Autonomous systems are an emerging AI technology functioning without human intervention underpinned by the latest advances in intelligence,cognition,computer,and systems sciences.This paper explores the intelligent and mathematical foundations of autonomous systems.It focuses on structural and behavioral properties that constitute the intelligent power of autonomous systems.It explains how system intelligence aggregates from reflexive,imperative,adaptive intelligence to autonomous and cognitive intelligence.A hierarchical intelligence model(HIM)is introduced to elaborate the evolution of human and system intelligence as an inductive process.The properties of system autonomy are formally analyzed towards a wide range of applications in computational intelligence and systems engineering.Emerging paradigms of autonomous systems including brain-inspired systems,cognitive robots,and autonomous knowledge learning systems are described.Advances in autonomous systems will pave a way towards highly intelligent machines for augmenting human capabilities.  相似文献

Systems engineers use the term sociotechnical system in academic literature and in their practice. Sociotechnical systems are gaining more attention as systems engineers aspire to address the social elements of their systems engineering practice as well as societal challenges, such as those included in the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Vision 2035. Even though there is a basic working definition of sociotechnical system in the Systems Engineering Book of Knowledge (SEBoK), use of the term varies in systems engineering literature depending on application domain. As systems engineering research and practice venture into social domains, it is critical that systems engineers have a shared understanding of terms they use as a foundation of knowledge and practice. To contribute to this foundation, this study is a systematic literature review of how the term sociotechnical system is used in systems engineering literature. We used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodological framework and Web of Science (WoS) for conducting the systematic literature review. We only included peer-reviewed systems engineering academic papers in this study, and these papers had to either explicitly define the term or implicitly define it by context in the paper. In total, 61 papers were included after inclusion criteria were met, and these were evaluated and synthesized into definition categories. Evaluation and synthesis were conducted according to the PRISMA framework by the study authors in order to manage bias. We found that most papers use sociotechnical system generically as a system that includes social (people) and technical elements. Papers with more refined definitions of sociotechnical system stem from two distinct theoretical traditions: ergonomics/safety and philosophy of engineering. We do not aim to propose a single, normative definition of sociotechnical system. This study is limited by including only systems engineering literature since sociotechnical system has established definitions in other disciplines (e.g., social sciences disciplines). However, the outcome of this study provides systems engineers with documented understanding of how the term sociotechnical system is used within systems engineering.  相似文献

Enterprise system engineering is a new practice that has emerged over the last few decades, promising to achieve better enterprises by improving cross-enterprise processes. However, enterprises have a unique property as a system of unsynchronized arrays of systems. This property can lead to severe problems and anomalies, such as cross-enterprise failures. These issues become even more drastic in supporting cross-enterprises processes like transportation. The transportation arena is a complex system in itself. It comprises a variety of enterprises and systems supported by different technologies and vendors. Moreover, it involves governmental, municipal, and private stakeholders. Therefore, planning and designing a coordinated and integrated architecture is difficult. A new enterprise system engineering framework called EPIC addresses these issues by enabling better coordination of unsynchronized arrays of systems across enterprises. This research explores the application of an architectural framework to the transportation arena, where existing methods have not adequately addressed its unique properties. Deploying it in the “real world” plants the seeds to improve the transportation processes, their performance, efficiency, and reliability.  相似文献

This paper presents an expert-system-based package for active filter synthesis, called EXSHOF-II. It starts with approximation function and ends with graphic display of the complete filter circuit. The package is an improved and enhanced version of its mother EXSHOF ( pert system based ynthesis of igh rder ilter). EXSHOF-II gives quantitative and qualitative help at various stages of filter design. Besides the Butterworth, Chebyshev and Elliptic functions which were considered in EXSHOF, the inverse Chebyshev function is also included in EXSHOF-II. For choosing particular approximation EXSHOF-II gives the order of the transfer function. The group delay characteristics of all four approximation functions are plotted on the screen by EXSHOF-II. This aids the user to make a proper choice of an approximation function. Like its mother, EXSHOF-II also considers four high-order structures. The filtering requirement in EXSHOF-II can be directly input on the attenuation characteristics, making the system more user-friendly. The circuit implementation has been done using nine different biquadratic active RC building blocks. The delay requirement can be easily satisfied by cascaded all-pass second-order networks.  相似文献

Facing the organizational and technological complexity of nuclear infrastructures (NI), the public reluctance in nuclear technology and the increasing restrictive regulatory environment, improving the conceptualization and evaluation of NI architecture is crucial for the successful completion of NI projects. Indeed, many technical engineering difficulties or delays in delivery can be avoided by deepening the design and evaluation of NI architectures. In a context where model-based systems engineering (MBSE) is becoming more and more relevant, it is interesting to integrate evaluation into this process. Although the architecture evaluation (AE) process is rather well defined in the literature and linked to system analysis practices, it is quite difficult to deploy and pilot within complex NI projects. This article proposes a model-based method, EVAluation for Critical Infrastructure Model Based System Engineering (EVA-CIME), to facilitate the deployment of AE processes on a project. The components of this method are described and illustrated in a study of a NI design. The benefits and limitations of EVA-CIME in its state of development are discussed and lead to the conclusion that the method should be extended to foster an AE culture within the company itself.  相似文献

Agent-based computing is a promising approach for developing applications in complex domains. However, despite the great deal of research in the area, a number of challenges still need to be faced (i) to make agent-based computing a widely accepted paradigm in software engineering practice, and (ii) to turn agent-oriented software abstractions into practical tools for facing the complexity of modern application areas. In this paper, after a short introduction to the key concepts of agent-based computing (as they pertain to software engineering), we characterise the emerging key issues in multiagent systems (MASs) engineering. In particular, we show that such issues can be analysed in terms of three different scales of observation, i.e., in analogy with the scales of observation of physical phenomena, in terms of micro, macro, and meso scales. Based on this characterisation, we discuss, for each scale of observation, what are the peculiar engineering issues arising, the key research challenges to be solved, and the most promising research directions to be explored in the future.  相似文献
