This paper presents a novel efficient population-based heuristic approach for optimal location and capacity of distributed generations (DGs) in distribution networks, with the objectives of minimization of fuel cost, power loss reduction, and voltage profile improvement. The approach employs an improved group search optimizer (iGSO) proposed in this paper by incorporating particle swarm optimization (PSO) into group search optimizer (GSO) for optimal setting of DGs. The proposed approach is executed on a networked distribution system—the IEEE 14-bus test system for different objectives. The results are also compared to those that executed by basic GSO algorithm and PSO algorithm on the same test system. The results show the effectiveness and promising applications of the proposed approach in optimal location and capacity of DGs.  相似文献

Incorporation of distributed generation (DG) in distribution network may reduce the network loss if DG of appropriate size is placed at proper strategic location. The current article presents determination of optimal size and location of DG in radial distribution network (RDN) for the reduction of network loss considering deterministic load demand and DG generation using symbiotic organisms search (SOS) algorithm. SOS algorithm is a meta-heuristic technique, inspired by the symbiotic relationship between different biological species. In this paper, optimal size and location of DG are obtained for two different RDNs (such as, 33-bus and 69-bus distribution networks). The obtained results, using the proposed SOS, are compared to the results offered by some other optimization algorithms like particle swarm optimization, teaching-learning based optimization, cuckoo search, artificial bee colony, gravitational search algorithm and stochastic fractal search. The comparison is done based on minimum loss of the distribution network as well as based on the convergence mobility of the fitness function offered by each of the comparative algorithms for both the networks under consideration. It is established that the proposed SOS algorithm offers better result as compared to other optimization algorithms under consideration. The results are also compared to the existing solution available in the literature.  相似文献

This paper presents an optimization algorithm for simultaneous improvement of power quality (PQ), optimal placement and sizing of fixed capacitor banks in radial distribution networks in the presence of voltage and current harmonics. The algorithm is based on particle swarm optimization (PSO). The objective function includes the cost of power losses, energy losses and those of the capacitor banks. Constraints include voltage limits, number/size of installed capacitors at each bus, and PQ limits of standard IEEE-519. Using a newly proposed fitness function, a suitable combination of the objective function and relevant constraints is defined as a criterion to select a set of the most suitable buses for capacitor placement. This method is also capable of improving particles in several steps for both converging more readily to the near global solution as well as improving satisfaction of the power quality constraints. Simulation results for the 18-bus and 33-bus IEEE distorted networks using the proposed method are presented and compared with those of previous works. In the 18-bus IEEE distorted network, this indicated an improvement of 3.29% saving compared with other methods. Using the proposed optimization method and simulation performed on the 33-bus IEEE distorted network an annual cost reduction of 31.16% was obtained.  相似文献

Unified power flow controller (UPFC) is one of the most effective flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) devices for enhancing power system security. However, to what extent the performance of UPFC can be brought out, it highly depends upon the location and parameter setting of this device in the system. This paper presents a new approach based on computational intelligence (CI) techniques to find out the optimal placement and parameter setting of UPFC for enhancing power system security under single line contingencies (N?1 contingency). Firstly, a contingency analysis and ranking process to determine the most severe line outage contingencies, considering lines overload and bus voltage limit violations as a performance index, is performed. Secondly, a relatively new evolutionary optimization technique, namely: differential evolution (DE) technique is applied to find out the optimal location and parameter setting of UPFC under the determined contingency scenarios. To verify our proposed approach and for comparison purposes, simulations are performed on an IEEE 14-bus and an IEEE 30-bus power systems. The results, we have obtained, indicate that DE is an easy to use, fast, robust and powerful optimization technique compared with genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO). Installing UPFC in the optimal location determined by DE can significantly enhance the security of power system by eliminating or minimizing the number of overloaded lines and the bus voltage limit violations.  相似文献

This paper deals with the optimal placement of distributed generation (DG) units in distribution systems via an enhanced multi-objective particle swarm optimization (EMOPSO) algorithm. To pursue a better simulation of the reality and provide the designer with diverse alternative options, a multi-objective optimization model with technical and operational con- straints is constructed to minimize the total power loss and the voltage fluctuation of the power system simultaneously. To enhance the convergence of MOPSO, special techniques including a dynamic inertia weight and acceleration coefficients have been inte- grated as well as a mutation operator. Besides, to promote the diversity of Pareto-optimal solutions, an improved non-dominated crowding distance sorting technique has been introduced and applied to the selection of particles for the next iteration. After verifying its effectiveness and competitiveness with a set of well-known benchmark functions, the EMOPSO algorithm is em- ployed to achieve the optimal placement of DG units in the IEEE 33-bus system. Simulation results indicate that the EMOPSO algorithm enables the identification of a set of Pareto-optimal solutions with good tradeoff between power loss and voltage sta- bility. Compared with other representative methods, the present results reveal the advantages of optimizing capacities and loca- tions of DG units simultaneously, and exemplify the validity of the EMOPSO algorithm applied for optimally placing DG units.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new multi-objective optimization algorithm based on modified teaching–learning-based optimization (MTLBO) algorithm in order to solve the optimal location of automatic voltage regulators (AVRs) in distribution systems at presence of distributed generators (DGs). The objective functions including energy generation costs, electrical energy losses and the voltage deviation are considered in this paper. In the proposed MTLBO algorithm, teacher and learner phases are modified. The considered objective functions are energy generation costs, electrical energy losses and the voltage deviations. The proposed algorithm uses an external repository to save founded Pareto optimal solutions during the search process. Since the objective functions are not the same, a fuzzy clustering method is used to control the size of the repository. The proposed technique allows the decision maker to select one of the Pareto optimal solutions (by compromising) for different applications. The performance of the suggested algorithm on a 70-bus distribution network in comparison with other evolutionary methods such as genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO) and TLBO is extraordinary.  相似文献

This paper describes a software package whose purpose is to provide a tool to be used for identifying the closeness of the each bus and the critical bus which is the most sensitive to the voltage collapse in radial distribution networks. The package also facilitates two optimization algorithms to be used for the optimal placement of DG and shunt capacitors with their optimal size in distribution networks for power system studies. It uses the graphical user interface (GUI) capabilities of Matlab and is called voltage stability and optimization (VS&OP) Package. Power loss and voltage uncertainty are the major issues prevalently faced in the design of distribution systems. But such issues can be resolved through effective usage of networking reconfiguration that has a combination of Distributed Generation (DG) units from distribution networks. In this point of view, optimal placement and sizing of DGs are effective ways to boost the performance of power systems. The optimum allocation of DGs resolves various problems namely, power loss, voltage profile improvement, enhanced reliability, system stability, and performance. Several research works have been conducted to address the distribution system problems in terms of power loss, energy loss, voltage profile, and voltage stability depending upon optimal DG distribution. With this motivation, the current study designs a Chaotic Artificial Flora Optimization based on Optimal Placement and Sizing of DGs (CAFO-OPSDG) to enhance the voltage profiles and mitigate the power loss. Besides, the CAFO algorithm is derived from the incorporation of chaos theory concept into conventional artificial flora optimization AFO algorithm with an aim to enhance the global optimization abilities. The fitness function of CAFO-OPSDG algorithm involves voltage regulation, power loss minimization, and penalty cost. To consider the actual power system scenario, the penalty factor acts as an important element not only to minimize the total power loss but to increase the voltage profiles as well. The experimental validation of the CAFO-OPSDG algorithm was conducted against IEEE 33 Bus system and IEEE 69 Bus system. The outcomes were examined under various test scenarios. The results of the experiment established that the presented CAFO-OPSDG model is effective in terms of reducing the power loss and voltage deviation and boost-up the voltage profile for the specified system.  相似文献

This paper presents a particle swarm optimization with differentially perturbed velocity hybrid algorithm with adaptive acceleration coefficient (APSO-DV) for solving the optimal power flow problem with non-smooth and non-convex generator fuel cost characteristics. The APSO-DV employs differentially perturbed velocity with adaptive acceleration coefficient for updating the positions of particles for the particle swarm optimization. The feasibility of the proposed approach was tested on IEEE 30-bus and IEEE 118-bus systems with three different objective functions. Several cases were investigated to test and validate the robustness of the proposed method in finding the optimal solution. The effectiveness of the proposed approach was tested including contingency also. Simulation results demonstrate that the APSO-DV provides superior results compared to classical DE, PSO, PSO-DV and other methods recently reported in the literature. An innovative statistical analysis based on central tendency measures and dispersion measures was carried out on the bus voltage profiles and voltage stability indices.  相似文献

This paper presents bacterial foraging optimization (BFO) algorithm and its adaptive version to optimize the planning of passive harmonic filters (PHFs).The important problem of using PHFs is determining location, size and harmonic tuning orders of them, which is reach standard levels of harmonic distortion with applying minimum cost of passive filters. In this study to optimize the PHFs location, size and setting the harmonic tuning orders in the distribution system, considered objective function includes the reduction of power loss and investment cost of PHFs. At the same time, constraints include voltage limits, number/size of installed PHFs, limit candidate buses for PHFs installation and the voltage total harmonic distortion (THDv) in all buses. The harmonic levels of system are obtained by current injections method and the load flow is solved by the iterative method of power sum, which is suitable for the accuracy requirements of this type of study. It is shown that through an economical placement and sizing of PHFs the total voltage harmonic distortion and active power loss could be minimized simultaneously. The considered objective function is of highly non-convex manner, and also has several constraints. On the other hand due to significant computational time reduction and faster convergence of BFO in comparison with other intelligent optimization approach such as genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO) and artificial bee colony (ABC) the simple version of BFO has been implemented. Of course other versions of BFO such as Adaptive BFO and combination of BFO with other method due to complexity of harmonic optimization problem have not considered in this research. The simulation results for small scale test system with 10 buses, showed the significant computational time reduction and faster convergence of BFO in comparison with GA, PSO and ABC. Therefore in large scale radial system with 34 buses, the proposed method is solved using BFO.The simulation results for a 10-bus system as a small scale and 34-bus radial system as a large scale show that the proposed method is efficient for solving the presented problem.  相似文献

We propose novel techniques to find the optimal achieve the maximum loss reduction for distribution networks location, size, and power factor of distributed generation (DG) to Determining the optimal DG location and size is achieved simultaneously using the energy loss curves technique for a pre-selected power factor that gives the best DG operation. Based on the network's total load demand, four DG sizes are selected. They are used to form energy loss curves for each bus and then for determining the optimal DG options. The study shows that by defining the energy loss minimization as the objective function, the time-varying load demand significantly affects the sizing of DG resources in distribution networks, whereas consideration of power loss as the objective function leads to inconsistent interpretation of loss reduction and other calculations. The devised technique was tested on two test distribution systems of varying size and complexity and validated by comparison with the exhaustive iterative method (EIM) and recently published results. Results showed that the proposed technique can provide an optimal solution with less computation.  相似文献

In this article, a meta-heuristic technique based on a backtracking search algorithm (BSA) is employed to produce solutions to ascertain distributed generators (DGs). The objective is established to reduce power loss and improve network voltage profile in radial distribution networks by determining optimal locations and sizes of the DGs. Power loss indices and bus voltages are engaged to explore the initial placement of DG installations. The study cares with the DG type injects active and reactive power. The proposed methodology takes into consideration four load models, and their impacts are addressed. The proposed BSA-based methodology is verified on two different test networks with different load models and the simulation results are compared to those reported in the recent literature. The study finds that the constant power load model among various load models is sufficed and viable to allocate DGs for network loss and voltage studies. The simulation results reveal the efficacy and robustness of the BSA in finding the optimal solution of DGs allocation.  相似文献

Both active and reactive power play important roles in power system transmission and distribution networks. While active power does the useful work, reactive power supports the voltage that necessitates control from system reliability aspect as deviation of voltage from nominal range may lead to inadvertent operation and premature failure of system components. Reactive power flow must also be controlled in the system to maximize the amount of real power that can be transferred across the power transmitting media. This paper proposes an approach to simultaneously minimize the real power loss and the net reactive power flow in the system when reinforced with distributed generators (DGs) and shunt capacitors (SCs). With the suggested method, the system performance, reliability and loading capacity can be increased by reduction of losses. A multiobjective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition (MOEA/D) is adopted to select optimal sizes and locations of DGs and SCs in large scale distribution networks with objectives being minimizing system real and reactive power losses. MOEA/D is the process of decomposition of a multiobjective optimization problem into a number of scalar optimization subproblems and optimizing those concurrently. Case studies with standard IEEE 33-bus, 69-bus, 119-bus distribution networks and a practical 83-bus distribution network are performed. Output results of MOEA/D method are compared with similar past studies and notable improvement is observed.  相似文献

This study presents a particle swarm optimization (PSO) with an aging leader and challengers (ALC-PSO) for the solution of optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem. The ORPD problem is formulated as a nonlinear constrained single-objective optimization problem where the real power loss and the total voltage deviations are to be minimized separately. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, it has been implemented on IEEE 30-, 57- and 118-bus test power systems and the optimal results obtained are compared with those of the other evolutionary optimization techniques surfaced in the recent state-of-the-art literature. This paper addresses a method to optimize the unbalanced distribution networks (UDNs) for keeping up the voltage profile with respect to the consequence of solving the multi-objective reconfiguration using the Firefly algorithm in a fuzzy domain with a load flow method proposed in this paper. The objectives to be minimized are the total network power losses, the deviation of bus voltage and load equalizing in the feeders with network reconfiguration. Every goal is moved into the fuzzy domain utilizing its membership function and fuzzified independently. The proposed method for network reconfiguration has been implemented in 25-node and 19-node UDNs. The outcomes obtained by the suggested method of these two unbalanced networks have been compared with that of obtained by Genetic algorithm (GA), ABC algorithm, PSO algorithm and GA-PSO algorithm using the same objective function. The juxtaposition of the proposed method with the available methods is also presented.  相似文献
