of gas chromatography–mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry, and high-performance liquid chromatography analyses using a chiral stationary phase column and authentic standards, the pheromone was identified as (1S,3R)-(?)-cis-chrysanthemyl tiglate. The (1S,3R)-enantiomer strongly attracted adult males in a greenhouse trapping bioassay, whereas the other enantiomers showed only weak activity. The cis configuration of the chrysanthemic acid–related structure appears to be relatively scarce in nature, and this is the first example reported from arthropods. 相似文献

Western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis) has become a key insect pest of agricultural and horticultural crops worldwide. Little is known about host plant resistance to thrips. In this study, we investigated thrips resistance in F 2 hybrids of Senecio jacobaea and Senecio aquaticus. We identified thrips-resistant hybrids applying three different bioassays. Subsequently, we compared the metabolomic profiles of these hybrids applying nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). The new developments of NMR facilitate a wide range coverage of the metabolome. This makes NMR especially suitable if there is no a priori knowledge of the compounds related to herbivore resistance and allows a holistic approach analyzing different chemical compounds simultaneously. We show that the metabolomes of thrips-resistant and -susceptible hybrids differed considerably. Thrips-resistant hybrids contained higher amounts of the pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA), jacobine, and jaconine, especially in younger leaves. Also, a flavanoid, kaempferol glucoside, accumulated in the resistant plants. Both PAs and kaempferol are known for their inhibitory effect on herbivores. In resistant and susceptible F 2 hybrids, young leaves showed less thrips damage than old leaves. Consistent with the optimal plant defense theory, young leaves contained increased levels of primary metabolites such as sucrose, raffinose, and stachyose, but also accumulated jacaranone as a secondary plant defense compound. Our results prove NMR as a promising tool to identify different metabolites involved in herbivore resistance. It constitutes a significant advance in the study of plant–insect relationships, providing key information on the implementation of herbivore resistance breeding strategies in plants. Sequestration of plant compounds by herbivorous insects as a defense against predators is well documented; however, few studies
have examined the effectiveness of sequestration as a defense against parasitoids. One assumption of the “nasty host” hypothesis
is that sequestration of plant defense compounds is deleterious to parasitoid development. We tested this hypothesis with
larvae of the sequestering sphingid Ceratomia catalpae, which is heavily parasitized by the endoparasitoid Cotesia congregata, despite sequestering high concentrations of the iridoid glycoside catalpol from their catalpa host plants. We collected C. catalpae and catalpa leaves from six populations in the Eastern US, and allowed any C. congregata to emerge in the lab. Leaf iridoid glycosides and caterpillar iridoid glycosides were quantified, and we examined associations
between sequestered caterpillar iridoid glycosides and C. congregata performance. Caterpillar iridoid glycosides were not associated with C. congregata field parasitism or number of offspring produced. Although wasp survival was over 90% in all populations, there was a slight
negative relationship between caterpillar iridoid glycosides and wasp survival. Iridoid glycosides were present in caterpillars
at levels that are deterrent to a variety of vertebrate and invertebrate predators. Thus, our results support the alternative
hypothesis that unpalatable, chemically defended hosts are “safe havens” for endoparasitoids. Future trials examining the
importance of catalpol sequestration to potential natural enemies of C. congregata and C. catalpae are necessary to strengthen this conclusion. 相似文献

The thermo-sensitive poly(amino acid)s have aroused great concern due to their good biocompatibility, chirality and multi-functional groups. In this investigation, a group of poly(L-lysine ester -co- N-propionyl-L-aspartic acid)s (PLPA) with excellent thermo-sensitivity and non-cytotoxicity have been successfully synthesized by the polycondensation between α/ε-amino groups of L-lysine and α/γ-carboxyls from L-aspartic acid. The structure and properties of PLPA including monomers are characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, UV, DSC, GPC, SEM, Contact angle measurement, CCK-8 Cell Counting Kit assess and Confocal laser-scanning microscopy (CLSM). Among four designed PLPAs, only PLPAs possessing methyl/ethyl in the ester moiety show a reversible lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of 21.3–36.2 °C, very close to body temperature. The thermo-sensitivity of PLPAs is strongly affected by the polymer structure, its molecular weight and concentration. The contact angle measurement clearly reveals the effect of pendant groups and temperature on the hydrophlilicity/hydrophobicity of PLPAs. Furthermore, the viability of HeLa cells in 0.01–100 μg/mL PLPA solution is found to be in a range of 90–102% after 24, 48 and 72 h of incubation, indicating its no cytotoxicity. PLPA can facilely form a spherical nano-scale particle with core-shell structure via its thermo-sensitivity. CLSM observations manifest that the curcumin-loaded PLPA particles clearly internalize into the cellular inside. Overall, this noncytotoxic PLPA with excellent thermo-sensitivity is expected to be a promising material in the biomedical fields such as a hydrophobic drug carrier. 相似文献

The hydrocarbons (3Z,6Z,9Z)-3,6,9-octadecatriene (3Z,6Z,9Z-18:H) and (3Z,6Z,9Z)-3,6,9-nonadecatriene (3Z,6Z,9Z-19:H) constitute the pheromone of the winter moth, Erannis bajaria. These compounds belong to a large group of lepidopteran pheromones which consist of unsaturated hydrocarbons and their corresponding
oxygenated derivatives. The biosynthesis of such hydrocarbons with an odd number of carbons in the chain is well understood.
In contrast, knowledge about the biosynthesis of even numbered derivatives is lacking. We investigated the biosynthesis of
3Z,6Z,9Z-18:H by applying deuterium-labeled precursors to females of E. bajaria followed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis of extracts of the pheromone gland. A mixture of deuterium-labeled
[17,17,18,18-2H4]-3Z,6Z,9Z-18:H and the unlabeled 3Z,6Z,9Z-18:H was obtained after topical application and injection of (10Z,13Z,16Z)-[2,2,3,3-2H4]-10,13,16-nonadecatrienoic acid ([2,2,3,3-2H4]-10Z,13Z,16Z-19:acid) or (11Z,14Z,17Z)-[3,3,4,4-2H4]-11,14,17-icosatrienoic acid ([3,3,4,4-2H4]-11Z,14Z,17Z-20:acid). These results are consistent with a biosynthetic pathway that starts with α-linolenic acid (9Z,12Z,15Z-18:acid). Chain elongation leads to 11Z,14Z,17Z-20:acid, which is shortened by α-oxidation as the key step to yield 10Z,13Z,16Z-19:acid. This acid can be finally reduced to an aldehyde and decarbonylated or decarboxylated to furnish the pheromone component
3Z,6Z,9Z-18:H. A similar transformation of 11Z,14Z,17Z-20:acid yields the second pheromone component, 3Z,6Z,9Z-19:H. 相似文献

We investigated the influences of two structurally similar glucosinolates, phenethylglucosinolate (gluconasturtiin, NAS) and its (S)-2-hydroxyl derivative glucobarbarin (BAR), as well as their hydrolysis products on larvae of the generalist Mamestra brassicae (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Previous results suggested a higher defensive activity of BAR than NAS based on resistance toward M. brassicae larvae of natural plant genotypes of Barbarea vulgaris R. Br. (Brassicaceae) dominated by BAR. In the present study, the hypothesis of a higher defensive activity of BAR than NAS was tested by comparing two Barbarea species similarly dominated either by BAR or by NAS and by testing effects of isolated BAR and NAS on larval survival and feeding preferences. Larvae reared on leaf disks of B. verna (Mill.) Asch. had a lower survival than those reared on B. vulgaris P- and G-chemotypes. Leaves of B. verna were dominated by NAS, whereas B. vulgaris chemotypes were dominated by BAR or its epimer. In addition, B. verna leaves showed a threefold higher activity of the glucosinolate-activating myrosinase enzymes. The main product of NAS from breakdown by endogenous enzymes including myrosinases (“autolysis”) in B. verna leaves was phenethyl isothiocyanate, while the main products of BAR in autolyzed B. vulgaris leaves were a cyclized isothiocyanate product, namely an oxazolidine-2-thione, and a downstream metabolite, an oxazolidin-2-one. The glucosinolates BAR and NAS were isolated and offered to larvae on disks of cabbage. Both glucosinolates exerted similar negative effects on larval survival but effects of NAS tended to be more detrimental. Low concentrations of BAR, but not of NAS, stimulated larval feeding, whereas high BAR concentrations acted deterrent. NAS only tended to be deterrent at the highest concentration, but the difference was not significant. Recoveries of NAS and BAR on cabbage leaf disks were similar, and when hydrolyzed by mechanical leaf damage, the same isothiocyanate-type products as in Barbarea plants were formed with further conversion of BAR to cyclic products, (R)-5-phenyloxazolidine-2-thione [(R)-barbarin] and (R)-5-phenyloxazolidin-2-one [(R)-resedine]. We conclude that a previously proposed generally higher defensive activity of BAR than NAS to M. brassicae larvae could not be confirmed. Indeed, the higher resistance of NAS-containing B. verna plants may be due to a combined effect of rather high concentrations of NAS and a relatively high myrosinase activity or other plant traits not investigated yet. 相似文献

Few studies report the individual effect of 9c,11t- and 10t,12c-CLA on human energy metabolism. We compared the postprandial oxidative metabolism of 9c,11t- and 10t,12c-CLA and oleic acid (9c-18:1) in 22 healthy moderately overweight volunteers. After 24 weeks supplementation with 9c,11t-, 10t,12c-CLA or 9c-18:1 (3 g/day), subjects consumed a single oral bolus of the appropriate [1-13C]-labeled fatty acid. 8 h post-dose, cumulative oxidation was similar for 9c-18:1 and 10t,12c (P = 0.66), but significantly higher for 9c,11t (P < 0.01). 相似文献

The seeds of two Apiaceae species, Ligusticum hultenii and Lomatium californicum, were investigated. Preliminary bioassays indicated that methylene chloride extracts of seeds of both species contained selective phytotoxic activity against monocots and antifungal activity against Colletotrichum fragariae. Active constituents were isolated by bioassay-guided fractionation, and the structures were elucidated by NMR and GC-MS as apiol and Z-ligustilide, isolated from L. hultenii and L. californicum, respectively. Apiol and Z-ligustilide had I50 values of about 80 and 600 μM, respectively, for inhibition of the growth of Lemna paucicostata. The methylene chloride (CH2Cl2) extracts of the seeds and the isolated and purified compounds were tested against the 2-methylisoborneol-producing cyanobacterium (blue-green alga) Oscillatoria perornata, and the green alga Selenastrum capricornutum. The CH2Cl2 extracts of both Apiaceae species and apiol were weakly toxic to both species of phytoplankton, while Z-ligustilide was toxic to both with a lowest complete inhibitory concentration (LCIC) of 53 μM. Seeds of L. californicum and L. hultenii were found to be rich sources of Z-ligustilide (97 mg/g of dry seed) and apiol (40 mg/g of dry seed), respectively. 相似文献

This study chemically characterizes and evaluates the bactericidal and antioxidant activities of essential oils from Myristica fragrans and Salvia microphylla. The essential oils were obtained by steam distillation and were subsequently subjected to analysis by GC–MS and GC. The
agar diffusion test was employed to evaluate the bactericidal activity, while the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and
β-carotene/linoleic acid tests were used to determine the antioxidant activity. Terpin-4-ol (14.95%), sabinene (13.07%) and
γ-terpinene (11.22%) were found to be the major constituents in the essential oil of M. fragrans by gas chromatography, whereas (E)-caryophyllene (15.35%), α-eudesmol (14.06%), β-eudesmol (8.74%) and γ-eudesmol (7.64%) were encountered in the essential
oil of S. microphylla. Both essential oils showed bactericidal activity, with the essential oil of S. microphylla being more efficient. The antioxidant activity of the essential oils from M. fragrans and S. microphylla were demonstrated by the β-carotene/linoleic acid test, with IC50 976 and IC50 770 μg/mL, respectively. 相似文献

The autoxidation processes of the cis-9,trans-11 (c9,t11) and trans-10,cis-12 (t10,c12) isomers of CLA were separately observed at ca. 0% RH and different temperatures. The t10,c12 CLA oxidized faster than the c9,t11 isomer at all tested temperatures. The first half of the oxidation process of t10,c12 CLA obeyed an autocatalytic-type rate expression, but the latter half followed first-order kinetics. On the other hand,
the entire oxidation process of c9,t11 CLA could be expressed by the autocatalytic-type rate expression. The apparent activation energies and frequency factors
for the autoxidation of the isomers were estimated from the rate constants obtained at various temperatures based on the Arrhenius
equation. The apparent activation energies for the CLA isomers were greater than those for the nonconjugated n−6 and n−3 PUFA
or their esters. However, the enthalpyentropy compensation held during the autoxidation of both the CLA and PUFA. This suggested
that the autoxidation mechanisms for the CLA and PUFA were essentially the same. 相似文献

The allocation of resources to chemical defense can decrease plant growth and photosynthesis. Prunasin is a cyanogenic glycoside known for its role in defense against herbivores and other plants. In the present study, fluctuations of prunasin concentrations in roots of Prunus serotina seedlings were hypothesized to be: (1) dependent on light, air temperature, and humidity; (2) affected by competition between Prunus serotina and Quercus petraea seedlings, with mulching with Prunus serotina leaves; (3) connected with optimal allocation of resources. For the first time, we determined prunasin concentration in roots on several occasions during the vegetative season. The results indicate that seasonal changes have more pronounced effects on prunasin concentration than light regime and interspecific competition. Prunus serotina invested more nitrogen in the synthesis of prunasin under highly restricted light conditions than in higher light environments. In full sun, prunasin in roots of Prunus serotina growing in a monoculture was correlated with growth and photosynthesis, whereas these relationships were not found when interspecific competition with mulching was a factor. The study demonstrates that prunasin concentration in Prunus serotina roots is the result of species-specific adaptation, light and temperature conditions, ontogenetic shift, and, to a lesser extent, interspecific plant-plant interactions. 相似文献

Identification of molecular species of various N-acylated bacteriohopanehexol-mannosamides from the thermophilic bacterium Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris by semipreparative HPLC and by RP-HPLC with ESI is described. We used triple-quadrupole type mass spectrometer, 1H and 13C NMR for analyzing this complex lipid. CD spectra of two compounds (model compound—7-deoxy-d-glycero-d-allo-heptitol obtained by stereospecific synthesis, and an isolated derivative of hopane) were also measured and the absolute
configuration of both compounds was determined. On the basis of all the above methods, we identified the full structure of
a new class of bacteriohopanes, represented by various N-acylated bacteriohopanehexol-mannosamides. 相似文献
