Two polar polymers with different dielectric constants, poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), were each blended with a chlorine-terminated poly(ethylene ether) (PEC) and one of the two salts, LiBF4 and LiCF3CO2, to form PEC plasticized polymer electrolytes. The room-temperature ionic conductivity of the PEC plasticized polymer electrolytes reached a value as high as 10?4 S/cm. The room-temperature ionic conductivity of the PVDF-based polymer electrolytes displayed a stronger dependence on the PEC content than did the PEO-based polymer electrolytes. In PVDF/PEC/LiBF4 polymer electrolytes, the dynamic ionic conductivity was less dependent on temperature and more dependent on the PEC content than it was in PEO/PEC/LiBF4 polymer electrolytes. The highly plasticized PVDF-based polymer electrolyte film with a PEC content greater than CF4 (CF4 defined as the molar ratio of the repeat units of PEC to those of PVDF equal to 4) was self-supported and nonsticky, while the corresponding PEO-based polymer electrolyte film was sticky. In these highly plasticized PVDF-based polymer electrolytes, the curves of the room-temperature ionic conductivity vs. the salt concentration were convex because the number of carrier ions and the chain rigidity both increased with increase of the salt content. The maximum ionic conductivity at 30°C was independent of the PEC content, but it depended on the anion species of the lithium salts in these highly plasticized polymer electrolytes. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A new poly(propylene carbonate)/poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO/PPC) polymer electrolytes (PEs) have been developed by solution‐casting technique using biodegradable PPC and PEO. The morphology, structure, and thermal properties of the PEO/PPC polymer electrolytes were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and differential scanning calorimetry methods. The ionic conductivity and the electrochemical stability window of the PEO/PPC polymer electrolytes were also measured. The results showed that the Tg and the crystallinity of PEO decrease, and consequently, the ionic conductivity increases because of the addition of amorphous PPC. The PEO/50%PPC/10%LiClO4 polymer electrolyte possesses good properties such as 6.83 × 10?5 S cm?1 of ionic conductivity at room temperature and 4.5 V of the electrochemical stability window. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Solvents and electrolytes play an important role in the fabrication of dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). We have studied the poly(ethylene oxide)‐poly(methyl methacrylate)‐KI‐I2 (PEO‐PMMA‐KI‐I2) polymer blend electrolytes prepared with different wt % of the 2‐mercaptopyridine by solution casting method. The polymer electrolyte films were characterized by the FTIR, X‐ray diffraction, electrochemical impedance and dielectric studies. FTIR spectra revealed complex formation between the PEO‐PMMA‐KI‐I2 and 2‐mercaptopyrindine. Ionic conductivity data revealed that 30% 2‐mercaptopyridine‐doped PEO‐PMMA‐KI‐I2 electrolyte can show higher conductivity (1.55 × 10?5 S cm?1) than the other compositions (20, 40, and 50%). The effect of solvent on the conductivity and dielectric of solid polymer electrolytes was studied for the best composition (30% 2‐mercaptopyridine‐doped PEO‐PMMA‐KI‐I2) electrolyte using various organic solvents such as acetonitrile, N,N‐dimethylformamide, 2‐butanone, chlorobenzene, dimethylsulfoxide, and isopropanol. We found that ac‐conductivity and dielectric constant are higher for the polymer electrolytes processed from N,N‐dimethylformamide. This observation revealed that the conductivity of the solid polymer electrolytes is dependent on the solvent used for processing and the dielectric constant of the film. The photo‐conversion efficiency of dye‐sensitized solar cells fabricated using the optimized polymer electrolytes was 3.0% under an illumination of 100 mW cm?2. The study suggests that N,N‐dimethylformamide is a good solvent for the polymer electrolyte processing due to higher ac‐conductivity beneficial for the electrochemical device applications. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hybrid polymer dry electrolytes comprised of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), polyacrylonitrile (PAN), and LiClO4 were investigated. The impedance spectroscopy showed that the effect of PAN on the ion conductivity of PEO‐based electrolytes depends on the concentration of lithium salt. When the mole ratio of lithium to oxygen is 0.062 (15%LiClO4‐PEO), adding PAN will increase the ionic conductivity. Differential scanning calorimetry, NMR, and IR data suggested that the enhanced conductivity was due to both the decreasing of the PEO crystallinity and increasing of the degree of ionization of lithium salt. There was obviously no interaction between PAN and lithium ions, and PAN acts as a reinforcing filler, and hence contributes to the mechanical strength besides reducing the crystallinity of the polymer electrolytes. When the LiClO4‐PEO‐PAN hybrid polymer electrolyte was heated at 200°C under N2, PAN crosslinked partially, which further decreased the crystallinity of PEO and increased the ionic conductivity, and at the same time prevented the recrystallization of PEO upon sitting at ambient environment. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. All solid-state poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) nanocomposite electrolytes were made containing nanoscale fillers of layered double hydroxides (LDHs). Two kinds of oligo(ethylene oxide) modified LDHs were prepared by template method, and added into PEO/LiClO4 matrix (with EO/Li molar ratio of 8) to study the effect on the ionic conductivity of PEO/LDH nanocomposite electrolytes. The structures of the modified LDHs were characterized by infrared spectra, thermogravimetric analysis and wide-angle X-ray diffraction. The results show that the oligo(ethylene oxide) with phosphonate anion can be effectively intercalated into the gallery region of LDHs and formed as an organic-inorganic hybrid (PLDH). With enhanced compatibility of LDH sheets by oligo(ethylene oxide) surface modification, the PEO/PLDH nanocomposite exhibits fully exfoliation morphology. The well dispersed LDH layers in PEO/LiClO4/PLDH nanocomposite electrolytes rendering the formation of amorphous phase, results in an enhancement of ionic conductivity by three orders of magnitude compared to the pure PEO/LiClO4 polymer electrolyte. This novel nanocomposite electrolytes system with high ionic conductivity will be benefited to fabricate the thin-film type of Li-polymer secondary battery. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Polymer electrolyte membranes based on poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) doped with TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by simple solution cast technique. Mesoporous TiO2 film was prepared by doctor‐blade method. The modified polymer membranes and the mesoporous films were characterized by SEM, TEM, AFM, ionic conductivity, and J‐V measurements. Dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSC) have been fabricated in which PEO‐polymer electrolyte doped with and without nano‐TiO2 were sandwiched between porous TiO2 and counter electrodes. The DSSC with nano‐TiO2 doped polymer electrolyte shows better performance (1.68%) in comparison with pristine polymer electrolyte (1.07%), which is due to improved ionic conductivity value in polymer electrolyte system by nano‐TiO2 doping. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polyethylene oxide (PEO) based-solid polymer electrolytes were prepared with low weight polymers bearing carboxylic acid groups added onto the polymer backbone, and the variation of the conductivity and performance of the resulting Li ion battery system was examined. The composite solid polymer electrolytes (CSPEs) were composed of PEO, LiClO4, PAA (polyacrylic acid), PMAA (polymethacrylic acid), and Al2O3. The addition of additives to the PEO matrix enhanced the ionic conductivities of the electrolyte. The composite electrolyte composed of PEO:LiClO4:PAA/PMAA/Li0.3 exhibited a low polarization resistance of 881.5 ohms in its impedance spectra, while the PEO:LiClO4 film showed a high value of 4,592 ohms. The highest ionic conductivity of 9.87 × 10−4 S cm−1 was attained for the electrolyte composed of PEO:LiClO4:PAA/PMAA/Li0.3 at 20 °C. The cyclic voltammogram of Li+ recorded for the cell consisting of the PEO:LiClO4:PAA/PMAA/Li0.3:Al2O3 composite electrolyte exhibited the same diffusion process as that obtained with an ultra-microelectrode. Based on this electrolyte, the applicability of the solid polymer electrolytes to lithium batteries was examined for an Li/SPE/LiNi0.5Co0.5O2 cell.  相似文献

Solid poly(ethylene oxide)–urethane electrolytes were prepared from blends of polyurethane and NaClO4. The samples were characterized by FTIR, DSC, atomic force microscopy, and complex impedance analysis. The effect of the concentration of NaClO4 on the poly(ethylene oxide)–urethane/NaClO4 complex were studied. The results showed that the concentration of NaClO4 had an important effect on the ion–polymer interaction, ion–ion interaction, glass‐transition temperature, morphologic structure, and ionic conductivity of the complex. We also prepared a model compound of hard segments and found that the conductivity of the complex decreased when the model compound was blended into the complex. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The impedance spectra of electrolytes comprising poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) with LiN(CF3SO2)2 (LiTFSI) salt were measured for a wide range of concentration of salt in polymer electrolyte (from pure PEO to molar ratio of 1:1 EO:Li) and in various states (amorphous and semicrystalline). The measurements were performed on membranes placed between gold-plated stainless steel electrodes. Investigations of crystallization and melting with simultaneous observations in a polarizing microscope were performed between glass plates covered with film of indium tin oxide. The impedance data were analyzed by least squares fitting of equivalent circuit. Two different equivalent circuits were proposed for modeling of interfacial impedance for electrolytes with low and high concentration of salt, respectively. The decrease of the contact area due to the increase of stiffness of electrolyte and changes of electrical properties of the interfacial layer due to the presence of crystalline lamellae were identified as the major causes for changes of impedance of the interface layer taking place during crystallization.  相似文献

This paper reviews the state of the art of composite polymer electrolytes (CPE) in view of their electrochemical and physical properties for the applications in lithium batteries. This review mainly encompasses on composite polymer electrolyte hosts namely poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF) studied so far. Also the ionic conductivity, transference number, compatibility and the cycling behavior of poly(vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoro propylene) (PVdF-HFP)-[AlO(OH)]n-LiPF6/LiClO4 composite electrolytes have been studied and the results are discussed.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Polymer electrolytes have attracted considerable attention as regards portable solid‐state electrochemical device applications. The present investigation is focused on the characterization of a new Na+ ion conducting polymer electrolyte (PEO)6:NaPO3 dispersed with 3–10 wt% BaTiO3 (0.7 µm) fillers. The composite polymer electrolytes (CPEs) were prepared by a solution‐casting method and characterized using various physical measurement techniques. RESULTS: Differential scanning calorimetry results indicate a maximum reduction in the degree of crystallinity of the polymer from 62.6% for uncomplexed poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) to 27.6% for the CPE with 6 wt% BaTiO3. This substantiates an enhancement in the amorphous phase of the polymer inferred from X‐ray diffraction and optical micrographs. The CPE dispersed with 6 wt% BaTiO3 is found to be the best composition exhibiting a maximum ionic conductivity of 1.2 × 10?6 S cm?1 at 345 K with cationic transport number (t) of 0.33. CONCLUSIONS: An enhancement in the ionic conductivity of about two orders of magnitude is achieved for the composite electrolytes when compared to filler‐free solid polymer electrolyte. Correlation of the temperature‐dependent conductivity, activation energy for ion migration and transport number enables an understanding of the role played by the fillers in conduction characteristics of the CPEs. The polymer electrolytes composed of a blend of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (P(VDF-HFP)) as a host polymer, mixture of ethylene carbonate (EC) and propylene carbonate (PC) as a plasticizer, and LiClO4 as a salt were prepared by a solution casting technique. SEM micrographs show that P(VDF-HFP) is very compatible with PEO. The ionic conductivity of the electrolytes increases with increasing plasticizer content, while the mechanical properties become obviously worse. By addition of a certain content of PEO in P(VDF-HFP) matrix, a good compromise between high ionic conductivity and mechanical stability can be obtained.  相似文献

Polymer electrolytes based on poly(ethylene glycol) dimethyl ether (PEGdME) and the ionic liquid (IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([bmim]PF6) have been prepared and characterized by different techniques. Coordination of the IL by the polymer occurs mainly in the amorphous phase. This finding was correlated with previous theoretical investigations of a similar model for polymer electrolytes based on poly(ethylene oxide), PEO, and IL. It has been obtained ionic conductivity σ ∼ 10−3 S cm−1 for the polymer electrolyte with 35 wt% of IL at 100 °C. The same order of magnitude for σ was obtained by molecular dynamics simulation of PEO/IL. This work demonstrates consistency between experimental and theoretical results for polymer electrolytes containing ionic liquids.  相似文献

Polyvinyl formal based polymer electrolyte membranes are prepared via the optimized phase inversion method with poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) blending. The physical properties of blend membranes and the electrochemical properties of corresponding gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) are characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, mechanical strength test, electrolyte uptake test, AC impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and galvanostatic charge–discharge test. The comparative study shows that the appearance of PEO obviously enhances the tensile strength of membranes and the ionic conductivity of corresponding GPEs. When the weight ratio of PEO is 30%, the tensile strength of membrane achieves 12.81 MPa, and its GPE shows high ionic conductivity of 2.20 × 10−3 S cm−1, wide electrochemical stable window of 1.9–5.7 V (vs. Li/Li+), and good compatibility with LiFePO4 electrode. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) consist of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), sodium iodide (NaI) and different amount of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were prepared. The conductivity study revealed that the highest ionic conductivity of GPE was 7.02 × 10?3 S cm?1. The structural and complexation between the materials are authenticated via X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Under the exposure of AM 1.5, the fabricated DSSCs exhibited the highest photoenergy conversion efficiency of 7.23% with a short circuit current density (JSC) of 18.64 mA cm?2, open circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.590 mV and fill factor (FF) of 65.7%.  相似文献

A novel method of introducing a synthesized organic nitrogenous compound 2,6 (N-pyrazolyl)isonicotinic acid (BNIN) and its effect on the conduction behavior of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF)–poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) polymer-blend electrolyte with potassium iodide (KI) and iodine (I2) and the corresponding performance of the dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) were studied. A systematic investigation of the blends using FTIR provides evidence of interaction of BNIN with the polymer. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) study proves the miscibility of these polymers. Due to the coordinating and plasticizing effects of BNIN, the ionic conductivity of polymer blend electrolytes is enhanced. The efficiency of DSSC using BNIN doped polymer blend electrolyte was 7.3% under an illumination of 60 mW cm−2 were observed for the best performance of a solar cell in this work.  相似文献

A method to produce nanocomposite polymer electrolytes consisting of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) as the polymer matrix, lithium tetrafluoroborate (LiBF4) as the lithium salt, and TiO2 as the inert ceramic filler is described. The ceramic filler, TiO2, was synthesized in situ by a sol–gel process. The morphology and crystallinity of the nanocomposite polymer electrolytes were examined by scanning electron microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry, respectively. The electrochemical properties of interest to battery applications, such as ionic conductivity, Li+ transference number, and stability window were investigated. The room‐temperature ionic conductivity of these polymer electrolytes was an order of magnitude higher than that of the TiO2 free sample. A high Li+ transference number of 0.51 was recorded, and the nanocomposite electrolyte was found to be electrochemically stable up to 4.5 V versus Li+/Li. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The solid polymeric nanocomposite electrolyte (SPNE) films based on the blend of amorphous poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and semicrystalline poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) (PMMA:PEO = 80:20 wt %) doped with lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) salt and montmorillonite (MMT) clay nanofiller were prepared by classical solution cast, ultrasonic assisted solution cast and ultrasonication along with microwave irradiated solution cast followed by melt‐pressing methods. The X‐ray diffraction study of these electrolytes revealed the amorphous behavior with intercalated MMT structures. The suppressed crystallinity of PEO in the blend electrolyte complexes confirmed the existence of single discrete PEO chains confined within the PMMA domains. The dielectric relaxation spectroscopy of these materials was performed over the frequency range 20 Hz to 1 MHz, at ambient temperature. The presence of a singular relaxation peak in the loss tangent and electric modulus spectra of these electrolytes confirms a coupled cooperative chain segmental dynamics of the blend polymer owing to their miscible amorphous morphology. The behavior of transient complexes formed between the polymers functional groups, lithium cations and the intercalated MMT nanoplatelets was explored. The ambient temperature ionic conductivity of these electrolytes depends on the structural dynamics and the sample preparation methods. It is revealed that the presence of PEO in the PMMA matrix mainly governs the structural, dielectric, and ionic properties of these SPNE films. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. A novel proton‐gel‐conducting polymer electrolyte was prepared by blending boron trifluoride diethyl etherate with poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), glycerol, and propylene carbonate (PC) at certain molar ratios. The electrolytes exhibited ambient conductivity from 10?5 to 10?3 S/cm. DSC results indicated that the electrolytes were amorphous. The 1H‐NMR and Raman spectra showed strong interactions between the Lewis acid and the hydroxyl groups both of glycerol and of PEO. This resulted in the formation of protons for ionic conduction. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 90: 1267–1272, 2003  相似文献

The polymer electrolyte based poly(ethylene oxide) complexed with conducting polyaniline (PANI) has been prepared in different weight percentages. The complexation is confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).The change in morphology is studied by using scanning electron microscopy. The DC conductivity measurements are carried out using Keithley digital multimeter. It is seen that DC conductivity shows exponential behavior for all PEO : PANI complexes. It is observed that among all the PEO : PANI complexes, 50 wt % of PEO in PANI shows highest conductivity. Electrochemical cell parameters for battery applications at room temperature also have been determined. The samples are fabricated for battery application in the configuration of Na:(PEO : PANI):(I2 + C + sample), and their experimental data are measured using Wagner polarization technique. The cell parameters results in an open-circuit voltage of 0.4 V and a short-circuit current of 902 μA for PEO : PANI (50 : 50) composite. Hence, these composites can be better candidates for the polymer electrolyte studies. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2012  相似文献
