The letter presents an Nd-doped silica single-mode fibre laser with dielectric mirrors coated directly on to the fibre endfaces. The LD-pumped fibre laser had a CW output power of more than 4mW, a threshold power of 1.51 mW and a slope efficiency of 55%. The theoretically predicted values and experimental values of the laser characteristics are very similar owing to a negligibly small excess cavity loss.  相似文献

High power 1.02 mu m single spatial mode laser diodes with low-loss (3.3 cm/sup -1/) GaInP buried waveguides have been developed for pumping Pr/sup 3+/-doped optical fibre amplifiers. A maximum CW light output power of 415 mW and an optical fibre output of 71 mW at 200 mA have been achieved. A preliminary lifetest showed stable operation for over 2300 h under 100 mW CW conditions at 50 degrees C.<>  相似文献

360 mW fibre output power and excellent wavelength stability within 0.6 nm over a temperature range from 10 to 70/spl deg/C in a grating-stabilised AlGalaAs/InP 14xx-nm pump laser is reported. A fibre output power of 300 mW was maintained from 10 to 70/spl deg/C as the driving current was increased by 36% or 1.34 dB.  相似文献

210 mW of unsaturated continuous-wave output from a Ho/sup 3+/, Pr/sup 3+/-doped fluoride fibre laser is demonstrated using the /spl sim/1100 nm output from a free-running diode-cladding-pumped Yb/sup 3+/-doped silica fibre laser as the pump source. Efficient CW operation of a 2.71 μm Er,Pr:ZBLAN double-clad fibre laser pumped with a single diode laser operating at a wavelength of 975 nm is described. A maximum output power of 0.5 W and a slope efficiency of 25% (with respect to the launched pump power) were obtained. Threshold pump powers of <200 mW launched were measured and consistent relaxation oscillations in the output from the fibre laser indicate the presence of a saturable absorption mechanism  相似文献

The fabrication and operation of an Nd3+-doped silica single-mode fibre laser using a distributed fibre grating as the feedback element is reported. The laser had a threshold of less than 2mW, a slope efficiency of 19% and an output bandwidth at the lasing wavelength of 1.084?m of 16 GHz, significantly narrower than the conventional cavity design.  相似文献

Reports the observation of a strong dependence of the emission spectrum (centre wavelength and linewidth) of Nd:silica fibre lasers on pump wavelength. In a particular fibre, careful selection of the pump wavelength has led to the operation of a broadband fibre laser at 1060 nm with 19 nm FWHM bandwidth. When pumped with a 30 mW diode laser, it exhibits a 1 mW threshold, a 2.5 mW output, and an intrinsic average wavelength temperature stability of about 10 p.p.m./°C  相似文献

Blue semiconductor laser pumped continuous-wave laser oscillation of a Pr-doped ZrF/sub 4/-BaF/sub 2/-LaF/sub 3/-AlF/sub 3/-NaF fibre in the red spectral range is reported for the first time. The pump power is provided by a frequency-doubled optically pumped semiconductor laser system. When pumped with 300 mW at a wavelength of 479.7 nm, the Pr/sup 3+/-laser emitted 94 mW of output power at a wavelength of 635 nm. Threshold pump power and slope efficiency with respect to the incident pump power were determined to be 49.7 mW and 41.5%, respectively.  相似文献

A single-polarisation, single-frequency, ytterbium-doped silica fibre laser has been demonstrated in a 2 cm linear cavity. The output power reaches 35 mW with an optical signal-to-noise ratio greater than 65 dB. A polarisation-maintaining fibre Bragg grating is used as the polarisation-dependent reflector to generate the single-polarisation output with the polarisation extinction ratio greater than 20 dB. We report the efficient operation an Nd3+-doped silica single-mode fibre laser pumped by a GaAlAs laser diode. A CW output power in excess of 1 mW at 1.088 ?m has been obtained with a slope efficiency of 33%. Q-switched operation of this device is also reported.  相似文献

An unsaturated continuous-wave output power of 109 mW was produced from a diode-pumped Ho3+-doped double-clad silica fibre laser that did not require the use of a sensitiser. A thulium doped fluorozirconate fibre laser operating continuous-wave at wavelengths around 810 nm when pumped at 780 nm is reported. A slope efficiency of 15% with respect to incident pump power and a maximum output of 125 mW was achieved. This transition has the potential for laser diode pumping and with the output also being in the AlGaAs diode wavelength range there exist interesting possibilities for extending the versatility of such sources.<>  相似文献

A multi-wavelength Brillouin erbium fibre laser, which operates in short wavelength band (S-band), is proposed and demonstrated. The system employs both linear gain and nonlinear gain from a 20 m S-band erbium-doped fibre and a 500 m singlemode fibre, respectively, to generate an optical wavelength comb with spacing of approximately 0.084 nm. Two 80/20 couplers were used in the system as an internal feedback of generated Stokes signal to produce cascaded Brillouin Stokes for multiwavelength operation. A stable output laser comb of up to seven lines was obtained with a Brillouin pump of 3.5 mW and a 980 nm pump of 200 mW.  相似文献
