Collaboration with other members of the supply chain is one means by which small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) can compete
in today’s global business environment. Thus, early stages of the new product development process involve both technical activities,
e.g., product platform definition, and commercial activities, e.g., bidding for contracts. This paper introduces an integrated
collaborative bidding and design system (CBDS) to help SMEs coordinate the two aspects. General sorting was employed for initial
requirements acquisition and platform definition; while a self-organizing map (SOM) neural network was combined with a concurrent
cost-schedule estimation strategy for refinement of design options and bid evaluation/preparation. A case study on cellular

This paper proposes an integrating rapid customization design system which combines various technologies such as Web, knowledge
based engineering (KBE), engineering database and Computer Aided Design (CAD) and has been used in elevator design. The whole
system is set up on the base of engineering database technology, integrating Product Data Management (PDM), Enterprise Resource
Planning (ERP) etc. It adopts Web technology to enable customers to individually customize products remotely through the internet.
The system also adopts KBE to manage and reuse product design knowledge, while combining the technology of product family
modeling and technologies of feature modeling and parametric design, based on the assembly of the CAD system of Unigraphics
Solutions Inc., to create a product family case library that achieves intelligent, rapid design customization.

In order to use high-fidelity analysis and design tools at the design stage, designers need to communicate with domain experts
and their tools, which may be geographically dispersed over heterogeneous computing platforms. However, technical difficulties
and ontological issues such as distributed computing, application integration, and distributed product information sharing
impede the collaborative product development. This paper presents a distributed product development architecture for engineering
collaborations across ubiquitous virtual enterprises. It provides an integrated framework for product development services
to effectively communicate to realize true engineering application integration. The focus of this paper is to address three
key issues. One is concerned with product information sharing and synchronization across virtual enterprises. Another is concerned
with federations of product development services over the collaborative process. The third is related to the engineering context
management using semantic web for providing more human-oriented collaborations services. A case study for developing a mobile
phone is shown to validate the implementation of the proposed approach, which gives a great deal of possibilities for supporting

Owing to intricate interdependency and information feedback among tasks, the concurrent design process probably cannot converge
to the correct solution when there are wrong integration and improper interaction between activities. Therefore research on
concurrent design process optimization is necessary. In the paper, a novel methodology is proposed to analyze and optimize
the concurrent engineering process scientifically. Based on design structure matrix and graph theory, coupled task recognition
and design task level plotting are performed for the concurrent design process of aluminum profile extrusion product development.
Three factors are used to describe the coupling property of activity, namely sensitivity, complexity and affection factors,
which provide the basis to analyze development process quantitatively. And an optimism algorithm is presented to define the
initial iteration order of coupled task set. Finally a rational and efficient concurrent design process model is constructed,
which can make aluminum profile product development faster, with lower costs and higher quality. The methodology proposed

Design is an integral component of product development, which includes manufacturing. In order to avoid costly reworks and delays, and to reduce the lead-time in product development, effective communication of design concepts among the various stakeholders such as customers, designers and engineers is of utmost importance. In this respect, functional representations provide a methodology, which can be used to describe a design or product effectively. However, function is not the only type of information that needs to be communicated among the various stakeholders during a design process. Other types of information such as design specifications and constraints, which are non-functional, also need to be taken into account. This non-functional information cannot be adequately expressed using existing functional representations. Accordingly, in this work, a novel purpose-behaviour-structure (PBS) representation scheme to capture vital design knowledge for collaborative product development is proposed. The proposed PBS representation scheme can be used by designers working in a collaborative environment for product development. A case study on the design of a vacuum cleaner is used to illustrate the functionality of the PBS representation scheme. The details of the representation scheme are presented in this paper. 相似文献

This paper presents an approach to facilitate the generation of new product ideas. In this approach, a product is represented by a vector, which involves a number of product attributes. These attributes are defined based on the user-centered design (UCD) paradigm. That is, the context of use and interactions with users for the product is described by these attributes. By the product representation, a product database can be established. For a benchmarking product, we use the case-based reasoning (CBR) technique to retrieve those products, which are “sufficiently relevant” to the benchmarking one, from the database. The functions of the retrieved products are the candidate new ideas to be added on the benchmarking product. These retrieved products are screened manually to identify creative and valuable ideas. A prototype system of this approach has been implemented. Experiments show that the proposed approach outperforms the brainstorming technique, which has been widely used in industry. 相似文献

针对复杂产品内部结构耦合性强、配置设计求解效率和准确性低的问题,提出基于耦合强度设计结构矩阵的复杂产品配置模型优化技术。定义了产品配置结构体,基于结构体之间的父子逻辑关系和约束关系,对配置模型进行耦合分析,并对结构体间的耦合关系进行量化。通过映射得到配置模型耦合强度设计结构矩阵,对其进行分解变换并给出的聚合强度指数函数进行判定,得到结构体聚合集。采用基于净供给度解耦算法撕裂聚合集,重组配置结构体,优化配置模型。该技术在高档数控机床配置设计中得到了应用与验证,提高了数控机床的配置效率与准确性。 相似文献

为提高大型集装箱起重机产品设计的效率,提出面向快速设计的产品配置框架,构建了带约束的0-1规划基因进化模型,设计了一种基于改进蚁群的产品配置算法。模型中考虑了实例模板与客户需求的局部相似度、局部绿色特性满足度、配合亲和力等。结合大型集装箱起重机产品配置设计特点,重新设计了蚁群算法的伪随机比例规则;针对备选基因实例数量往往较多的问题,提出一种备选基因实例数量减少机制;设计了一种x_Sigmoid函数,并按此函数调整转移概率,加快算法搜索速度;实施捕食策略,加强较优区域的开发,增强搜索能力。通过集装箱起重机大车机构配置设计实例,比较了不同算法的优化结果,验证了所提模型和算法的有效性。 相似文献
