A SiCnw@SiC foam with highly efficient microwave absorption (MA) performance was successfully synthesized based on Vapor-Solid (V–S) growth mechanism. SiC nanowire (SiCnw) and SiC foam skeleton efficiently form a double network coupling structure, which gives additional interface polarization and dielectric loss for the SiC foam, significantly enhancing the MA capacity of the foam. In this study, the SiCnw@SiC foam has a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of ?86.31 dB and an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 12.55 GHz in room-temperature environment. However, the MA performance of SiCnw@SiC foam decreases with increasing temperature, which may be due to the thickening of the SiO2 layer in the SiCnw at high temperature. At 600 °C, it has no effective absorption bandwidth, while at 1000 °C, the EAB and RLmin were 0.6 GHz and ?13.04 dB, respectively. As the temperature reaches 1000 °C, the defects in the material further increase, leading to a recovery in the MA performance.  相似文献

A SiC-nanowire-modified SiC–Si (SiCnw@SiC–Si) coating was prepared for carbon-fibre-reinforced carbon-matrix (C/C) composites using a two-step method based on thermal evaporation and gaseous silicon infiltration, and the effects of SiC nanowires on the oxidation and ablation behaviours of the coated samples were studied. Oxidation tests conducted at 1500 °C revealed that the weight loss of the SiC–Si-coated C/C composite was 15.85% after 6 h, whereas the SiCnw@SiC–Si-coated C/C composite experienced a significantly lower weight loss of 1.27% after 50 h. Ablation tests suggested that the mass and linear ablation rates of the SiCnw@SiC–Si-coated C/C composite were 0.05 mg/s and 0.09 μm/s, respectively; they were reduced by 78.26 and 92.74%, respectively, compared with those of the SiC–Si-coated C/C composite. Careful characterisation suggested that the network structure of the SiC nanowires in the SiC–Si phase can suppress crack propagation and firmly attach to the coating surface to enhance the interfacial adhesion between the coating and substrate, leading to improved anti-oxidation and anti-ablation properties. The SiCnw@SiC–Si coating could offer a technological foundation for preventing the oxidation and ablation of C/C composites in aerospace engineering.  相似文献

SiC-nanowire-reinforced SiCf/SiC composites were successfully fabricated through an in situ growth of SiC nanowires on SiC fibres via chemical vapour infiltration. The dielectric and microwave absorption properties of the composites were investigated within the frequency range of 8.2–12.4 GHz at 25–600 °C. The electric conductivity and complex permittivity of the composites displayed evident temperature-dependent behaviour and were enhanced with increasing temperature. The composites exhibited superior microwave absorption abilities with a minimum reflection loss value of ?47.5 dB at 11.4 GHz and an effective bandwidth of 2.8 GHz at 600 °C. Apart from the contribution of the interconnected SiC nanowire network and multiple reflections, the excellent microwave absorption performance was attributed to dielectric loss that originated from SiC nanowires with abundant stacking faults and heterostructure interfaces. Results suggested that the composites are promising candidates for high-temperature microwave absorbing materials.  相似文献

The employment of coating technique on the silicon carbide fibers plays a pivotal role in preparing SiC fiber-reinforced SiC composites (SiCf/SiC) toward electromagnetic wave absorption applications. In this work, SiC nanowires (SiCNWs) are successfully deposited onto the pyrolytic carbon (PyC) coated SiC fibers by an electrophoretic deposition method, and subsequently densified by chemical vapor infiltration to obtain SiCNWs/PyC-SiCf/SiC composites. The results reveal that the introduction of SiCNWs could markedly enhance the microwave absorption properties of PyC-SiCf/SiC composites. Owing to the increasing of SiCNWs loading, the minimum reflection loss of composites raises up to −58.5 dB in the SiCNWs/PyC-SiCf/SiC composites with an effective absorption bandwidth (reflection loss ≤ −10 dB) of 6.13 GHz. The remarkable enhancement of electromagnetic wave absorption performances is mainly attributed to the improved dielectric loss ability, impedance matching and multiple reflections. This work provides a novel strategy in preparing SiCf/SiC composites with excellent electromagnetic wave absorption properties.  相似文献

In this study, the high-content SiCnw reinforced SiC ceramic matrix composites (SiCnw/SiC CMC) were successfully fabricated by hot pressing β-SiC and sintering additive (Al2O3-Y2O3) with boron nitride interphase modification SiCnw. The effects of sintering additive content and mass fraction (5–25 wt%) of SiCnw on the density, microstructure, and mechanical properties of the composites were investigated. The results showed that with the increase of sintering additives from 10 wt% to 12 wt%, the relative density of the SiCnw/SiC CMC increased from 97.3% to 98.9%, attributed to the generated Y3Al5O12 (YAG) liquid phase from the Al2O3-Y2O3 that promotes the rearrangement and migration of SiC grains. The comprehensive performance of the obtained composite with 15 wt% SiCnw possessed the optimal flexural strength and fracture toughness of 524 ± 30.24 MPa and 12.39 ± 0.49 MPa·m1/2, respectively. Besides, the fracture mode of the composites with 25 wt% SiCnw content revealed a pseudo-plastic fracture behavior. It concludes that the 25 wt% SiCnw/SiC CMC was toughened by the fiber pull-outs, debonding, bridging, and crack deflection that can consume plenty of fracture energy. The strategy of SiC nanowires worked as a main bearing phase for the fabrication of SiC/SiC CMC providing critical information for understanding the mechanical behavior of high toughness and high strength SiC nanoceramic matrix composites.  相似文献

High-temperature structural electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption materials are increasing in demand because they can simultaneously possess the functions of mechanical load-bearing, heatproof, and EMW absorption. Herein, SiCf/Si–O–C composites were prepared by precursor impregnation pyrolysis using continuous SiC fibers needled felt as reinforcement and polysiloxane as a precursor, respectively. The phase composition, microstructure, complex permittivity, and EMW absorption properties of SiCf/Si–O–C composites after annealing at various temperatures were investigated. The annealing at 1400–1500°C affects positively the EMW absorption performance of the composites, because the β-SiC microcrystals and SiC nanowires were generated by the activation of carbothermal reduction reaction in the composites, and the aspect ratio of SiC nanowires increased with the rise of temperature. The composites exhibit optimal EMW absorption performance, with the effective absorption bandwidth covering the entire X-band and the minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of −32.8 dB at 4.0 mm when the annealing temperature is raised to 1500°C. This is because that the impedance matching is improved as the rising of ε′ and decreasing of ε″ due to the conversion of free carbon in the composite into SiC nanowires.  相似文献

Effective electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding requires materials with high permittivity. The current study reports 3D printed polymer-derived SiOC ceramics (PDC) modified with SiC nanowires (SiCnw) exhibiting both high real and imaginary parts of permittivity within X-band. SEM results indicated that a large number of pores and cracks exist in the SiOC, and twinned SiCnw were uniformly grown among them along with the existence of graphite microcrystals when the sintering temperature was 1500 ℃. The real part of permittivity ranged from 16.6 to 28.9 while the imaginary part from 31.7 to 34.2 in X-band. The EMI total shielding effectiveness (SET) of the ceramics could reach 34.7 dB with absorption loss (SEA) of 29.3 dB and reflection loss (SER) of 5.4 dB. Meanwhile, the 3D printed PDC-SiOC ceramics at 900 ℃ sintering temperature possess certain mechanical properties with the magnitude of compressive strength being 12.57 MPa.  相似文献

The current study introduces a methodology for the fabrication of porous silicon carbide nanowire/silicon carbide (SiCnw/SiC) ceramics with macroscopic unidirectionally aligned channels and reports on their microstructural and mechanical properties. The material was produced by freezing of a water-based slurry of β-SiC nanowires (SiCnw) with control of the ice growth direction. Pores were subsequently generated by sublimation of the columnar ice during freeze-drying. Chemical vapor infiltration (CVI) of SiC into the open pore network of the SiCnw aerogel with unidirectionally aligned channels, resulted in the formation of highly porous SiCnw/SiC ceramics which exhibited a unique microstructure as identified by scanning electron microscopy. The pore size distribution and the mechanical properties of the as-fabricated porous ceramics were examined by mercury intrusion porosimetry and three-point bending and compression tests, respectively, while phase composition was investigated through X-ray diffraction.  相似文献

To tailor the fiber–matrix interface of SiC nanowires-reinforced SiC (SiCnw/SiC) ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) for improved mechanical properties, SiC nanowires were coated with BN and pyrolytic carbon (PyC) compound coatings prepared by the dip-coating process in boric acid and urea solution and the pyrolysis of phenolic resin. SiCnw/SiC CMC with PyC/BN interfaces were fabricated by reactive melt infiltration (RMI) at 1680°C for 1 h. The influences of phenolic resin content on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the CMC were investigated. The results showed that the flexural strength and fracture toughness reach the maximum values of 294 MPa and 4.74 MPa m1/2 as the phenolic resin content was 16 and 12 wt%, respectively. The displacement–load curve of the sample exhibited a gradient drop with increasing phenolic resin content up to 12 wt%. The results demonstrated that the PyC/BN compound coatings could play the role of protecting the SiCnw from degradation as well as improving the more moderate interfacial bonding strengths during the RMI.  相似文献

It is a great challenge in promoting a microwave absorber with excellent absorbing properties in the low-frequency region. Herein, SiC fibers (SiCf) coated by a bilayer of FeNi/C (SiCf/FeNi/C) are fabricated via a two-step magnetron sputtering method. Owing to the improved dielectric loss, magnetic loss, and impedance matching, the reflection loss of SiCf/FeNi/C is remarkably enhanced. Accordingly, the minimum reflection loss of SiCf/FeNi/C reaches ?26.18 dB at a low-frequency region of 3.44 GHz. Besides, the mechanic strength of SiCf/FeNi/C maintains at 2.32 GPa as compared to as-received SiCf. Thus, SiCf/FeNi/C is expected to be an ideal structure material to meet low-frequency microwave absorption requests.  相似文献

This study proposes a combustion-based ceramic matrix composite processing technique intended on single-step in situ deposition of single-crystal SiC nanowires (SiCnw) on the surface of carbon fibers (Cf) and formation of SiCnw–reinforced SiC matrix. This was accomplished by Ta-catalyzed combustion of poly-(C2F4)-containing reactive mixtures with pre-mixed chopped Cf. Depending on the combustion conditions, carbon fiber surface is subjected either to formation of diffusion layers, ceramic particle incrustation or growth of continuous arrays of carbon-coated single-crystal SiCnw with a nearly defect-free lattice, 10–50 nm diameter and 15–20 μm length. Thermodynamics, phase and structure formation mechanisms are explored, and the optimal conditions are outlined for reproducible Cf/in situ SiCnw dual reinforcement of SiC-based ceramics. Hot pressing at 1500 °C produced Cf/in situ SiCnw-reinforced ceramic SiC–TaSi2 specimens with a relative density of 97%, 19 GPa Vickers hardness, 3-point flexural strength σ = 420 ± 70 MPa and fracture toughness K1C = 12.5 MPa m1/2.  相似文献

In this account, RGO-SiCnw/SiBCN composite ceramics were fabricated using polymer derived ceramic (PDC) combined with chemical vapor infiltration (CVI) technology. Dielectric property of as-obtained RGO-SiCnw/SiBCN composite ceramics was significantly enhanced thanks to established conductive pathway through overlapped nanoscale SiCnw and micro-sized RGO. The minimum RC of composite ceramics with 0.5 wt% GO and 2.29 wt% SiCnw at thickness of 3.6 mm reached -42.02 dB with corresponding effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 4.2 GHz. As temperature rose from 25 to 400 °C, permittivity increased with enhanced charge carrier density and then it decreased due to oxidation process of RGO from 400 to 600 °C. The minimum reflection coefficient (RC) was recorded as -39.13 dB and EAB covered the entire X-band at 600 °C. EMW absorption ability was evaluated after high-temperature oxidation experiment under protective effect of wave-transparent Si3N4 coating. RGO-SiCnw/SiBCN composite ceramics maintained outstanding EMW absorption ability with minimum RC of -10.41 dB after oxidation at 900 °C, indicating RGO-SiCnw/SiBCN composite ceramics with excellent EMW absorption characteristic even at high temperatures and harsh environments.  相似文献

SiC nanowire/acrylic resin (SiCnw/ACR) composites with broadband electromagnetic (EM) absorption capabilities were fabricated by a novel procedure using 3D stereolithography (3D-SL) printing technology. The EM absorption abilities of the composites can be adjusted by tuning the SiCnw content and the thickness of the printing layer. When the SiCnw content is 3?wt% and the thickness of the printing layer is 25?μm–50?μm, the SiCnw/ACR composite has an optimally broad effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) and a high efficiency for EM absorption, whether assessing the C, X or Ku band, because of the high dielectric loss and proper impedance matching between the materials and free space. In the C band (4–8?GHz), the EAB reaches 2.9?GHz, and the reflection loss (RL) reaches ?34.1?dB; in the X band (8–12?GHz), the EAB reaches 4?GHz, which covers the entire X band, and the RL reaches ?34.5?dB; in the Ku band (12–18?GHz), the EAB exceeds 6?GHz, which covers the whole Ku band, and the RL reaches ?34.7?dB. This research is of great importance to the rapid preparation of parts, shells or devices with arbitrarily complex shapes and high efficiency broadband EM absorption abilities.  相似文献

To improve the thermal shock resistance of low carbon Al2O3-C refractories, SiC nanowires (SiCnw) containing SiCnw/Al2O3 composite reinforcement were introduced. The specific fracture energy of the Al2O3-C refractory matrix was obtained by statistical grid nano-indentation. The reinforcement mechanism of SiCnw/Al2O3 on thermal shock resistance of refractories was investigated. The results revealed that the matrix-specific fracture energy of A6 (6 wt% SiCnw/Al2O3 added) was 217 N/m, which was 58.4% higher than reference sample A0 (137 N/m) and 18.6% higher than MA6 (183 N/m, 6 wt% SiC/Al2O3 added). A6 showed the highest residual strength ratio of 49.8%, which was 114.7 % higher than A0 (23.2%) and 82.4 % higher than MA6 (27.3%). The components with different morphology in SiCnw/Al2O3 cluster, especially SiC nanowires, promote the generation of microcracks, crack multi-deflection, and branching, which toughen the matrix and improve the thermal shock resistance of refractories. In comparison to the literature, A6 showed a higher rising in residual strength ratio than those with higher graphite content (4 wt% and 20 wt%), which will greatly reduce the consumption of carbon-containing refractories and contribute to the reduction of CO2 emission.  相似文献

Herein, hierarchical porous SiCnw-Si3N4 composite ceramics with good electromagnetic absorption properties were prepared. A porous Si3N4 matrix with different pore structures was first prepared by gelcasting-pressureless sintering (G-PLS) and gelcasting combined with particle stabilized foam-pressureless sintering (G-PSF-PLS). SiCnw was then introduced by catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD). An increase in solid loading (25–40 vol%) decreased apparent porosity (47.7–41.3%) and improved flexural strength (142.19–240.36 MPa) and fracture toughness (2.25–3.68 MPa·m1/2). The addition of foam stabilizer propyl gallate (PG, 0.5–1.0 wt%) significantly increased apparent porosity (73.2–86.4%) and realized large-sized spherical pores, reducing flexural strength (58.23–38.56 MPa) and fracture toughness (0.75–0.41 MPa·m1/2). High apparent porosity and large-sized pores facilitated the introduction of SiCnw. The 25 vol% sample exhibited a reflection loss of ? 14.67 dB with an effective absorption bandwidth of 3.47 GHz, suggesting a development potential in the electromagnetic wave absorption field.  相似文献

SiC nanowire/siliconboron carbonitride-Silicon nitride (SiCnw/SiBCN-Si3N4) ceramics were prepared via a low-pressure chemical vapor deposition and infiltration (LPCVD/CVI) technique. The as-prepared ceramics were annealed at varying temperatures (1200–1600 °C) in a N2 atmosphere, and their crystallization mechanism and absorbing properties were subsequently studied. The absorbing properties of the SiCnw/SiBCN-Si3N4 ceramics improved with the annealing temperature up to a certain value and decreased thereafter. Among the samples tested, the SiCnw/SiBCN-Si3N4 ceramics annealed at 1300 °C showed the highest permittivity (real and imaginary parts) and dielectric loss values in the X-band (ca. 5.34, 2.55, and 0.47 respectively), and this could be attributed to the precipitation of carbon and SiC nanocrystals. The sample treated at 1300 °C decreased its minimum reflection coefficient (RC) from −12.0 to −59.68 dB (compared with the as-received SiCnw/SiBCN-Si3N4 ceramics) and the effective RC (below -10 dB) in the whole X-band could be achieved when the thickness was set to 3–3.5 mm. These results revealed that the absorbing performance was significantly improved after the heat treatment at 1300 °C.  相似文献

To realize the broad-bandwidth and high-efficiency absorption characteristics, a novel SiC nanowires reinforced SiO2/3Al2O3·2SiO2 porous ceramic was successfully fabricated by method of precursor infiltration pyrolysis (PIP). Polycarbosilane (PCS) and ferrocene (Fe(C5H5)2) were used as the precursor and catalyst to incorporate SiC nanowires into the SiO2/3Al2O3·2SiO2 porous ceramic. The curvy SiC nanowires formed three-dimensional (3D) networks with a proper nanometer heterostructure, thereby consuming the microwave energies. The influence of SiC nanowires contents on the microwave absorption properties was investigated. The results indicate that the SiC nanowires contents can be tuned by controlling the PIP cycles, thereby modifying the dielectric properties of as-prepared composite ceramics. The dielectric and electromagnetic wave absorption performances are gradually enhanced with an increasing of SiC nanowires contents. The SiC nanowires reinforced SiO2/3Al2O3·2SiO2 composite ceramic exhibits excellent electromagnetic wave absorption abilities when the SiC nanowires content is 23.9% (PIP5). The minimum reflection coefficient (RCmin) of the composite ceramic is −30 dB at 10.0 GHz, corresponding to more than 99.9% of the electromagnetic wave consumption. The effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) can cover the frequency ranges of 8.2–12.4 GHz (the entire X-band) at the thickness of 5.0 mm. In general, the novel SiC nanowires reinforced SiO2/3Al2O3·2SiO2 composite ceramic can be considered as a promising electromagnetic wave absorbing material.  相似文献

SiC fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composites (SiCf-CMCs) are considered to be one of the most promising materials in the electromagnetic (EM) stealth of aero-engines, which is expected to achieve strong absorption and broad-band performance. Multiscale structural design was applied to SiCf/Si3N4–SiOC composites by construction of micro/nanoscale heterogeneous interfaces and macro double-layer impedance matching structure. SiCf/Si3N4–SiOC composites were fabricated by using SiC fibers with different conductivities and SiOC–Si3N4 matrices with gradient impedance structures to improve impedance matching effectively. Owing to its unique structure, SiCf/Si3N4–SiOC composites (A3-composites) achieved excellent EM wave absorption performance with a minimum reflection coefficient (RCmin) of ?25.1 dB at 2.45 mm and an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 4.0 GHz at 2.85 mm in X-band. Moreover, double-layer SiCf/Si3N4–SiOC with an improved impedance matching structure obtained an RCmin of ?56.9 dB and an EAB of 4.2 GHz at 3.00 mm, which means it can absorb more than 90% of the EM waves in the whole X-band. The RC is less than ?8 dB at 2.6–2.8 mm from RT to 600 °C in the whole X-band, displaying excellent high-temperature absorption performance. The results provide a new design opinion for broad-band EM absorbing SiCf-CMCs at high temperatures.  相似文献

A novel ternary layered ceramic of Y3Si2C2 was successfully in-situ synthesized on the surface of home-made third-generation KD-SA SiC fiber for the first time by molten salt method aimed at improving the electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption. After in-situ synthesis of Y3Si2C2 ceramic layer on SiC fiber (SiCf/Y3Si2C2), significantly improved EMW absorption performance was obtained. The minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of ?16.97 dB was reached in SiCf/Y3Si2C2 composites at the thickness of only 2.19 mm, and the effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) was up to 5.44 GHz (12.56–18 GHz) at a thin thickness of 2.64 mm. The improvement in EMW absorption of SiCf/Y3Si2C2 is mainly attributed to enhanced dielectric loss and conduction loss resulting from increased heterogeneous interfaces and multiple reflections and scattering originating from net structure. The SiCf/Y3Si2C2 could be a promising EMW absorber for application in high-performance EMW absorbing materials.  相似文献

To improve the mechanical properties of carbon fibers/lithium aluminosilicate (Cf/LAS) composites, Cf/LAS with in-situ grown SiC nanowires (SiCnw-Cf/LAS) were prepared by chemical vapor phase reaction, precursor impregnation, and hot press sintering, consecutively. The effect of multi-scaled reinforcements (micro-scaled Cf and nano-scaled SiCnw) on the mechanical properties was investigated. The phase composition, microstructure and fracture surface of the composites were characterized by XRD, Raman Spectrum, SEM, and TEM. The morphology of SiCnw has a close relation with the content of Si. Microstructure analysis suggests that the growth of SiC nanowires depends on the VLS mechanism. The multi-scale reinforcement formed by Cf and SiCnw can significantly improve the mechanical properties of Cf/LAS. The bending strength of SiCnw-Cf/LAS reaches to 597 MPa, achieving an increase of 19% to Cf/LAS. Moreover, the samples show a maximum fracture toughness of 11.01 MPa m1/2, achieving an increase of 46.4% to Cf/LAS. Through analysis of the fracture surface, the improved mechanical properties could be attributed to the multi-scaled reinforcements by the pull-out and debonding of Cf and SiCnw from the composites.  相似文献
