The deformation and fracture behavior of several dynamic vulcanizate blends of isotactic polypropylene with ethylene‐propylene‐diene rubber (EPDM) was examined and compared with those of uncrosslinked blends of PP/EPDM. These blends were prepared by melt mixing in an internal mixer at 190°C in a composition range of 10–40 wt % EPDM rubber. The variation in yield stress, the strength of fibrils of the craze, and the number density of the EPDM rubber domains (morphology fixation) that are dominant factors for enhancing interfacial adhesion and toughness in dynamic vulcanizate blends were evaluated. The ductility and toughness of these materials were explained in light of the composition between crack formation and the degree of plastic deformation through crazing and shear yielding. The physicomechanical properties including the hardness, yield stress, Young's modulus, percentage elongation, impact strength, flexural strength, and flexural modulus of dynamic vulcanized blends were found to be consistent and displayed higher values compared with uncrosslinked blends. The nucleation effect of the crosslinked particles and the decrease of crystallinity of the EPDM rubber were also considered to contribute to the improvement in the impact strength. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 研究了氯化聚乙烯对EPDM/NBR并用胶物理机械性能的影响。结果发现,加入氯化聚乙烯后,并用胶的混合平衡扭矩降低,达到平衡扭矩所需的时间缩短,且无论用硫黄硫化还是用过氧化物硫化,硫化胶的物理机械性能都提高,表明氯化聚乙烯对EPDM/NBR并用胶有一定的增容作用。同时也发现用过氧化物硫化的EPDM/NBR并用胶物理机械性能优于硫黄硫化的并用胶物理机械性能。  相似文献

以顺酐化三元乙丙橡胶(MEPDM)为增容剂,研究了EPDM对聚甲醛(POM)的共混增韧生。结果表明,MEPDM能明显改善POM与EPDM的相容性,使共混物分散相尺寸明显减少,分布更均匀,熔点和结晶度降低,缺口冲击强度提高。当POM/EPDM/MEPDM(质量比)为85/9/6时,共混物的缺口冲强度为10.2kJ/m^2。  相似文献

This article describes the impact and dynamic mechanical properties of rubber‐modified binary blends of polypropylene (PP). Two conventional elastomers [viz. ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) and ethylene propylene diene terpolymer (EPDM)] were used as an impact modifier for PP. It is clearly indicated by the results that EPDM is better than EVA as an impact modifier of PP. Analysis of data of dynamic mechanical properties and impact properties at various compositions of the blends revealed a direct correlation between impact properties and dynamic mechanical loss tangent. The energy dissipation due to viscoelastic relaxation is therefore suggested as a mechanism of impact toughening of PP, in addition to the other commonly known mechanisms of toughening (viz. shear yielding and crazing induced by deformation of rubber‐phase domains). © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 以甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯为接枝单体、过氧化二异丙苯为引发剂对三元乙丙橡胶(EPDM)进行熔融接枝。用傅里叶红外光谱(FTIR)对接枝产物进行了表征,分析测试了共混硫化胶的力学性能和微观结构。结果表明,随着共混体系中接枝EPDM用量的增加,EPDM与尼龙树脂的相容性不断改善,尼龙颗粒作为分散相在EPDM中分散得更加均匀和细致化,共混硫化胶的力学性能得到进一步提高,尼龙树脂原位生成的短纤维可明显提高共混硫化胶的撕裂强度,同时使其保持了弹性体高伸长率的特性。  相似文献

研究了IIR/EPDM并用体系中共混比、硫磺硫化体系以对共混性能的影响。结果表明,IIR与EPDM相容性较好,而且可以达到共硫化;IIR。EPDM质量比为75/25时,共混物的物理机械性能和老化性能较好;用硫黄、低硫高促进剂和无硫硫化体系都得到性能良好的共混物,其中以前者硫化的共混物性能最为突出。  相似文献

Polymer blend technology has been widely used for the past several years for the modification or enhancement of mechanical properties of polymers to obtain an overall balance of properties over those of the constituents. Despite its interesting mechanical and thermal properties, the impact strength of polypropylene leaves wide scope for improvement. A series of blends of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer with an impact grade of isotactic polypropylene (i‐PP) were prepared by single screw extrusion at 0–0.32 volume fraction of the dispersed phase. The mechanical properties such as tensile behavior, elongation‐at‐break, and impact strength of these blends systems as well as crystallinity were evaluated. Crystallinity data have been used in greater depth to support the mechanical properties. Differential scanning calorimetry studies conducted to study the modification in crystallinity of the crystalline component, i‐PP, of the blend revealed that the rubber component of the blend enhanced the crystallinity of i‐PP phase by providing sites for nucleation. Tensile modulus and strength decreased while the impact strength and breaking elongation enhanced with blending elastomer concentration. The improved properties of these PP/EVA blends are encouraging for carrying out further work on this system (composites) and suggest potential high impact strength applications for PP. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 研究了动态硫化和简单共混增韧聚丙烯(PP)/三元乙丙橡胶(EPDM)共混物的力学性能、形态结构、流动性能和脆韧转变。结果表明:动态硫化的增韧效率要比简单共混的增韧效率高;随着EPDM用量的增加,共混物的力学性能均随之发生变化,流动性明显降低;简单共混物的橡胶颗粒尺寸随EPDM含量的增加呈增大趋势,而动态硫化可以降低橡胶颗粒的尺寸;动态硫化物的临界基体层厚度大约为0.3μm,简单共混物的临界基体层厚度大约为0.2μm,并且动态硫化和简单共混物均在各自的临界基体层厚度处发生脆韧转变,验证了wu氏增韧理论。  相似文献

Polypropylene blends and composites with 5, 10, and 15 vol % of EPDM and 2, 4, and 6 vol % of untreated and treated wollastonite filler were examined by applying different techniques. Elastomeric ethylene/propylene/diene terpolymer (EPDM) component and wollastonite influenced the crystallization process of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) matrix in different ways. The nucleation of hexagonal β‐iPP, the increase of overall degree of crystallinity, and crystallite size of iPP were more strongly affected by wollastonite than the addition of EPDM was. Both ingredients also differently influenced the orientation of α‐form crystals in iPP matrix. Wollastonite increased the number of a*‐axis‐oriented α‐iPP lamellae plan parallel to the sample surface, whereas the addition of EPDM reoriented the lamellae. The orientation parameters of ternary composites exhibited intermediate values between those for binary systems because of the effects of both components. EPDM elastomer considerably affected well‐developed spherulitization of iPP, increasing the spherulite size. Contrary to EPDM, because of nucleating ability or crystal habit, wollastonite caused significantly smaller iPP spherulites. Small spherulites in ternary iPP/EPDM/wollastonite composites indicated that the wollastonite filler (even in smallest amounts) exclusively determined the morphology of ternary composites. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This study investigates the interaction of vinyl acetic (VA) content of ethylene‐vinyl acetate (EVA), pH level of Samarium borate (SmBO3), and Sb‐doped SnO2 (ATO) on reinforcement of peroxide‐cured ethylene‐propylene‐diene rubber (EPDM)/SmBO3 and EPDM/ATO composites. It was found that EVA could both reinforce mechanical properties of EPDM, and enhance fluidity of gum during processing. During vulcanization, the interaction of VA groups and pH value of filler particles can influence the crosslink density of EPDM composites. In alkaline EPDM/SmBO3/EVA, VA groups could hydrolyze to produce polyvinyl alcohol and reduce pH level of medium by consuming OH. When dispersed in acidic EPDM/ATO/EVA, VA groups could generate polyunsaturated bonds and acetic acid during vulcanization. The double bonds could react with dicumyl peroxide (DCP) and then boost crosslink efficiency of EPDM composites. Moreover, acetic acid and reduction of pH value could make DCP decompose into ions, and lower crosslink density of EPDM composites. In addition to the contribution of crosslink density, EVA could crystallize in EPDM composites to reinforce EPDM composites. Electric properties of EPDM were also affected. Surface and volume resistivity of EPDM composites decreased with the rise of VA content. As for EPDM/SmBO3/EVA composites, the growth of VA groups could boost dielectric constant and loss, decrease dielectric strength, due to the enhancement of polarity and reduction of crosslink density. In terms of EPDM/ATO/EVA composites, the EPDM/ATO/EVA14 possesses the highest dielectric constant and loss, and the lowest dielectric strength, because of the competing effect of VA content and crosslink density. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The morphology and dynamic viscoelastic properties of isotactic polypropylene (PP) blended with oil-free/oil-extended ethylene–propylene–diene (EPDM) rubbers were studied. Unvulcanized and dynamically vulcanized blends with the compositions PP/EPDM = 50/50 and = 30/70 were investigated. The morphology was observed by phase contrasted atomic force microscopy. The dynamic viscoelastic properties were determined with a rheometer of plate–plate configuration. It was shown that the rheological behavior was strongly affected by both the composition and the morphology of the blends. Significant improvement in the flowability of the dynamically vulcanized blends was observed when oil-extended EPDM was used instead of the oil-free version. It was demonstrated that the rheological properties are mostly controlled by the elastomer phase at low frequencies, while in the high-frequency range the influence of PP becomes dominant. The peculiarities in the rheological behavior of the thermoplastic elastomers (uncured blends, TPE) and thermoplastic dynamic vulcanizates (TPV, dynamically cured blends) containing oil-extended EPDMs were traced to a limited compatibility between the PP and EPDM components in the melt. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 用可控流变法降解共聚聚丙烯(PP)获得可控流变共聚PP。考察了基础树脂、过氧化物加入量、工艺参数对最终产品力学性能的影响。研究发现:在QP73N加入少量过氧化物便能显著改善流动性;根据基础树脂和最终产品的熔体流动指数可确定过氧化物的加入量;各种工艺参数对流变性能的影响由大到小依次为:温度、喂料转速、主机转速;喂料转速与主机转速之比越小,熔体流动指数越高;对降解产品力学性能的各项指标影响最大的因素都是挤出温度,其次是喂料转速和主机转速。  相似文献

采用熔融共混法制备聚丙烯(PP)/三元乙丙橡胶(EPDM)/滑石粉(Tacl)共混体系.研究了不同PP共聚物(M1600)和PP均聚物(V30G)配比的基体树脂对复合材料力学性能的影响及其原因,结果表明:随着M1600的加入,缺口冲击强度和熔体流动速率曲线在经过一段"平坦"区域,在30%左右添加量(相应于M1600/V30G配比为45/55)时存在一个最佳峰值;拉伸强度、弯曲强度、拉伸模量和断裂伸长率曲线总体趋势持续下降,但在30%左右添加量时存在一个"平台"或峰值,说明这种配比的PP最适用于PP/EPDM/Tacl体系.  相似文献

结合碱式硫酸镁晶须(MOS)的补强和阻燃功能,以微胶囊红磷(MRP)为协效剂,制备了无卤阻燃型PP(聚丙烯)/EPDM(三元乙丙橡胶)/MOS/MRP共混物,并与PP/EPDM/Mg(OH)2/MRP共混物进行比较。氧指数(LOI)及垂直燃烧(UL-94)测试表明MOS的阻燃效果优于Mg(OH)2。力学性能测试表明,MOS对PP/EPDM热塑性雌性体具有一定的增强作用,PP/EPDM/MOS/MRP阻燃体系的力学性能明显优于PP/EPDM//MRP阻燃体系。而PP/EPDM热塑性弹性体的动态硫化进一步提高了PP/EPDM/MOS/MRP阻燃体系的力学与阻燃性能。  相似文献
