In the growing list of 2D semiconductors as potential successors to silicon in future devices, metal‐halide perovskites have recently joined the family. Unlike other conversional 2D covalent semiconductors such as graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides, black phosphorus, etc., 2D perovskites are ionic materials, affording many distinct properties of their own, including high photoluminescence quantum efficiency, balanced large exciton binding energy and oscillator strength, and long carrier diffusion length. These unique properties make 2D perovskites potential candidates for optoelectronic and photonic devices such as solar cells, light‐emitting diodes, photodetectors, nanolasers, waveguides, modulators, and so on, which represent a relatively new but exciting and rapidly expanding area of research. In this Review, the recent advances in emerging 2D metal‐halide perovskites and their applications in the fields of optoelectronics and photonics are summarized and insights into the future direction of these fields are offered.  相似文献

Wurtzite materials exhibit both semiconductor and piezoelectric properties under strains due to the non‐central symmetric crystal structures. The three‐way coupling of semiconductor properties, piezoelectric polarization and optical excitation in ZnO, GaN, CdS and other piezoelectric semiconductors leads to the emerging field of piezo‐phototronics. This effect can efficiently manipulate the emission intensity of light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) by utilizing the piezo‐polarization charges created at the junction upon straining to modulate the energy band diagrams and the optoelectronic processes, such as generation, separation, recombination and/or transport of charge carriers. Starting from fundamental physics principles, recent progress in piezo‐phototronic‐effect‐enhanced LEDs is reviewed; following their development from single‐nanowire pressure‐sensitive devices to high‐resolution array matrices for pressure‐distribution mapping applications. The piezo‐phototronic effect provides a promising method to enhance the light emission of LEDs based on piezoelectric semiconductors through applying static strains, and may find perspective applications in various optoelectronic devices and integrated systems.  相似文献

2D materials have attracted considerable attention due to their exciting optical and electronic properties, and demonstrate immense potential for next‐generation solar cells and other optoelectronic devices. With the scaling trends in photovoltaics moving toward thinner active materials, the atomically thin bodies and high flexibility of 2D materials make them the obvious choice for integration with future‐generation photovoltaic technology. Not only can graphene, with its high transparency and conductivity, be used as the electrodes in solar cells, but also its ambipolar electrical transport enables it to serve as both the anode and the cathode. 2D materials beyond graphene, such as transition‐metal dichalcogenides, are direct‐bandgap semiconductors at the monolayer level, and they can be used as the active layer in ultrathin flexible solar cells. However, since no 2D material has been featured in the roadmap of standard photovoltaic technologies, a proper synergy is still lacking between the recently growing 2D community and the conventional solar community. A comprehensive review on the current state‐of‐the‐art of 2D‐materials‐based solar photovoltaics is presented here so that the recent advances of 2D materials for solar cells can be employed for formulating the future roadmap of various photovoltaic technologies.  相似文献

The unique properties of hybrid heterostructures have motivated the integration of two or more different types of nanomaterials into a single optoelectronic device structure. Despite the promising features of organic semiconductors, such as their acceptable optoelectronic properties, availability of low‐cost processes for their fabrication, and flexibility, further optimization of both material properties and device performances remains to be achieved. With the emergence of atomically thin 2D materials, they have been integrated with conventional organic semiconductors to form multidimensional heterostructures that overcome the present limitations and provide further opportunities in the field of optoelectronics. Herein, a comprehensive review of emerging 2D–organic heterostructures—from their synthesis and fabrication to their state‐of‐the‐art optoelectronic applications—is presented. Future challenges and opportunities associated with these heterostructures are highlighted.  相似文献

Mono‐ to few‐layers of 2D semiconducting materials have uniquely inherent optical, electronic, and magnetic properties that make them ideal for probing fundamental scientific phenomena up to the 2D quantum limit and exploring their emerging technological applications. This Review focuses on the fundamental optoelectronic studies and potential applications of in‐plane isotropic/anisotropic 2D semiconducting heterostructures. Strong light–matter interaction, reduced dimensionality, and dielectric screening in mono‐ to few‐layers of 2D semiconducting materials result in strong many‐body interactions, leading to the formation of robust quasiparticles such as excitons, trions, and biexcitons. An in‐plane isotropic nature leads to the quasi‐2D particles, whereas, an anisotropic nature leads to quasi‐1D particles. Hence, in‐plane isotropic/anisotropic 2D heterostructures lead to the formation of quasi‐1D/2D particle systems allowing for the manipulation of high binding energy quasi‐1D particle populations for use in a wide variety of applications. This Review emphasizes an exciting 1D–2D particles dynamic in such heterostructures and their potential for high‐performance photoemitters and exciton–polariton lasers. Moreover, their scopes are also broadened in thermoelectricity, piezoelectricity, photostriction, energy storage, hydrogen evolution reactions, and chemical sensor fields. The unique in‐plane isotropic/anisotropic 2D heterostructures may open the possibility of engineering smart devices in the nanodomain with complex opto‐electromechanical functions.  相似文献

Recently, 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have become intriguing materials in the versatile field of photonics and optoelectronics because of their strong light–matter interaction that stems from the atomic layer thickness, broadband optical response, controllable optoelectronic properties, and high nonlinearity, as well as compatibility. Nevertheless, the low optical cross‐section of 2D‐TMDs inhibits the light–matter interaction, resulting in lower quantum yield. Therefore, hybridizing the 2D‐TMDs with plasmonic nanomaterials has become one of the promising strategies to boost the optical absorption of thin 2D‐TMDs. The appeal of plasmonics is based on their capability to localize and enhance the electromagnetic field and increase the optical path length of light by scattering and injecting hot electrons to TMDs. In this regard, recent achievements with respect to hybridization of the plasmonic effect in 2D‐TMDs systems and its augmented optical and optoelectronic properties are reviewed. The phenomenon of plasmon‐enhanced interaction in 2D‐TMDs is briefly described and state‐of‐the‐art hybrid device applications are comprehensively discussed. Finally, an outlook on future applications of these hybrid devices is provided.  相似文献

Two-dimensional (2D) materials, such as molybdenum disulfide (MoS(2)), have been shown to exhibit excellent electrical and optical properties. The semiconducting nature of MoS(2) allows it to overcome the shortcomings of zero-bandgap graphene, while still sharing many of graphene's advantages for electronic and optoelectronic applications. Discrete electronic and optoelectronic components, such as field-effect transistors, sensors, and photodetectors made from few-layer MoS(2) show promising performance as potential substitute of Si in conventional electronics and of organic and amorphous Si semiconductors in ubiquitous systems and display applications. An important next step is the fabrication of fully integrated multistage circuits and logic building blocks on MoS(2) to demonstrate its capability for complex digital logic and high-frequency ac applications. This paper demonstrates an inverter, a NAND gate, a static random access memory, and a five-stage ring oscillator based on a direct-coupled transistor logic technology. The circuits comprise between 2 to 12 transistors seamlessly integrated side-by-side on a single sheet of bilayer MoS(2). Both enhancement-mode and depletion-mode transistors were fabricated thanks to the use of gate metals with different work functions.  相似文献

Optical and electrical properties of 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) are strongly determined by their microstructure. Consequently, the visualization of spatial structural variations is of paramount importance for future applications. This study demonstrates how grain boundaries, crystal orientation, and strain fields can unambiguously be identified with combined lateral force microscopy and transverse shear microscopy (TSM) for CVD‐grown tungsten disulfide (WS2) monolayers, on length scales that are relevant for optoelectronic applications. Further, angle‐dependent TSM measurements enable the fourth‐order elastic constants of monolayer WS2 to be acquired experimentally. The results facilitate high‐throughput and nondestructive microstructure visualization of monolayer TMDCs and insights into their elastic properties, thus providing an accessible tool to support the development of advanced optoelectronic devices based on such 2D semiconductors.  相似文献

Due to their unique optical, electrical, and physicochemical properties, various 2D graphene nanosheets‐supported semiconductor composite photocatalysts have been widely constructed and applied in different photocatalytic fields. In this review, fundamental mechanisms of heterogeneous photocatalysis, including thermodynamic and kinetics requirements, are first systematically summarized. Then, the photocatalysis‐related properties of graphene and its derivatives, and design rules and synthesis methods of graphene‐based composites are highlighted. Importantly, different design strategies, including doping and sensitization of semiconductors by graphene, improving electrical conductivity of graphene, increasing eloectrocatalytic active sites on graphene, strengthening interface coupling between semiconductors and graphene, fabricating micro/nano architectures, constructing multi‐junction nanocomposites, enhancing photostability of semiconductors, and utilizing the synergistic effect of various modification strategies, are thoroughly summarized. The important applications including photocatalytic pollutant degradation, H2 production, and CO2 reduction are also addressed. Through reviewing the significant advances on this topic, it may provide new opportunities for designing highly efficient 2D graphene‐based photocatalysts for various applications in photocatalysis and other fields, such as solar cells, thermal catalysis, separation, and purification.  相似文献

The design and characterization of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials for optoelectronic applications represents an active area of recent research in organoelectronics. Noble metal‐free TADF molecules offer unique optical and electronic properties arising from the efficient transition and interconversion between the lowest singlet (S1) and triplet (T1) excited states. Their ability to harvest triplet excitons for fluorescence through facilitated reverse intersystem crossing (T1→S1) could directly impact their properties and performances, which is attractive for a wide variety of low‐cost optoelectronic devices. TADF‐based organic light‐emitting diodes, oxygen, and temperature sensors show significantly upgraded device performances that are comparable to the ones of traditional rare‐metal complexes. Here we present an overview of the quick development in TADF mechanisms, materials, and applications. Fundamental principles on design strategies of TADF materials and the common relationship between the molecular structures and optoelectronic properties for diverse research topics and a survey of recent progress in the development of TADF materials, with a particular emphasis on their different types of metal‐organic complexes, D‐A molecules, and fullerenes, are highlighted. The success in the breakthrough of the theoretical and technical challenges that arise in developing high‐performance TADF materials may pave the way to shape the future of organoelectronics.  相似文献

2D planar structures of nonlayered wide‐bandgap semiconductors enable distinguished electronic properties, desirable short wavelength emission, and facile construction of 2D heterojunction without lattice match. However, the growth of ultrathin 2D nonlayered materials is limited by their strong covalent bonded nature. Herein, the synthesis of ultrathin 2D nonlayered CuBr nanosheets with a thickness of about 0.91 nm and an edge size of 45 µm via a controllable self‐confined chemical vapor deposition method is described. The enhanced spin‐triplet exciton (Zf, 2.98 eV) luminescence and polarization‐enhanced second‐harmonic generation based on the 2D CuBr flakes demonstrate the potential of short‐wavelength luminescent applications. Solar‐blind and self‐driven ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors based on the as‐synthesized 2D CuBr flakes exhibit a high photoresponsivity of 3.17 A W?1, an external quantum efficiency of 1126%, and a detectivity (D*) of 1.4 × 1011 Jones, accompanied by a fast rise time of 32 ms and a decay time of 48 ms. The unique nonlayered structure and novel optical properties of the 2D CuBr flakes, together with their controllable growth, make them a highly promising candidate for future applications in short‐wavelength light‐emitting devices, nonlinear optical devices, and UV photodetectors.  相似文献

Monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides are 2D materials with many potential applications. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a promising method to synthesize these materials. However, CVD‐grown materials generally have poorer quality than mechanically exfoliated ones and contain more defects due to the difficulties in controlling precursors' distribution and concentration during growth where solid precursors are used. Here, thiol is proposed to be used as a liquid precursor for CVD growth of high quality and uniform 2D MoS2. Atomic‐resolved structure characterizations indicate that the concentration of sulfur vacancies in the MoS2 grown from thiol is the lowest among all reported CVD samples. Low temperature spectroscopic characterization further reveals the ultrahigh optical quality of the grown MoS2. Density functional theory simulations indicate that thiol molecules could interact with sulfur vacancies in MoS2 and repair these defects during the growth of MoS2, resulting in high‐quality MoS2. This work provides a facile and controllable method for the growth of high‐quality 2D materials with ultralow sulfur vacancies and high optical quality, which will benefit their optoelectronic applications.  相似文献

In the “post-Moore's Law” era, new materials are highly expected to bring next revolutionary technologies in electronics and optoelectronics, wherein 2D materials are considered as very promising candidates beyond bulk materials due to their superiorities of atomic thickness, excellent properties, full components, and the compatibility with the processing technologies of traditional complementary metal-oxide semiconductors, enabling great potential in fabrication of logic, storage, optoelectronic, and photonic 2D devices with better performances than state-of-the-art ones. Toward the massive applications of highly integrated 2D devices, large-size 2D single crystals are a prerequisite for the ultimate quality of materials and extreme uniformity of properties. However, at present, it is still very challenging to grow all 2D single crystals into the wafer scale. Therefore, a systematic understanding for controlled growth of various 2D single crystals needs to be further established. Here, four key aspects are reviewed, i.e., nucleation control, growth promotion, surface engineering, and phase control, which are expected to be controllable at different periods during the growth. In addition, the perspectives on designed growth and potential applications are discussed for showing the bright future of these advanced material systems of 2D single crystals.  相似文献

Piezoelectric and ferroelectric materials have shown great potential for control of the optical process in emerging materials. There are three ways for them to impact on the optical process in various materials. They can act as external perturbations, such as ferroelectric gating and piezoelectric strain, to tune the optical properties of the materials and devices. Second, ferroelectricity and piezoelectricity as innate attributes may exist in some optoelectronic materials, which can couple with other functional features (e.g., semiconductor transport, photoexcitation, and photovoltaics) in the materials giving rise to unprecedented device characteristics. The last way is artificially introducing optical functionalities into ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials and devices, which provides an opportunity for investigating the intriguing interplay between the parameters (e.g., electric field, temperature, and strain) and the introduced optical properties. Here, the tuning strategies, fundamental mechanisms, and recent progress in ferroelectric and piezoelectric effects modulating the optical properties of a wide spectrum of materials, including lanthanide‐doped phosphors, quantum dots, 2D materials, wurtzite‐type semiconductors, and hybrid perovskites, are presented. Finally, the future outlook and challenges of this exciting field are suggested.  相似文献

Chiral materials are widely applied in various fields such as enantiomeric separation, asymmetric catalysis, and chiroptical effects, providing stereospecific conditions and environments. Supramolecular concepts to create the chiral materials can provide an insight for emerging chiro-optical properties due to their well-defined scaffolds and the precise functionalization of the surfaces or skeletons. Among the various supramolecular chiral structures, 2D chiral sheet structures are particularly interesting materials because of their extremely high surface area coupled with many unique chemical and physical properties, thereby offering potential for the next generation of functional materials for optically active systems and optoelectronic devices. Nevertheless, relatively limited examples for 2D chiral materials exhibiting specific functionality have been reported because incorporation of molecular chirality into 2D architectures is difficult at the present stage. Here, a brief overview of the recent advances is provided on the construction of chiral supramolecular 2D materials and their functions. The design principles toward 2D chirality and their potential applications are also discussed.  相似文献

Tuning the optical properties of 2D direct bandgap semiconductors is crucial for applications in photonic light source, optical communication, and sensing. In this work, the excitonic properties of molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) are successfully tuned by directly depositing it onto silica microsphere resonators using chemical vapor deposition method. Multiple whispering gallery mode (WGM) peaks in the emission wavelength range of ≈650–750 nm are observed under continuous wave excitation at room temperature. Time‐resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) and femtosecond transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy are conducted to study light‐matter interaction dynamics of the MoS2 microcavities. TRPL study suggests radiative recombination rate of carrier‐phonon scattering and interband transition processes in MoS2 is enhanced by a factor of ≈1.65 due to Purcell effect in microcavities. TA spectroscopy study shows modulation of the interband transition process mainly occurs at PB‐A band with an estimated F ≈ 1.60. Furthermore, refractive index sensing utilizing WGM peaks of MoS2 is established with sensitivity up to ≈150 nm per refractive index unit. The present work provides a large‐scale and straightforward method for coupling atomically thin 2D gain media with cavities for high‐performance optoelectronic devices and sensors.  相似文献

Hybrid perovskite materials are famous for their great application potential in photovoltaics and optoelectronics. Among them, lead‐iodide‐based perovskites receive great attention because of their good optical absorption ability and excellent electrical transport properties. Although many believe the ferroelectric photovoltaic effect (FEPV) plays a crucial role for the high conversion efficiency, the ferroelectricity in CH3NH3PbI3 is still under debate, and obtaining ferroelectric lead iodide perovskites is still challenging. In order to avoid the randomness and blindness in the conventional method of searching for perovskite ferroelectrics, a design strategy of fluorine modification is developed. As a demonstration, a nonpolar lead iodide perovskite is modified and a new 2D fluorinated layered hybrid perovskite material of (4,4‐difluorocyclohexylammonium)2PbI4, 1 , is obtained, which possesses clear ferroelectricity with controllable spontaneous polarization. The direct bandgap of 2.38 eV with strong photoluminescence also guarantees the direct observation of polarization‐induced FEPV. More importantly, the 2D structure and fluorination are also expected to achieve both good stability and charge transport properties. 1 is not only a 2D fluorinated lead iodide perovskite with confirmed ferroelectricity, but also a great platform for studying the effect of ferroelectricity and FEPV in the context of lead halide perovskite solar cells and other optoelectronic applications.  相似文献
