Security is an important topic, but is it important for Knowledge Management (KM)? To date, little mainstream KM research is coming through with a security focus. This paper asks why, and proposes that security be integrated into KM success models. The Jennex and Olfman (International Journal of Knowledge Management 2(3):51–68, 2006) KM success model is used to illustrate how security, specifically risk management, and the National Security Telecommunications and Information System Security Committee (NSTISSC) security model can be applied to KM management support and governance and KM Strategy. Finally, two case studies are provided that illustrate the application of risk management through governance to KM.  相似文献

Knowledge management (KM) takes an increasingly significant place in the companies. The field of the KM aims to answer the problems of memory within companies by proposing methodologies to formalise know-how during the different steps of production. The KM is a domain with many ramifications and applications. One of them, so called Knowledge Based Engineering, search how to record knowledge from experts to put them in CAD software. A large volume of works have addressed the importance of Knowledge management (KM). However, there are increasingly numerous concerns about whether the KM efforts can be fairly reflected and transformed into the business performance. Even though the KM contribution is qualitative and hard to measure, some works using statistical methods declare that a specific KM style may produce a better corporate performance. Statistical methods attempt to summarize yesterday’s success rules, while data mining techniques aim to explore tomorrow’s success clues. This study challenges the issue of what the hidden patterns between KM and its performance are, and whereby identifies the reality of whether a better performance is resulted from a special KM style. The analysis results using Bayesian network classifier and rough set theory show that it is not easy to support that a special KM style would produce a similar performance.  相似文献

The paper targets to devise a genuine Knowledge Management (KM) performance measurement model in a stochastic setting based on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), Monte Carlo simulation and Genetic Algorithm (GA). The proposed model evaluates KM using a set of proxy measures correlated with the major KM processes. Data Collection Budget Allocation (DCBA) that maximizes the model accuracy is determined using GA. Additional data are generated and analyzed using a Monte-Carlo-enhanced DEA model to obtain the overall KM efficiency and KM processes’ efficiency scores. An application of the model has been carried out to evaluate KM performance in higher educational institutions. It is found that with GA, the accuracy of the model has been greatly improved. Lastly, comparing with a conventional deterministic DEA model, the results from the proposed model would be more useful for managers to determine future strategies to improve their KM.  相似文献

Knowledge is currently considered an asset for organisations. In this new paradigm, Knowledge Management (KM) is emerging as an unavoidable activity for organisations. Information and communications technologies, together with business policies, become a tool par excellence for supporting the creation of KM platforms that provide access to organisation knowledge resources such as workers, technical reports, software applications, and business documents. In spite of the benefits provided by current KM platforms, most of them were designed to manage a single type of knowledge (tacit or explicit) without considering either the form in which organisational areas need knowledge to be provided (reactive or proactive) or the integration with business processes. This work presents a process-aware approach to develop KM platforms linked to business processes with semantic capability to manage knowledge objects with natural language content as well as to support social interactions and ad hoc working groups. To this aim, a comprehensive analysis of influencing-KM factors to be addressed by technological solutions is considered by a set of technological requirements. Based on these requirements, a model that provides the main components to be addressed by KM approaches is specified and implemented by a technological platform. This platform goes after a balance between technological and social aspects that support and promote collaboration and communication among organisation members.  相似文献

Innovation drives organizational success, the true knowledge management endgame. Knowledge management (KM) must harness the processes that deliver innovation. KM is ill defined in the marketplace. Therefore, companies mistakenly segregate critical IT infrastructure needs such as e-learning, performance support, process improvement, reengineering, change management, and KM. They fence off efforts in these areas from each other, even setting them up as competitive initiatives, each with its own champion. Initiative leaders strive to increase performance, but they often compete for precious few resources in a vacuum of knowledge about other the true strategic efforts. In particular, most employees and managers lack knowledge about KM. KM can only enhance organizational performance when understood and intelligently applied, which includes integration with other improvement initiatives. 在对机器翻译发展艰难历程总结和反思的基础上,提出了以用户模型为核心的知识管理与机器翻译技术融合的新思想。2008年7月该成果通过了中国中文信息学会在京组织的鉴定,鉴定委员会一致认为“研制单位基于其所承担的国家863课题机器翻译和知识管理技术的融合研发的基于知识管理和智能控制的协同翻译平台已圆满完成。该项研究在利用知识管理技术实现人机双向协同翻译方面达到国际领先水平。”本文对平台研制的思想与方法、设计与实现、分析与应用、历程与展望进行了阐述。  相似文献

Knowledge management (KM) adoption in the supply chain (SC) needs high investment as well as few changes in culture of entire SC. This study proposes a prediction framework based on the fuzzy decision-making trail and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) and fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making (FMCDM) for KM adoption in SC. This study first identifying the evaluation criteria of KM adoption in SC from literature review and expert opinion. Further, it uses fuzzy DEMATEL to evaluate weighting of each evaluation criteria's, after that FMCDM method uses to obtain possible rating of success of KM adoption in SC. The proposed approach is helpful to predict the success of KM adoption in SC without actually adopted KM in SC. It also enables organizations to decide whether to initiate KM, restrain adoption or undertake remedial improvements to increase the possibility of successful KM adoption in SC. This prominent advantage can be considered as one of the contribution of this paper. This proposed approach demonstrated with empirical case of a hydraulic valve manufacturing organization in India.  相似文献

This article sets out to investigate the critical factors of Knowledge Management (KM) which are considered to have an impact on the performance of Chinese information and communication technology (ICT) firms. This study confirms that the cultural environment of an enterprise is central to its success in the context of China. Knowledge management (KM) is very important in the business world of today. The Taiwanese government has recognized the importance of KM in helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to innovate through both their internal core competencies and external resources. This study combines the concept of social capital and motivation–opportunity–ability models by both social and technological dimensions to investigate the human factors that characterize knowledge sharing and the motivational elements that can encourage investment in it.
