A new scheme for bi‐directional HDTV/Gigabit Ethernet/CATV transmission over a hybrid dense‐wavelength‐division‐multiplexing passive optical network (DWDM‐PON) is proposed and demonstrated. It is based on injection‐locked vertical‐cavity surface‐emitting lasers and distributed‐feedback laser diodes as transmitters. Services with 129 HDTV channels, a 1.25 Gbps Gigabit Ethernet connection, and 77 CATV channels are successfully demonstrated over 40 km single‐mode fiber links. Good performance of bit error rate, carrier‐to‐noise ratio, composite second order, and composite triple beat is achieved in our proposed bidirectional DWDM‐PON. 相似文献

We propose and demonstrate an efficient power‐saving optical network unit (ONU) based on upstream traffic monitoring for 10‐Gb/s wavelength division multiplexed passive optical networks (WDM‐PONs). The power‐saving mode controller uses a μ‐processor and traffic monitoring modules followed by the proposed power‐saving processes to operate the sleep mode ONU. The power consumption of the ONU is effectively reduced from 19.3 W to 6.4 W when no traffic from the users is detected. In addition, we design a power‐saving mechanism based on a cyclic sleep mode operation to allow a connectivity check between the optical line terminal and ONU. Our calculation results show that the WDM‐PON ONU reduces the power consumption by around 60% using the proposed mechanism. 相似文献

The synthesis and optical investigations of di(p‐methoxylphenyl)dibenzofulvene ( 1 ) and its analogues 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6, and 7 with different lengths of alkoxyl chains are presented. All of these molecules exhibit emission in the solid state. The following interesting properties are reported for compound 1 : 1) the solid‐state fluorescence of 1 is dependent on the polymorphism forms; the two crystalline forms 1a and 1b are strongly blue‐ and yellow‐green‐emissive, whereas the amorphous solid is weakly fluorescent with orange emission; 2) on the basis of crystal‐structural analysis, the intermolecular interactions will restrict the internal rotations, leading to fluorescence enhancement for the two crystalline forms 1a and 1b ; however, the difference in emission color between 1a and 1b is ascribed to the molecular conformational alteration; 3) the solid‐state fluorescence of 1 can be tuned by heating and cooling as well as grinding. Importantly, microrods of 1a and 1b exhibit outstanding optical waveguide behaviors. Moreover, amplified spontaneous emission for 1b and multimode‐lasing behavior for 1a are presented. Besides the studies of compound 1 , the crystal structures and solid‐state fluorescence behaviors of 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6, and 7 are also described. 相似文献

The steadily rising demand for multimedia and data services, the falling cost and omnipresence of Ethernet and the maturity of passive optical networks (PON) technology, promise to radically change the landscape in the local loop. The heart of a gigabit PON system (recently standardized by FSAN/ITU) is the medium access controller (MAC), which arbitrates access to the upstream link among users with fluctuating traffic demands and effects the multiplexing and concentration policy. At the same time, it has to safeguard the service quality and enforce the parameters agreed in the service level agreements (SLAs) between the users and the service provider. In this paper, a MAC protocol designed to serve any mix of services according to their quality of service (QoS) needs, employing four priority levels along with a high number of logically separate data queues is presented. The architecture and implementation in hardware of a MAC algorithm capable of allocating bandwidth down to a resolution of a byte with QoS differentiation is the focus of this paper. It employs the bandwidth arbitration tools of the FSAN/ITU G.984.3 standard and maps SLA parameters to GPON service parameters to create an efficient, fair and flexible residential access system. Recently both ITU and IEEE have standardized solutions for passive optical networks (PONs) operating at gigabit per second line rates and optimized for the transport of packet‐based traffic to improve the efficiency of previously standardized broadband PONs, which used the ATM cell as the data transport unit. The efficiency and performance of PON systems depend on the transmission convergence layer and mainly on the implemented medium access protocol. Although the latter is not part of the standards and left to the implementer, the standards describe a set of control fields that constitute the tool‐set for the media access control (MAC) operation. Though starting from a common and quite obvious basis, the two standards present significant differences with the legacy of Ethernet marking the IEEE approach, while the emphasis of ITU is on demanding services. In this paper we compare the efficiency and performance of the two systems assuming the implementation of as close as possible MAC protocols. The target is twofold: assess and compare the traffic handling potential of each of the two standards and identify the range of applications they can support. The p‐type nanowire field‐effect transistor (FET) with a SiGe shell channel on a Si core is optimally designed and characterized using in‐depth technology computer‐aided design (TCAD) with quantum models for sub‐10‐nm advanced logic technology. SiGe is adopted as the material for the ultrathin shell channel owing to its two primary merits of high hole mobility and strong Si compatibility. The SiGe shell can effectively confine the hole because of the large valence‐band offset (VBO) between the Si core and the SiGe channel arranged in the radial direction. The proposed device is optimized in terms of the Ge shell channel thickness, Ge fraction in the SiGe channel, and the channel length (Lg) by examining a set of primary DC and AC parameters. The cutoff frequency (fT) and maximum oscillation frequency (fmax) of the proposed device were determined to be 440.0 and 753.9 GHz when Lg is 5 nm, respectively, with an intrinsic delay time (τ) of 3.14 ps. The proposed SiGe‐shell channel p‐type nanowire FET has demonstrated a strong potential for low‐power and high‐speed applications in 10‐nm‐and‐beyond complementary metal‐oxide‐semiconductor (CMOS) technology. 相似文献
