Application of RFID tags had provided a great convenience in supply chain systems. In this paper, an improved version of Cai et al. protocol
which was specifically designed for supply chains application is proposed. The Cai et al. RFID system architecture is modified that includes a batch identifier and a path configuration features in order to accommodate
multi-batch operation requirements in supply chain systems. Other important requirements in supply chain systems which had
been found in relevant articles are also summarized. In addition, requirements of mutual authentication, missing tag identification,
and multi-batch operation ability are investigated. We summarize the vulnerabilities of former protocol and propose a new
protocol, which employs an RFID verification scheme, for supply chain systems. Two protocols are presented which included the tags reading protocol with
mutual authentication between tags and reader/partner, and the updating protocol (renewing the related secrets). We also modified
the handover process and made it more reasonable. The proposed protocol satisfies most of the requirements of supply chain
systems and allows multi-batch operation of products. Other merits of our solutions are: collision-free, missing tag identification,
and high efficiency. Hence, the overall performance and security of supply chain systems are improved. 相似文献

We focus on the data models for storing the data generated by radio frequency identification (RFID) transactions and architectures for processing such data. We consider the supply chain comprised of the manufacturer, distributor, retailer, and the consumer. We discuss details of the data generated by RFID transactions and data models to store such data. Different organizations in the supply chain may use this data for different applications such as automatic product ordering, shelf replenishment, and product recall. We present models to anticipate the data requirements generated by RFID transactions and indicate how existing enterprise applications can be adapted to handle RFID data. The results presented in this paper will help a practitioner to 1) design and develop databases and applications for handling RFID data and 2) significantly reduce the storage requirements of RFID data. Using the data architectures, we discuss two supply chain applications-product recall and shelf replenishment-in detail. We present analytical models for the cost and time required for shelf replenishment in a retail store. 相似文献

In the supply chain literature, little work has been done on modeling the propagation pattern of quality defects in supply chains. We quantitatively model a defect bullwhip effect in supply chains that can be addressed logistically by reducing time intervals between product deliveries. We explicitly consider the cause and effect of this defect bullwhip effect and demonstrate analytically that there is a strong incentive for practitioners to continuously reduce shipment size. We also consider production characteristics such as the frequency of supplier failure and stringency of the buyer's inspection process. Implications for managers are suggested. 相似文献

For complex multi-source, multi-product, multi-stage Supply chain network (SCN) design problem, we propose an optimization supply chain network model. We consider cash conversion cycle as an objective to this model and utilize a modified genetic algorithm to solve the problem. To describe the structure of supply chain network, we propose a new encoding method and a ge-netic algorithm with modified genetic operators. We use the Pareto approach to obtain the set of Pareto-optimal solutions. In order to evaluate the performance of the mod-ified genetic algorithm and validate the model, we conduct comparisons with standard genetic algorithm and the sim-ulated annealing genetic algorithm. Experimental results show that the modified genetic algorithm achieved better CPU time and the accuracy of the Pareto-optimal solu-tions than the alternative algorithms and the model was effective. 相似文献

Companies across industries have admired the success of Dell Computersin using modularity as part of a mass customization strategy to achieve build-to-order and a streamlined supply chain. Many companies are attempting to emulate this successful model, including the American automotive industry. This paper focuses on how the auto industry has been attempting to move to modularity, in part, motivated by a desire to build cars to order. This movement has led to major changes in supply chain practices based partly on imitation of successful keiretsu models in Japan and a move toward modules. This study finds significant impact of modularity on outsourcing, product development, and supply chain coordination based on interviews conducted with automakers and suppliers from 2000-2003. Based on our interviews, we observe that modularity has accompanied a major reorganization of the automotive supplier industry. We identify two major issues that appear to block U.S. automakers from gaining most of the advantages possible through modularity. First, most modularity activities appear to be primarily strategically cost reduction driven, leaving the potential of modularity for mass customization largely untapped. Second, the shift in industry reorganization has not been accompanied by changes in the supply chain infrastructure to encourage long-term partnerships. As just-in-time delivery has become increasingly commonplace and customer demands continue to tighten, the importance of fast, reliable delivery cannot be overstated. This is particularly true for firms competing internationally, where the complexity of the supply chain must be managed within a global network. To explore the linkage between supply chain complexity and delivery, a two-dimensional framework is proposed that conceptualizes the degree of complexity embedded in a supply chain along two major dimensions: (1) form of technology and (2) nature of information processing. Technology is characterized using a conventional operations strategy framework of structural and infrastructural elements. In contrast, information processing captures both the level of complicatedness and of uncertainty that exists in the supply chain. Collectively, these two dimensions create a two-by-two framework that defines supply chain complexity and provides a strong theoretical basis for linking different aspects of complexity to delivery performance. An exploratory empirical investigation using an international database focused on immediate upstream and downstream echelons of a supply chain at the firm level. Results show strong support for the linkages between delivery performance and both complicatedness of the product/process and uncertainty of the management systems. In contrast, little evidence was found that greater product variety and more complicated supply networks adversely affected performance. Thus, management initiatives to improve delivery performance are best focused on improving informational flows within the supply chain and leveraging new process technologies that offer flexibility to respond to uncertainty. 相似文献
