分布反馈染料激光器(简称DFDL)是七十年代发展起来的。Kogelnik及Shank等于1971年第一次将分布反馈体现在染料激光器中。经过多年的努力,特别是最近的研究证明DFDL是超短光脉冲产生的一种新途径。Zs.Bor等人用TEA N_2激光器泵浦DFDL获得了6ps的短脉冲输出,用锁模Nd:YAG激光泵浦DFDL产生了1.6~3.5ps转换极限的单脉冲。DFDL廉价、简便,该技术比锁模技术简单可靠,不需特殊的脉冲选择装置就可获得单脉冲,不用调制器就可直接产生微微秒脉冲,即使有几个脉冲,也可利用各脉冲的方向不同,方便地进行空间选取, 相似文献

We report measurements which show that an actively stabilized cw mode-locked Nd:YLF laser, in combination with a flashlamp-pumped Nd:glass amplifier, can achieve better than 1 cm resolution of distant rotating targets using range-Doppler imaging. To do this, we have produced trains of 50 ps mode-locked pulses with less than 25 kHz peak-to-peak optical frequency broadening and jitter of the laser modes. This frequency stability is achieved by active control of the oscillator cavity length using an external cavity as a reference. Cavity length stabilization can also reduce mode-locked laser timing jitter if the jitter is caused by cavity optical path length changes common to all laser modes. In our laser, however, the active optical-frequency-stabilization did not significantly improve laser pulse timing stability from the approximate 2-ps jitter levels achieved in our passively stabilized cavity. Mode locking and frequency tuning of a CW light-focusing Nd : glass laser called the SELFOC Nd : glass laser were achieved. Using an acoustooptic modulator having a modest degree of modulation (about 3 percent), almost perfectly mode-locked pulses as short as 49 ps were obtained. Pulsewidth was measured with an intensity-correlation method using the second-harmonic generation in KDP. Most of the observed shapes of the intensity-correlation curves were in agreement with theories previously presented by several authors. When the laser was mode locked, the long-term averaged optical spectrum was observed to narrow considerably. Some experimental evidence that the CW SELFOC Nd:glass laser could be considered to have a homogeneously broadened line was also found. Frequency tuning was achieved by using a tilted etalon in a cavity. When a 50-μm-thick etalon was used, the tuning range was more than 40 Å. Pulses obtained from a frequency-tuned mode-locked laser were as short as about 100 ps. 相似文献

A Nd:YLF laser pumped with a CW dye laser and acoustooptically mode locked at 38 MHz has an output power of 130 mW and a pulse length of 60 ps. Insertion of intracavity etalons and misaligning the mode locker allows for stable operation with a continuous range of pulse lengths from 60 ps to 4 ns. Regenerative compression of mode-locked laser pulses has been developed to provide a temporally short probe pulse for diagnosing laser-fusion plasmas. A single mode-locked pulse injected into a regenerative amplifier is compressed by an intracavity saturable dye. Analysis indicates the best operational mode and choice of experimental parameters. Experiments using Nd:YAG and Eastman A9740 dye demonstrate an eightfold compression from 120 to 15 ps with a shot-to-shot stability of ±4 percent. An oscillator/regenerative compressor system demonstrates a 15 ps probe pulse synchronized within ±5 ps to a 1000 ps target-heating pulse. 相似文献

A novel type of picosecond light source is the traveling-wave dye laser. It consists of a generator and an amplifier cell, both pumped by single pulses. Using the fast switching dye No. 5 with a fluorescence quantum efficiency of5 times 10^{-4} , one obtains an energy conversion of the pump to the IR pulse of up to 10 percent. The spectral width of the IR pulses is 15 cm-1over the tunability range of1.18-1.4 mu m. At 1.33 μm we observe Gaussian shaped pulses of 4.4 ps duration for pump pulses of 4.5 ps generated by a mode-locked Nd:glass laser. The output pulses show a high stability with a jitter of less than 0.2 ps. 相似文献

An electrooptic, actively mode-locked Nd: phosphate glass laser system is described employing a novel single-step feedback system to stabilize the pulse buildup time. Single output pulses of ∼100 ps duration with energies of up to 1 mJ could be reliably generated with a standard deviation in thesim3.2 mu s pulse buildup time of ±40 ns allowing synchronization with pulses from laser systems at other wavelengths. Evidence of pulse broading due to self-phase modulation was observed together with wide tunability of the output wavelength from 1.054 to 1.068 μm. 相似文献

An ultrafast time-domain optical multi/demultiplexer utilising the optical Kerr effect in two birefringent fibres concatenated with each fast axis crossed is proposed.
