The Role of E-commerce in Achieving Competitiveness ＂An Exploratory Study on Business Organizations in Saudi Arabia＂

This study aims to identify the role of E-commerce as an essential tool to achieve competitiveness between business organizations through implementing the model of Michael Porter theory. The study provides recommendations for building strategies that can reduce weaknesses and increase strengths in order to improve competition between business organizations using E-commerce. The results of factor analysis ＂Varmax＂ showed that there are nine factors with a significant role in achieving the competitiveness of business organizations. The researcher recommended the following recommendations： Business organizations should put buyers （customers of business organizations） on their strategic targets and provide all the E-commerce services that increase the bargaining power of buyers. In addition, establishing a strong relationship between the organization and its customers depend on trust and sincere loyalty. Reduce the bargaining power of buyers （customers of business organizations） and suppliers （suppliers of business organizations）, and to prevent the threat of substitute products or services, new competitors and competitors in the same business environment through the use of E-commerce tool in order to achieve competitiveness. The need to adopt an ＂Electronic Commercial Registration System＂ for E-commerce via the Internet by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Saudi Arabia.     

WWW Business Applications Based on the Cellular Model

A cellular model based on the Incrementally Modular Abstraction Hierarchy(IMAH)is a novel model that can represent the architecture of and changes in cyberworlds,preserving invariants from a general level to a specific one.We have developed a data processing system called the Cellular Data System(CDS).In the development of business applications,you can prevent combinatorial explosion in the process of business design and testing by using CDS.In this paper,we have first designed and implemented wide-use algebra on the presentation level.Next,we have developed and verified the effectiveness of two general business applications using CDS:1)a customer information management system,and 2)an estimate system.     

A Workflow Process Mining Algorithm Based on Synchro-Net

Sometimes historic information about workflow execution is needed to analyze business processes. Process mining aims at extracting information from event logs for capturing a business process in execution. In this paper a process mining algorithm is proposed based on Synchro-Net which is a synchronization-based model of workflow logic and workflow semantics. With this mining algorithm based on the model, problems such as invisible tasks and short-loops can be dealt with at ease. A process mining example is presented to illustrate the algorithm, and the evaluation is also given.     

The Distributed Workflow Management System — FlowAgent

While mainframe or 2-tier client/server system have serious problems in flexibility and scalability for the large-scale business processes,3-tier client/server architecture and object-oriented system modeling which construct business process on service components seem to bring software system some scalability.As enabling infrastructure for object-oriented methodology,distributed WFMS(Workflow Management System)can flexibly describe business rules among autonomous service tasks,and support scalability of large-scale business process.But current distributed WFMS still have difficulty to manage a large number of distributed tasks,the Multi-Task DOmain‘architecture of FlowAgent will try to solve this problem,and bring a dynamic and distributed environment for task-scheduling.     

A Conceptual Approach for Data Integration in Business Analytics

We present some basic concepts of a modelling environment for data integration in business analytics. Main emphasis is on defining a process model for the different activities occurring in connection with data integration, which allow later on assessment of the quality of the data. The model is based on combination of knowledge and techniques from statistical metadata management and from workflow processes. The modelling concepts are presented in a problem oriented formulation. The approach is embedded into an open model framework which aims for a modelling platform for all kinds of models useful in business applications.

This paper proposes a six-layers reference model for E-Commerce, including infrastructures, science tech-niques, elementary services ,business strategies ,business modes and society environment layer. Main classifications and some concrete entities in each layer are given. Because an explicit ,machine-readable specification for each layer would help E-Commerce participants to exchange their concepts easily and implement them effectively or even automatically,some issues on introducing ontology into the reference model are also discussed.

一个企业应用集成的设计模式：Hub

The Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) is a challenge of modern enterprise. How much effect of information system in enterprise business implement process that depends on the degree of inner function and information integration of formation system. The choice of EAI methods not only affects the investment of constructing information system and protecting /using old system, but also determines the efficiency of new system. This paper presents a design pattern, named Hub method, from the view of application integration, which adopts the idea in heterogeneous circumstance focusing on interface encapsulating about controlling information exchange and workflow handling. It also gives an implement method and a framework of the Hub in this paper, which is applied on business process management. And a good performance is achieved in controlling information exchange and workflow handling among enterprise applications. It not only improves system integration capability, stich as expansibility, flexibility, and opening through the method of the Hub, but also takes a great advance in soft reuse during software designing and implementing.     

An aggregation composition compensation method based on paired net

With regard to the failure and cancellation of business logic of web services composition(WSC),this paper propose a novel web services transaction compensation mechanism based on paired net which can dynamically establish agile compensation-triggered process(CSCP-Nets),and satisfy prospective compensation requirements.The related execution semantics of five usual composition compensation patterns based on paired net are analyzed in the situations of successful execution,failure compensation and failure recovery.Paired net based application of trip reservation process(TRP) shows that it is feasible.     

Development of Wafer Warehouse Management System for Semiconductor Manufacturing Foundry Supply Chain

Efficiency of supply chains management mostly depends on the process coordination and information integration between the supply chain companies.The well-known integrated circuit design houses,the wafer fabrication industries, and the integrated circuit packaging/testing business has together formed a contiguous supply chain from materials to system in Taiwan during the past decades.Logistic management of the wafer hence becomes the key linkage in the semiconductor foundry supply chain.The objective of this paper is to develop the wafer warehouse management system for global wafer logistics.Current operations for wafer logistics management are firstly reviewed. The system requirements are analyzed by the model-driven business transformation approach.The business operation model and the platform-independent solution architecture for the wafer logistics management are constructed.A prototype information system is also developed for validation.Results of this research can improve the effectiveness and efficiency in wafer logistics management for the semiconductor foundry supply chain.
